Why would my height differ between a workplace check and GP measurement?

PerkyOchrePeer · 19/05/2026 00:11

Had body check up at work. They checked height with usual rod and said i was 5 foot 5 and a half. My Gp did it about a month ago and said I was 5 foot 4. I dod use to be 5 foot 6 I dont get why im taller from the work test than my GP A MONTH AGO

Human error? Typo? Who knows. Can you not just remeasure yourself

Do you mean with a tape measure. I dont think tape measures are very accurate

Does it matter that much? I think you're tallest in the morning so time of day could make somewhat of a difference combined with different tools and/or user difference/error.

Yes it does matter. I like being a bit taller than some of the females I interact with. Having said that I used to have a female boss at work who was 6 foot 1

Oh god it's you again. Is there ANYTHING that you don't complain about?

You do know that differing measurements don't actually change your height? Smile
If you are taller then you are taller whatever the ruler says.
(Are you a teacher?)

SoScarletItWas · 19/05/2026 07:59

You don’t need a tape measure to know whether you’re taller than someone you interact with in person!

Anyway, as per PP - time of day; human error; all can make a difference.

MiddleAgedDread · 19/05/2026 07:59

Tape measures not being calibrated properly, how straight you were standing, how the person read it.

Can't you see with your eyes if you are taller than others around you without needing it confirmed? Do you all go round asking each other's heights after the check?

ForgottenPasswordNewAccount · 19/05/2026 08:01

🤣🤣🤣

EarlofShrewsbury · 19/05/2026 08:01

Height can fluctuate up to 5cm throughout the day, it's quite a big amount if you think about it.

It's better be smart that half a centimeter taller OP.

freezingmytoesoff · 19/05/2026 08:09

This is the second post I’ve seen from you about your height and the apparent superiority you feel over women who are shorter than you. It’s absolutely bizarre.

OK, let's roll with your batshit thoughts on height. How does the number change this? It doesn't change your actual height and I presume you don't ask for employee heights before accepting employment.

Also, stop with 'females'. We're women.

WestwardHo1 · 19/05/2026 09:32

How odd.

ButterYellowFlowers · 19/05/2026 09:41

Time of day. I’m 5’4 in the morning and 5’3 at night.

This. The OP has form for batshittery attention seeking threads.

Shallotsaresmallonions · 19/05/2026 09:47

It's the hairdresser poster again.

How weird to enjoy feeling superior because you're taller than other women when you're still only 5'4!

DappledThings · 19/05/2026 09:48

Also get with the programme and use the metric system. It's 2026. I'm 46 and 165 cm. No idea what that means in imperial, never used it. My parents in their late 70s consider imperial embarrassingly old-fashioned.

Actually yes

Im old school. I deal with feet and inches. J day to the hairdresser cut an inch off. That way I know how much she's cutting. My mum made clothes and she used to buy material and elastic by the yard.. j cannot gauge howuch a metee is

How odd when most of those how tall are you/ how much do you weigh threads on here are mostly imperial measurements

Yeah, it's weird people cling on to it. It's so out of date. I have no concept of what stones and pounds mean.

Flintstonerubble · 19/05/2026 11:52

It’ll be that shrinkflation I keep hearing about.
