Sorta kinda. But when he's there she probably has to put up with him interrupting her peace so he can read his latests 'truths' to her, demand praise for something, or other, ahem, 'demands'. I'm sure that last is covered in the prenup. Not to mention others disturbing her, wailing "Isn't there anything you can do to stop him?".

A break from buttering his mushroom you mean ?

China changes Marco Rubio’s name to say ‘stupid’
The secretary of state had been banned from the country after criticising its treatment of Uighur Muslims. Its diplomatic fix, however, raised eyebrows.
https://apple.news/AvXCdKb69QIyhP47TEqZ1BA

...Chinese officials have decided to spell his name with the character “鲁”, which means “reckless”, “stupid” or “crass”.

...“As a senator, Rubio regularly criticised Beijing’s persecution of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang and the Chinese Communist Party’s crackdown on pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong. He was sanctioned in 2020.
However, after Rubio was named Trump’s secretary of state last year, the spelling of his name mysteriously changed, allowing Chinese authorities to maintain sanctions on the “Rubio” named in official documents while also enabling him to visit Beijing on official trips.
At the same time, the CCP appears to have sensed an opportunity to make a subtle dig. Rubio’s original Chinese name used the neutral character “卢”, which can be transliterated either “Ru” or “Lu”. That has been substituted for “鲁”, a character with less flattering connotations.
The spelling of Rubio’s name has generated plenty of debate among linguists, with some arguing that the apparent change was not intended as a diplomatic slight. Several versions of Rubio’s name have been used in the past by Beijing and the Chinese state news agency, Xinhua, recommends “鲁”.”

Marco Rubio has been called many things in his political career. His current boss used to call him “Little Marco”. In Beijing this week, the secretary of state suffered another indignity. Chinese officials have decided to spell his name with the charac...

Elon Musk is in China with Trump.
That surprised me!

Why ?

Did you not know that Musk is a near shill for the CCP ? If he puts one foot wrong he loses his Chinese factory, his supply chain, and access to the biggest EV market in the world. See what he said about Taiwan. Party line.

Elon Musk: Taiwan should be integrated

"The official policy of China is that Taiwan should be integrated. One does not need to read between the lines," said Elon Musk in an interview on Tuesday following Tesla's annual shareholder meeting, when the reporter asked Musk a question on Taiwan.

What is PRC state media saying about the Turd visit ?

Trump repeatedly calls President Xi a great leader: Xinhua - Global Times

Yup. Just like the old days really, when paying tribute to the Emperor was the done thing. And now under Uncle, it is POTUS paying tribute.

To save a click, here is the full text :

"Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with visiting US President Donald Trump at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday morning, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Trump, who is on a three-day state visit to China, repeatedly called Xi a great leader, Xinhua said.

He also highlighted the high-level American business delegation accompanying him, describing their presence as a gesture of respect toward China and its leader. "They look forward to trade and doing business," Trump said, according to Xinhua.

"There are those who say this is maybe the biggest summit ever," Trump said, per Xinhua.

"It's an honor to be your friend and the relationship between China and the USA is going to be better than ever before," Trump said, Xinhua reported.

Yup. But the business folk will want him there for his influence with the Party I think. Or at least his claimed influence. In reality they are the ones with power over him.

I thought the orange loon was overwhelmed in Chy-na, almost obsequious.

Now we've got that out of the way, does anyone think there's any chance attention will once again turn to the war in Iran and negotiations to open the SoH?

Spandauer · 15/05/2026 13:39

The Donald is on his way back to MAGAland so I guess we can expect plenty of TS posts to big up his playdate/sleepover with Xi, after being relatively quiet on SM for the last 48 hours.

Reports on what has been discussed are unsurprising and vague. Seems unlikely that anything of any real use will come out of this visit.
But Trump et al will spin it as a bigly success that only they could have achieved. And will justify anything they now go on to do with regards to Iran as OK with BFF Xi.

Suspect China has smiled, nodded along and have kept the receipts.

...But many in Beijing feel that the crisis in Iran is not China’s responsibility.
Zhou Bo, a retired senior army colonel and a senior fellow in the Center for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University, said: “On Iran, China definitely wants to help but I read what Rubio said: he actually seems to shift the burden to the Chinese side. In China, we have a saying: it is like, ‘Why should I clean your shit?’”
^^
... Asked for their views on Trump, the word that came up again and again from Beijingers was “unpredictable”.
“What he says isn’t necessarily what it means,” said one Trump-watcher, who declined to give his name.

Was Trump's visit to China a nothing burger?
My thoughts are, we can only measure the success of Trump's visit if we know the US aims and what was achieved but there's been strangely subdued reportage. No Trump crowing of winning bigly with promised investment from his pal Xi, no offer to help with Iran/agreement to not supply Iran with weapons/join the Bored of Peace gang.

These points were all mentioned by CNN but no headline deals.
-Tesla sales falling in China and being overtaken by BYD worldwide
-Apple challenged by Chinese smartphone makers like Huawei and Xiaomi
-No discussion on tariffs
-Talk of a Board of Investment for Chinese investment
-Considering lifting sanctions on Chinese companies that buy Iranian oil
-Weapon sales to Taiwan

Analysts said that the two countries may also finalize more deals in the coming days, including for US agricultural and energy exports.
“For the meeting to be deemed a success by Trump’s rural constituents, the hope remains that China this week will announce further multi-year mega US U.S. agriculture purchases, including corn and meat, while confirming soybean purchasing commitments made last October,” wrote Wendy Cutler, senior vice president at Asia Society Policy Institute.
But even signed statements could take months to materialize, if at all.
According to Leah Fahy, senior China economist at Capital Economics, several projects announced in 2017 never materialized, including an $84 billion investment in shale gas development and chemical manufacturing in West Virginia, and a $43 billion investment in facilities in Alaska to liquefy and export natural gas.
“A look back to Trump’s last visit to China highlights why any headline deals should be looked at with a healthy degree of scepticism,” Fahy wrote.

Ultimately, China’s economy needs the US less than before– and that seems to include its biggest businesses as well.

I can't wait for Trump's version of events when he resumes his 3am Truth posts.

So the ballroom’s supposed to complete Sept ‘28, just before he leaves office. Even without the legal challenges it’s unlikely to complete on time. Cue lots of panicked TS posts/ threats and some hastily constructed events in a half finished building.

Re soybeans.

You would think the US had people following PRC state media. This from last October.

Soybean imports set record in September, demonstrating potential of trade diversification - Global Times

Canada done an agriculture deal too. And EVs. Recently I think. Carney said they would allow a certain number of EVs, China said they would buy farm product. I remember the Canada visit because the deals were instantly announced, and Trump rubbished it. Said China would eat Carney and spit him out.

Trump knows best. According to the turd fella anyway.

We need a dinner party to discuss all these world events. And sign the bigly deals.

Let's see if there was some truth telling behind closed doors and they will really push for an end to the war, but it gives me a bad vibe. It feels, indeed, like nothing really happened here......

logicisall · 15/05/2026 15:30

@RedTagAlan We know that China isn't stupid. I was following the soybean story because of Brasil and the only way China will resume buying US soyabeans will be if there's a incentive for them, be it quality, supply, price or tariff related.

I suspect it will be the other way around. That the US Government will have to pay the Trumps to use it. Well, future Repugs anyway. Dem presidents will be banned.
