Morning All! What are you all up to today?

lucysmam · 10/05/2026 09:50

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day after a lie in with boy cat laid on top of me! He's quite heavy! The washer's on for towels and a few pots are soaking to be washed in a bit.

I have a very slight hangover/tiredness going on but hopefully that'll shift after my brew ☕️. If not, I might nip for a nap later on.

Dd2's just left for another revision session at school, she's meeting a friend to walk with but coming home on her own as friend is staying for a second session in a subject dd doesn't do. I haven't heard from dd1 yet...she'll still be sleeping I imagine.

I really need to shift & prep some veg for the stew I said I'd make for tea but cba right now. I'll sort tablets for the week first. The rest of the day will be pottering, crafting...something but undecided what...and maybe reading. I also really really need to order a sofa!!

We'll have the stew for tea, then early showers and an early night (for dd2 as well - first exam tomorrow morning!), ready for school tomorrow 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam I hope you had fun with your friends. Good luck for Dd2 for her exams tomorrow, sounds like she has been working very hard.

I need to clean the house…. DH will help but he’s hurt his leg so will be a bit limited. Hoping to go out for a walk but nowhere near as nice as yesterday, glad I got out in the garden then.

Dinner is pulled pork in the slow cooker and I am attempting to make arepas - never made or eaten them before so wish me luck! Need to bake a cake for a colleague at work too. Then collapse on the sofa with an episode of something.

hope everyone has a good day

thebeautifulsky · 10/05/2026 10:06

Good morning @lucysmam and all. A slow start here too. On my second coffee of the day. Not much done yet apart from emptying the dishwasher.

We've had a busy week. It was DGC's birthday party yesterday - just family but took up most of the day. All very enjoyable though. DD is heavily pregnant atm and baby due in next couple of weeks. We're all looking forward to meeting the baby. May/June is a busy time here - lots of family birthdays.

I'll be going for my usual walk up and down the hills soon and will finish the vegetable planting. We'll have simple food today as we ate far too much yesterday. Beans on toast for dinner.

Hope everyone has a good day.

DilemmaDelilah · 10/05/2026 10:10

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. Did you have a nice evening yesterday with your friends?

I was up early getting Houdini his breakfast, then laying the table and prepping for family lunch today. We're eating at 12.00 so it needs to be done early. We put the HUGE gammon joint into the slow cooker last thing yesterday, and Mr Dilemma peeled all the potatoes yesterday, and I started the onion sauce and made the crumble topping for pudding, so the only things left to do are to chop up the cabbage (done), lay the table (done), make the onion sauce, cook and mash the potatoes, put the crumble on top of the apple (cooked months ago and frozen, already defrosted) and cook it, heat the custard (ready made), and slice the meat.

Houdini and his mummy are just about to go out to the playpark and while they are out I will give the bathrooms a quick swish round. Mr Dilemma has just gone out to pick up a toy workbench from my lovely massage lady, for them to take home tomorrow. I'm hoping he will have time to give the sitting room a quick whizz over with the hoover, before he has to go out again to pick up local daughter and her family for lunch.

I'm hoping Houdini and his mummy will go out somewhere this afternoon so that I can have a nap once lunch is cleared up! Mr Dilemma will do most of it - he is wonderful that way - but I don't want to leave anything undone and then have to come down to a mess that needs clearing up before I start preparing tea, or Mr Dilemma does. We're having burgers in buns this evening, not really necessary after a big lunch, but it's easy and we all like it.

sugarandcyanide · 10/05/2026 10:12

I've already washed the towels and dog bedding and it's drying on the line but it's cold and grey here.

Husband is hungover after a catch up with his friends yesterday and hasn't risen yet so I'm sitting with the two dogs waiting for him to surface so I can hoover up the never ending dog hair! One dog is getting very needy and has to be next to me all the time so whatever I do he follows.

It's supposed to brighten up later so the afternoon will be spent in the garden weeding and tidying up my pots. Spring is my favourite season, my garden is gorgeous at this time of year.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 10/05/2026 10:19

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Delilah that exhausted me just reading 😂
I having a series of very disturbed nights which is annoying. 1 or 2 times getting up is fine. 5 or 6 not so fine.
I've had two coffees and a cuppa with 2 small slices of toast. Then a trip to Aldi. I've just put everything away and im having another cup of tea. I have a small ironing to do and a quick hoover. Dinner will be pork chops done in the oven. Then jelly and fruit. Enjoy your day all.

