This is absolutely heartbreaking.

Why didn't anyone report three women were missing?

If it's a Channel crossing, from what I understand, it's rare that women go on the boats from France, and when they do they are pushed to the back / bottom, where the risk of being crushed is high.

If it's not a crossing, what on earth has happened?

It’s beyond belief isn’t it! The utter pain for the family.

What a Tragedy , I just read their father's statement , I hope their family are receiving the support they need. May they rest in peace.

They were clearly close to go away all together in their 30s. So so utterly tragic.

I've just seen the update as well, that it was those three beautiful sisters. How absolutely devastating for their family.

They are just rope coiled into a red cylinder shaped bag - you keep hold of one end of the rope and throw the bag to the person in the water, and then reel them in with the rope. I’ve practiced both sides of the rescue and they are very effective (in rivers at least)

Sadly, I can see that the details of these three women have just been released.

It’s a terrible, terrible tragedy (and I don’t use that term lightly).

I was brought up in a seaside place and also brought up to be very conscious of water safety. You have to be so careful with any body of water that you don’t know.

Black people drown at hugely disproportionate rates. It's due to access to swimming facilities. There was a case a few years back where a whole family drowned in a pool on holiday trying to save each other. www.nbwn.org/post/drowning-in-disparity

Absolutely devastating. I hope it doesn’t sound shallow in the context but I also noticed how beautiful all 3 sisters are. I can’t imagine losing 3 children at once, it’s just beyond awful. RIP to them.

How that poor man was able to put together such a beautifully worded, eloquent and dignified tribute in the face of such an unthinkable loss is beyond me.

IMO Brighton Council has gone mad with the shingle dumping, causing 10-foot drop-offs that are underwater when the tide is high. It's too much. Never used to be that bad. I know we need sea defences, but this high? The defences are killing people. 😡 There are other methods as well as creating mountains on the beaches.

At Elmer in West Sussex they have offshore breakwaters. Maybe Brighton could have those plus shingle-dumping that's not in such huge quantity. I'm not a coastal engineering expert but it seems to me that Brighton really needs to have a rethink.

I hope the family sues Brighton Council, to send a strong message if nothing else.
