Just seen it on TV, E4 I think. Very frank and funny. Well done Andrex!

I raise you ‘taking a shit’. I remember asking me where my dh was taking a shit and he said ‘to the toilet’, which I suppose makes sense but still, yuck, why does it need to be so explicit?

I find this advertisement offensive, degrading and deeply disrespectful to women. It uses an intimate and potentially humiliating aspect of childbirth to sell toilet paper, which is wholly inappropriate.
Childbirth is a vulnerable and significant experience, and this advert exploits it for commercial gain rather than treating it with dignity. I am also concerned that it normalises making light of women’s bodies in a way many viewers will find distressing.
As television advertising is seen by audiences of all ages, I do not believe this subject matter is suitable for a mainstream campaign. I believe the advert may breach the UK Code of Broadcast Advertising by causing serious offence and failing to show proper social responsibility. Whoever came up with this concept is not right in their mind!

Saw it for the first time yesterday, and thought it was very sweet! From discussions about it, I'd expected something a lot more basic. I like the way they've done it, and it does feel friendly.

Obviously nobody's buying an extra pack of Andrex for giving birth. Presumably this is more to convey that they care about poo-related wellbeing. Works, imo.

Even worse than the dragged out Dove 'Real Women' campaign. Just fuck off with your appropriation of women's experience to sell stuff.

I'm going to say that's an odd perspective on marketing stuff to women. Of course the ads should reflect women's experiences.

If they're not speaking to real life experience (more or less) they're pushing idealised aspirations - it's easier to criticise that, unless you actually are the very rare woman of perfectly-groomed appearance, with an unfeasibly healthy-looking family who are always smiling, a smudge-free glossy kitchen and tastefully harmonised home. In which case, they'd be appropriating your experience!

I completely agree.
All this will do is embolden men to share their wife/partner most private often traumatic experience with all and sundry as entertainment. This does fuck all to help women in any way.

I think this is also the same as the always and bodyfoem advertisements where they started to humiliate women in the most pathetic ways possible. Showing bums, blood gushing out and blood running down a woman legs etc. Us women know what a tampon is for FGS! Who are these adverts designed to please anyway? So humiliating! Thanks for speaking up! Women need to stand together otherwise we’ll be back to defining the term woman again! 🤦‍♀️

I'd actually forgotten about the post-labour poo thing. I think I was more anxious about that than about pooing during labour. Maybe they'll do that advert as the follow up?