WorthySloth · 10/05/2026 10:22

I’m working today until 9pm then off for 3 days 😊 watching Sunday morning tv with a client. Could be worse!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 10/05/2026 10:25

Good morning @lucysmam & The Sunday Crew. So nice to be in bed with nowhere to be except taking DD17 & her GF to visit DM at the care home this afternoon. DD’s GF hasn’t met my folks yet & asked to meet them. We’ll go at 2ish after the lunchtime rush. DH & I were awake very early as per & I was downstairs making a cuppa before 7am. Did a few bits including adding more dirty clothes to the washing machine. Still needs a little more before it goes on. Had a few lemon toffee bonbons ( I did a “ Quarter Of” order & also have plain bonbons, milk chews, pear drops, apple & custard - phew!) Been going down a few rabbit holes online plus checking out Vinted. Another £10 in my account from selling a bra. Bumped a ring which is receiving lots of favouriting as a result so hopeful to sell that too. Fancy cold pizza for brunch. Had a nice ham/mushroom/ mozzarella one on Friday. Tea will be Pieminister steak & ale pies, readymade buttery mash, peas & gravy (only for me as DH not keen. The girls will sort themselves out & DD has already been given food money. Really must clean the kitchen surfaces! They should be done daily but often get neglected, as does the floor. The bathroom is overdue for a clean too. DH & I need a new series to watch - we have Netflix, Disney+ etc. Any recommendations welcome. We both particularly enjoy medical dramas. Have a lovely day all.

Topsy44 · 10/05/2026 10:30

Good morning Lucysmam and All,

I am ensconced on the sofa with Dcat and DD, had 2 cups of tea, toast and happily double screening.

We’ve had a busy week so today will be an easy day as we were out for the whole day yesterday seeing my Mum and I caught up with a school friend in the evening. As a lone widowed parent I don’t get to go out very much but I feel so much better for it!

I might mow the lawn this afternoon if weather allows it and find DD’s sleeping bag for her DOE trip next weekend and check she has everything she needs for it so not running around in a panic the night before (well, that’s the plan anyway!).

Will put a wash on shortly for work/school stuff and might read some of my book with another cuppa.

Hope you all have lovely Sundays.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 10/05/2026 10:31

Really struggling with what I think is a trapped nerve - keep getting horrid spasms down my arm & it’s so painful. If it doesn’t ease in a few days, I’ll apply for free physio. You can have I believe 3 free sessions through the surgery & the lady I’ve had in the past is brilliant.

frozendaisy · 10/05/2026 10:45

Tiddlywinks63 · 10/05/2026 11:18

Good morning, it’s blooming chilly here after yesterday’s sunshine. DH is walking bigger dog, Tiddler’s snoring at my feet, I’m in my big rocking chair by the patio door doing some embroidery while drinking coffee and eating peanut butter on krisproll 😋
The pork joint is in the oven, veggies all prepped as well as having prepared cooking apples for baking , custard to go with them.
Nothing much else planned for the rest of today, suits me fine!

Morning All! What are you all up to today?
Rainbow1235 · 10/05/2026 11:27

Good morning lucysmam and to u all . I had a fall whilst in cemetery yest so got 2 grazed knees and a very bruised foot that will teach me to look where I’m goin . There 9 of us for dinner today we are having beef it’s all prepped and we will eat bout 1ish . We having a new grandson in July and my son sent a picture of a blanket they have had made and on it is his name which will be Dougie in honour of my lovely dad who passed 10 months ago . I was so touched and dad would’ve been thrilled . I did say they did not need to do that as they can chose whatever they want but he said no they both love it anyway. Have a great and safe day all 🫶

Thislittlekitten · 10/05/2026 12:03

Afternoon All

Good luck for DD2 @lucysmam and @DilemmaDelilah your day sounds lovely.

I’ve been lazy. Got DS up and ready for his club then back to bed. Just had a bacon roll and enjoying another cup of tea. I have done the dishes and sorted some washing.

I need to pop to the shops at some point and sort uniforms. I really can’t be bothered but I must. DH has had the dog out for a big walk so he’s just settling for nap, DDog not DH. DH is about to do busy things around the house. DD is still in bed. She’s been here exhausted and emotional the last few days so letting her sleep. Hopefully she’s seeing friends later.

Tea is steak pie! For once something everyone will eat.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 10/05/2026 12:03

Out last night so taking it easy. Maybe going for a pub Sunday lunch.

Chelsea26 · 10/05/2026 12:15

Morning all! Had a nice chilled morning here, coffee in bed and then put a colour on my hair and went down and made chorizo Shakshuka for brunch - so good.

DP is just off to take his kids to their mums and I’m getting in the shower.

I will make up mason jar salads for the week for our lunches when I get out and then we’re off for a date!

Going to the British Museum for a couple of hours and then Babylon Park which is an indoor fairground in Camden. Will find somewhere nice to eat around Camden Market before heading home.

gingercat02 · 10/05/2026 12:33

Afternoon all,
We woke up to a broken fridge. So the food has been frozen or decanted into the drinks fridge in the garage.
DH has put the fridge outside, booked a slot at the tip and mopped the kitchen floor while I was at PiYo.
He gone for a run, I'm making sauage sandwiches (using up the food so it's a good thing)
The afternoon will be football on TV, picking a new fridge and a tip run.
Happy days!
This evening will mostly consist of keeping DS calm before A levels start this week.

lucysmam · 10/05/2026 12:35

@DilemmaDelilah yes, thank you! One brought celebratory "moved out of the shithole" fizz 😊. Late night though...I'm off for that nap I thought about in a mo!

