Morning all,
Yesterday was just a bad day here, both physically and emotionally and I started to cry in the afternoon and just couldn’t stop. We discovered yet another issue with the house that will need builders to look at and things just felt too much.
But after a much better nights sleep, I’m feeling calmer and hoping today will be a little more positive.

Currently having a cuppa and cuddling the dog. Restful morning planned ( think I’ve been pushing it and need to remember my slowly slowly approach)
Osteopath later. It’s a different practitioner as my lady has gone on holiday but it’s gradually helping and I didn’t want to miss a week.

Have a peaceful day everyone

I think sometimes we just need a good cry to let everything out, your doing so well enjoy your cuddles with the dog 🥰

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/06/2026 11:31

@TodayIsatrickyone hope you feel better as the day goes on. Tears can be such a safety valve sometimes. I am glad you can get some treatment today, it sounds quite bad so going weekly is bound to have an effect. I'm back in a week as well for my neck. It's amazing what can be done. I used to think it was my spine but it really is all muscular so steady treatment is the way to go.

I've just had a blow by blow account of DH clearing the sink. He has some super duper plunger and is always very proud when he finds where the blockage is! Ours turned out to be tea leaves caught in a stringy bit of vegetable...how exciting! Nothing like a drainage autopsy😃

JewelleryCat · 03/06/2026 11:37

It’s raining! Hopefully it will clear some of this humid air we keep getting

TodayIsatrickyone · 03/06/2026 12:20

Ah thanks for the support lovely people. I think maybe some of it was unleashed by talking to the therapist this week as well pushing a bit too much this weekend as I woke with that sudden adrenaline surge that night and heart palpitations and my worry head just took over as it does at 4:30 .
I think now I am improving I also had the sudden realisation too of how much worse it could have been. So trying to focus on being grateful as I have been very lucky, I’m improving week on week and yes there’ll be blips but I just need to ride the wave as the therapist told me!

@TeaAndStrumpets you do make me smile especially with your descriptions of DH’s antics 😊
Hope your neck is beginning to improve too. I’ve found it seems to be a couple of days later I’ll suddenly think, it isn’t feeling quite so bad. She did think it was affecting the nerve so that’s why I’m getting issues using my left arm. Frustrating as I’m left handed and automatically go to pick things up etc then have to swap! But hopefully as my neck/ shoulder improve, that will too.

martha79 · 03/06/2026 12:24

Laughing at the 'drainage autopsy' @TeaAndStrumpets

Good luck with the riding the wave @TodayIsatrickyone and I agree the crying is probably a good release.

I've been feeling a bit out of sorts since seeing the counsellor too, not helped by the fact I'm never sleep well at this time of year with the light, even with blackout curtains (I have to keep the door open for the cats so light still gets in from that side).

It's very grey here and an ordinary sort of day at work. Just settling down for a lunchtime nap.

ValleyClouds · 03/06/2026 12:50

@TodayIsatrickyone

I used to be quite the crier but I think something in me is actually broken because I no longer cry at “real things” but will completely breakdown at an episode of The Dog House. I think having a good cry is needed.

MewithME · 03/06/2026 13:17

Hello all. I've just been having my lunchtime lie down but next door have some workmen hammering in the garden. It's making me twitchy. I never trust what next door neighbours are up to.

Seems extraordinary timing. The old lady's funeral is in a day or two. At least it doesn't appear to be our adjoining fence. I've got my earbuds in.

I feel incredibly weak in my muscles at the moment. It's not a nice feeling. It's that weird pain that's perhaps lactic acid but I have a headache too today and my sinuses hurt. I'm sure it's the bloody MEcfs. What isn't the MEcfs? It's a ridiculous illness. 🙈

Weird situation today

I have CP and went today to get my nails done. The nail lady directed all her questions at the person supporting me including asking where I lived and whether I had DC

As a lifelong disabled person I AM used to it, but it doesn’t get any easier as I age. I just find it really dehumanising

So that was a nice outing spoiled.

JewelleryCat · 03/06/2026 15:57

I’m sorry @ValleyClouds that’s so unacceptable. Did you give any feedback to the salon about the experience, either you or the person who was with you? I hope the person you were with spoke up and said you were perfectly capable of answering questions

ValleyClouds · 03/06/2026 16:06

@JewelleryCat I’m trying to be fair and lean into “there were cultural differences” as neither the nail person nor the person with me was born in Britain or has English as their first language, though it doesn’t make a difference really because I’ve experienced just as much discrimination from native Brits…

How rude! Seething on your behalf. Was it a young person? In any event they need better interpersonal skills. I hope she didn't get a tip.

