@cupfinalchaos What’s a top London Japanese restaurant? Which ones have a Michelin star? No cruise ship has a Michelin star restaurant for obvious reasons!

Alaska - we last went on a 12 guest boat. Much better than being with 4000 others. You actually have wildlife encounters!

I’ve never been tempted to go on a cruise for lots of reasons but mainly because SIL loves them and she’s a massive twat.

I didn’t say that the restaurant on the boat had a star, only that the food was comparable to a top London restaurant. Personally I wouldn’t be on a boat with only ten other people unless they were friends.

This kind of thing happening is rare, so no, of course it wouldn't put me off.

Last time this kind of thing happened was early 2020 (6 years ago) when people were kept on board because of covid.

Never heard of this virus before, but I am sure some posters will claim they've heard of it, as they are really 'well read' and 'well educated. 'Wink

There was an outbreak of Hantavirus in one of the glamping type setups in Yosemite when we were in California once. That's the only reason I've heard of it before.

Yosemite Park-linked hantavirus kills third victim

Some 12,000 more people who stayed in California's Yosemite park are at risk from hantavirus, officials warn, as a third death is confirmed.

Well top London restaurants have Michelin stars and ship food is never ever near that. It’s impossible. It’s certainly not like Japanese food in Japan either with fantastic fresh fish!

This virus isn’t new and many thousands of people get it Worldwide. It’s possibly under reported as it doesn’t surface here much but can in southern Europe. It’s not usually on any government health warning either.

I don't like being out of my depth in water. I can tolerate a channel crossing but I would not sleep on a cruise.

I'm not sure if the entertainment is my thing either.

I can see why they are popular though.