@Chelsea26 what goes in your salads? Do they last all week?

@Tiddlywinks63 Tiddler looks comfy. Boy cat's currently snuggled up on a very well loved handbag of mine that was destined for the bin - it's his bag now (for today at least 🙈).

@Rainbow1235 hopefully your knees and foot heal quickly!

Change of plan here for tea - pie, mash and veg - I'll pre-chop stew veg while tea cooks & slow cook it tomorrow. Should have done that yesterday maybe.

When I get up, a browse of beds and sofas online, then order at least a sofa!

No longer morning but I’ve been on a bit of a housework mission while dh and ds are at cricket, got windows open and fresh air blowing in, have lit some candles and everything is looking lovely. Will shut the windows in a bit though cos it’s actually freezing but I do like giving the house a blast every day.
Also listed a load of stuff on vinted so hopefully can shift some bits today, the shop is so nearby so I’m a speedy poster 😂
Now lying on my bed under my electric blanket, period pains are being brutal today.
Not sure what the rest of the day has in store, might go for a wander with dh, dc1 is out getting her nails done. Suspect her boyfriend will be coming for Sunday dinner and dh was saying this morning that he’d like to cook outside tonight.

Peridot1 · 10/05/2026 12:53

Good afternoon @lucysmam and everyone.

Missed last week’s threads as was away and yesterday’s as was busy.

Slow morning here. Up late as was awake a bit in the night. Had a lovely chat with my friend in Sydney. Few cups of tea and some toast. Unloaded dishwasher and reloaded. Made a cake which I promised for a fund raiser open garden today. Don’t really want to go now as it’s so bloody cold! Will see if I can drop the cake over to one of the organisers. Second load of laundry is on. Have quite a bit of mine to fold from yesterday too.

Really want to do some stuff in the garden but it’s too cold. Feel like just hibernating with a book and a blanket.

Dinner is steak, new potatoes, onions, mushrooms and pepper sauce. Some tv and an early night.

OchreSwan · 10/05/2026 12:53

Afternoon all! Later post from me today as I’ve been on the go all morning, first cleaning bathrooms, then taking car for a battery change (was terrified I’d stall it on the way over and not be able to re-start it as the battery was well and truly dead by that point!), then onto Waitrose for weekly shop.

DP’s out today doing his hobby, so I’ve had lunch by myself and now contemplating a 20 minute nap as we had a late one last night with friends. Will go for a run later and do a bit more tidying before hopefully having time to read my book or work on some knitting.

Curry of some description for dinner as I bought a very nice looking cardamom naan bread in the Lebanese supermarket yesterday. Might start re-watching Rivals season 1 tonight, in anticipation of season 2 starting next week. Have a lovely day everyone.

bippyboppy · 10/05/2026 13:20

Im painting a wall.

Chelsea26 · 10/05/2026 13:39

@lucysmam I’ve done Tuna Mayo this week, last week was a sort of coronation chicken, sometimes do a tex mex chicken one too.

There SO good! Honestly stay perfectly fresh all week. DP had the last one from last Sunday yesterday and it was still great!

Order is important so in these beauties we have

tuna mayo
red onion
celery
grated carrots
cucumber (wet middle bit removed)
red pepper
radish
cherry tomatoes
Spring onion
iceberg lettuce
spinach

Wet on the bottom, hard stuff first moving up to your leaves and it helps to really pack it in so there’s no air in there.

Definitely recommend - took me about 35 mins to do these and tidy up after…

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you’re having a nice sunday. My husband has caught our daughters tonsillitis, so sick back is now full in our house. While they lay on the sofa and sweat I’ve been at a skatepark with the oldest as he was stuck at home most of yesterday.

Apart from that not much has gone on here, I think our daughter is starting to feel a bit better, her temperature has gone down so thats good, so she might be well enough for pre-school by the end of the week.

CarrotParsnipOnion · 10/05/2026 14:41

I love a quiet peaceful Sunday! I went out to a concert last so had a lie in this morning and then dh brought me coffee in bed so I stayed there reading. It was bliss!

I did the food shop and a little tidying up. The teenagers are doing their own thing so dh and I are about to watch a film. We are shocking ourselves at how lazy we are being! We will take the dog for a long walk afterwards and then make dinner.

Its just bliss and I dont want today to end and go back into manic work/communiting/activities tomorrow....

Gardenflowering · 10/05/2026 14:56

Oooooh!! Sun is out and there’s a breeze so the big stuff is on the line! LOVE washing drying days.

I’ve cut the grass which looks lovely, I’ve taken a load of cardboard to the tip, done the weeks shopping for under £85!!
Done the menu for the week, put 2 bags of soft plastics into the recycling bin at Aldi, baked a chocolate cake with ds and have a chicken in the slow cooker for dinner.
I’ve made a super healthy pasta salad for lunch and now im rewatching The Handmaids take with the same horror as when I watched it first time round.
It’s been a lovely lovely Sunday.
