Is there a thread about this already?

Just seen it on TV, E4 I think. Very frank and funny. Well done Andrex!

I thought it was bloody awful! I watched with my mouth wide open.

LittlePinkWeed · 13/05/2026 20:48

Oh, I've seen it was discussed on the MAFSAus tv thread. They didn't like it. ☹️

Dearg · 13/05/2026 20:51

I saw it today.
Not entirely sure I see the point of it.

Nor why Andrex are promoting it - it’s not as if the midwives or husbands had a roll handy.

Just let me see a black lab puppy, chewing the toilet roll. That’s my reality .

ArcticBells · 13/05/2026 20:52

Nearly as bad as the deodorant ad that has “Balls” in big writing on the screen

BurnTheWholeThingDown · 13/05/2026 20:54

Oh I really like it! I remember (years ago, we are ancient now) my sister having SUCH anxiety about this and I kept telling her she wouldn’t care and she didn’t believe me…and of course it did happen and she didn’t care. This advert would have helped her

neilyoungismyhero · 13/05/2026 21:03

I seem to be missing the point of it entirely- is it supposed to be some public service announcement..I didn't see a loo roll through any of my 3 births..

RodJaneandBungle · 13/05/2026 21:06

How to cash in in the name of empowering women. What a load of 💩 Literally.

fatphalange · 13/05/2026 21:07

What an utterly bizarre advert. It’s not the same as ‘doing a poo’ on the toilet anyway, which is what their loo roll is for. Obviously a small bit can come out because of all the pushing. I’m guessing the ad is meant to be hilarious.

Laiste · 13/05/2026 21:15

What?
What is this?

Dollymylove · 13/05/2026 21:16

I havent seen it but I assume its about curling one out whilst in labour. Is it really necessary to advertise it? If it happens the midwife will discreetly wipe it away and carry on. Is nothing sacred? Its a bit embarrassing but it happens. I had my first baby in the early 80s when they shaved you and gave an enema. I ended up sitting on the toilet for about 1.5 hours crying with labour pains coupled with cramps from the enema. It was a horrible experience. Fast forward to late 80s with my second, no shaving and no enema. Thank god!!

Made women sound like a complete morons.
Yes probably doing a poo is a worry but as a first timer I was more worried about ; looking after a completely dependent human, bringing a live human being into an imperfect world, stitches, the state of my vag afterwards.

Now Andrex has got women anxious about a shit. In the mist of blood fire and life and death. FFS. No one needs Andrex.

saveforthat · 13/05/2026 21:19

I thought this was going to be about politics!

Slightly missing the point I know, but there are very few phrases I hate more than “curling one out” 🤢

ChickenBananaBanana · 13/05/2026 21:20

It makes women look like vapid idiots.

Soz, couldn't resist that 😜

Would it though? After the event us when pooing is horrendous

What they should say is “ enjoy the poo whilst it’s easy
”. Once you’ve pushed out 8lbs and possibly ripped abit that’s last easy shit for a few weeks.

Now that would make me laugh.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 13/05/2026 21:27

I thought it was a stupid advert. I hate adverts that are only tangentially related to the product and are made solely to be all “aren’t we a good company, we’re so nice”.

But, I can easily believe their stat in the ad about 75% of women worrying about pooing in labour. So I don’t think it’s fair to say that andrex has made them worry about that.

OtterlyAstounding · 13/05/2026 21:28

This sort of thing makes me glad I tried to use castor oil to bring on labour when I was massively overdue, and so there was no way such an incident could happen by the time labour was finally induced! And I don't think it makes me a vapid idiot to hate the idea of soiling myself in front of my husband! Childbirth is dangerous and undignified enough already – I'd like to hang onto one bit of dignity if possible.

Anyway, what a weird way to try to sell toilet paper.

Mine is “having a dump” 🤮🤮🤮🤮

wanderlustdiaries · 13/05/2026 21:32

Just saw it. Very odd. Not sure what it’s got to do with toilet roll.

Same. I’m now traumatised by this thread.

rightoguvnor · 13/05/2026 21:40

Oh I hate most of this crop of adverts that supposedly talk about stuff that we don’t talk about but someone somewhere thinks we should.
i don’t wish to know there are people spending all day in their pee pants then wearing white jeans to a music festival - that’s silly for a start.
I look at my yoga classmates with suspicion now hoping they won’t let it all out.
Any man in high viz I steer well clear of in case of the diaaaaa-rehayer.
And the day DH comes downstairs singing and dancing about to a bit of Cockney Rebel cos he’s managed an erection is the day I leave.
Yes, yes, they’re all facts of life but it puts me off me custard creams.

WildGarden · 13/05/2026 21:46

Read the title and thought this was going to be another political thread.

IwanttoWFH · 13/05/2026 21:47

I couldn’t believe what I was watching and the fact it went on and on and on…

We know it can happen, but do we need to see a full length feature film on it?

Do the NHS use Andrex?! I think I can confidently say they don’t.

Bizarre .
