Why are some women so bitchy?

I can't reveal some comments I've heard regarding a much loved colleague.
But what makes someone comment on aging skin,hair, hair colors clothes.So long as the person is clean and smells fresh when they come to work.
Last time I checked I'm employed for my skills not appearance.I always wear clean clothes.
We are of an age that we have a lot of things to worry about.Why are some people obsessed with appearance wasting precious time commenting on others.(Unless it's to compliment them).

Agreed, some of the bitchiest people where I work are men.

god yes. I always thought they (men) didn’t bitch until I worked in a male dominated environment.

100%I worked male dominated industry and if someone was off sick,holiday etc lunchtime break their character would pulled apart.
I had lunch else where in the building because I couldn't listen to their pish and I also knew I wasn't that special that it didn't happen when I was off.
One of them was going on about a disabled colleague being off and what with.
I told him he should change his boiler suit for a white coat and stethoscope.
Silence.

It can definitely be women but it can also be men.

I've worked in an office with many, many people and believe me, some of the guys were just as bad.

We had some real snakes in that grass.

Women are expected to be nicer but men are a lot worse

I would say some people, not specifically women.
Men can be just as bad, but it's pathetic that anyone over 15 is judging someone for not obsessing about their looks, and being happy for their brain/character to be their focus.

I agree you can't fix stupid.So shallow and a total waste of life comparing women s appearance.