ValleyClouds · 03/06/2026 16:49

Yeah she was young, 20s I would have said, no, definitely no tip!

Swanhilde · 03/06/2026 17:19

I am home and it's the end of my working week 📯

Currently in bed with a cuppa and smelly cheese, tortilla chips and an apple. It's a weird food day all around as we have fried egg, beans and hash browns for tea 🤤

Early night planned as I am done in 🥱

Have a restful evening all 💕

Young people can be airheads really. Hope eventually the penny will drop. Xx

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/06/2026 17:32

I messaged DD2 for an update on how her DH is coping while she's away at a conference. Apparently 16 month old DGD thinks Mummy had been on a plane for the last 3 days. Normally when DD2 is at work DGD tells the ladies at nursery " Mummy singing" (they go to Mum and Baby choir). I bet from now on Mummy will be on a plane a lot!

ValleyClouds · 03/06/2026 17:45

@Swanhilde Breakfast for dinner is awesome

bedfrog · 03/06/2026 18:06

@TeaAndStrumpetslaughing so much at your drainage autopsy!!

@TodayIsatrickyonesorry yesterday was so crap. I do hope you've had a better day today

@martha79i always wake up at 4am this time of year. We have blackout blinds but the light comes round the sides, plus scotland so we have 1+ hour more daylight than most of England. It's beautiful but not when I'm trying to sleep!! Sometimes I wear a sleep mask but it makes my eyes sweat (ew)

@ValleyCloudsweird situation with the nail lady. Also she asked about kids but assumed you had no capacity? Very odd. I would maybe contact them even though you shouldn't have to. Some people just have no clue and I wouldn't blame cultural differences. Every culture has disabled people!!

@Swanhildelove your smelly cheese, I was just thinking you haven't eaten any in a while Grin

Well today has been fine. I did an errand this morning and dh has sorted out some car things that needed tinkering with. He really is so lovely and does my errands for me without even a flicker of complaint. I do manage to cook dinner (if he opens the tins for me!!!) but sometimes feel he gets a raw deal. He doesn't seem to mind at all, bless him. I don't get it at all!

Watching Time Team this evening (on YouTube) and doing some knitting. I've got leftover curry for dinner so I don't have to stand up for too long either. Still off sick from work but I've actually managed to leave the house a couple of times this week (!) so I'm hoping that means some improvement.

Hope everyone had a nice day Flowers

TodayIsatrickyone · 03/06/2026 18:10

Oh @ValleyClouds thats not nice! Sorry was what meant to be a pleasure was spoiled rather. Some people are thoughtless but that’s no excuse. They need to do better!

Ahh @TeaAndStrumpets I’m sure nursery teachers hear all kinds of things! It reminds me back in the day when I taught infants I once told a class they would have a different teacher the next day as I was going on a course. One little lad went home and told his mum I wouldn’t be at school the next day because I was going to play golf 😂 Always remember that one!

ValleyClouds · 03/06/2026 18:10

Yes I thought that was weird @bedfrog perhaps her curiosity wanted to know as a follow up if I had them were they also disabled ? It’s something I’ve known people be asked

bedfrog · 03/06/2026 18:20

Very odd and intrusive. @ValleyClouds cp isn't rare either, I'd be so surprised if someone had never seen or known someone with it before. There are even comedians on bbc with cp I'm pretty sure?!
Sorry you have to put up with rubbish like this Sad

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/06/2026 18:39

@bedfrog I love Time Team so much!

I sometimes feel guilty that DH does so much for me but he is the sort of person who likes to feel useful...he hates cooking but just gets on with it!

ValleyClouds · 03/06/2026 18:40

Yes @bedfrog Rosie Jones famously has CP, though the ableism around her is dreadful she receives horrendous abuse on socials and I’ve seen sly nastiness about her on here from time to time.

The young lady was from a country where attitudes to disability are vastly different

bedfrog · 03/06/2026 18:48

@ValleyClouds that's awful, the poor woman. Ableism makes me so angry 😠 the world is so hostile to disabled people when we are just trying to get on with our lives.

Me too @TeaAndStrumpets it's so gentle and fascinating isn't it?

JewelleryCat · 03/06/2026 19:00

@bedfrog would a tin opener help? Either an electric one or manual. This is similar to one I use https://www.qvcuk.com/kuhn-rikon-auto-safety-master-deluxe-can-6-1-opener-gift-box.product.836519.html?sc=srch and I find it very handy
