Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm drinking my first cuppa, in my conservatory spot, with dd1. She's up for work & made the brews. Cats have been fed and are mooching in here ekekek-ing at anything they see in the garden.

Dd's not actually at work until 1 but wants to go the opposite way, to the M&S foodhall first for her lunch 🙄. Plus it takes her that long to get ready to go!

Dd2's not up yet. She asked dd1 to wake her up when she goes up for a shower. Her plan is more maths revision - she's desperate to increase her grade, from 4 to 5, so she'll be accepted for an A Level rather than BTEC in one of her chosen subjects.

I'm off to B&Q for the gloss I didn't get last week! Also going to get compost to rescue a rose & have a wander of the garden centre - I really need to think about storage for loft boxes! When I get in, I'll start glossing the easy to bits of the conservatory, or sand the bookshelf I want in here so it's ready to paint over the coming week. Not sure which yet.

We'll order takeaway of some sort for tea, then it'll be showers and an hour or two with my book for me, before bed 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

I’m off to the Birmingham Hippodrome to see Waitress this afternoon 🎭😊

sidsgranny · 02/05/2026 09:07

My DF died 10 days ago so I'm going to my mum's to help sort through some bits. He was a bit of a hoarder so it's going to be interesting to see what we find!

Tonight will be wine and something on tv.

Rainbow1235 · 02/05/2026 09:09

good morning lucysmam and to u all I’m just having a cuppa then we got to be at garage at 11 as need to chose a new car .its a mobility one for our son so needs changing as we have had it 3 years now then will pop into the big home bargains there as I too want compost and I’m planning an afternoon of planting . Both your daughters work very hard lucysmam u must be so proud of them . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

RS1987 · 02/05/2026 09:13

It’s skip day! Currently putting groceries away and having a tidy up before we get started on the garden. DS is at football tryouts with DH and DD is chilling after a busy week. It’s my birthday tomorrow - so happy it’s a bank holiday!

frozendaisy · 02/05/2026 09:13

Morning morning
Happily drinking coffee
One washing load on line (only line load today it might rain later this afternoon so hoping it’s out early enough to avoid a tumble no biggie if not)
only other load today can’t do until teen comes back from chasing a ball around

Some clutter cleaning, 2 bathrooms to whizz over, then have to go big supermarket on A SATURDAY
I try to avoid this but last minute plans we have seven teenage boy gannets to feed this afternoon
seven of them
seven

so need drinks, snacks, some form of dinner, more snacks

and a lemon squeezer because I smashed ours cleaning it and I need to squeeze about 25 limes over this weekend

seven

so once they arrive we shall be “avoiding” teenagers (and chopping things)

they are all quite sweet so it’s just chaos but nice chaos

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 02/05/2026 09:14

Chilling in bed with cuppa and snacks. Cat on chair. Seeing friend for coffee later and pub tonight.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 02/05/2026 09:16

Done all housework. May go to shops through park.

Tiddlywinks63 · 02/05/2026 09:17

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, it’s a beautiful sunny morning here and I’ve been pottering around in the garden tidying up the pots of plants that need actually planting in the borders 🙄
I’ve evicted umpteen snails over the back fence into the woods, I’m sure they’ll be happier there, watered the dahlias and put out fat balls for the birds. The bird baths are topped up as are the bowls of water for the hedgehogs and dogs, so that’s all done.
I am having a cup of tea then tiddler and I are going down the Shed so I can do some embroidery. She’s had her walk with DH, he’s taking bigger dog out shortly then he’s going gliding I think. He hasn’t been for a number of years so it’s good he actually has rekindled his interest. He doesn’t have any hobbies unlike me, I have far too many!
I’m sorry for your loss @sidsgranny 💐
No idea what we’re eating today, there’s plenty in the fridge and freezer so I will dig something out 😊

Tangerinesattack · 02/05/2026 09:22

Sorry for your loss, @sidsgranny .

Tangerinesattack · 02/05/2026 09:23

Morning all.
I've had quite bad joint pain recently but it's pretty bad today so I'll rummage out pain killers in a minute and see if that helps. Doctor's appointment is booked. Hopefully I just need to tweak my HRT.
I've got some chores to do round the house but nothing too urgent. There's a market on in town with a pottery event so I'll take DS to that. A new Japanese cafe has opened up too so we'll pop in and get something if it's not too busy. Then a bath with a magazine and some wine. Dinner is steak and I'll hopefully watch a bit more of 'This is not a Murder Mystery ' which I started last night.
Have a great day everyone.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 02/05/2026 09:23

Good morning lucysmam and others. Sidsgranny my condolences.

Yesterday was very quiet. I've had 2 coffees and a bowl of porridge this morning. The i emptied and loaded the dishwasher and put the rubbish out. I'm heading out for second breakfast with a friend. She can no longer drive so I will pick her up then drop her off afterwards. Tesco are delivering this afternoon. In between I might carry on weeding and I expect a visit from ds whose washing machine has broken down, hence the visit! Dinner will be chicken and ham salad. Enjoy your day all

daffodilandtulip · 02/05/2026 09:31

Morning all!

Still getting back into my empty nester routine after daughter going back to uni. Flick between feeling lost and cleaning to forget, to just sitting and enjoying the silence. Got a new book and new embroidery set to start but not quite in the headspace yet. Son is approaching year one exams of a T Level so these count towards his final grade. So I’m chief snack provider and not seeing much of him either. Am seeing friends for coffee tomorrow and a walk on Monday, no plans today.

We did takeaways last night to celebrate the start of a long weekend after a loooong week, so maybe a pasta dish tonight.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 02/05/2026 09:39

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Saturday again & 2 days into a new month! Can’t believe it’s already May. Contemplating a 2nd cuppa (DH brought me one in bed earlier before he went to work). Done the dishwasher & risked putting my sheepskin slippers on a delicate cycle. Also tumble dried some knickers for today! I’m not dressed yet but once I am, I’ll pop to the PO to collect yet more parcels. Gone a bit mad on jewellery! The weather’s not good here so I can get on top of photographing all my charity shop finds ready to upload. Weekends are a good time to go on Vinted. The kitchen surfaces need a deep clean. DH will do the bathroom sometime over the weekend.I wasn’t hungry last night so tea will be what we were going to have then which is kievs, chips & peas. Might need to pick up a loaf but no other food shop needed until sometime after BH Monday. We got a new iron recently & DH is way better than me so will do a few bits, also for Vinted. DD17 was up relatively early & has gone out for a walk. We had a minor run in about who should be paying for what. It’s a tricky one. She’s not in education & hasn’t got a job (anxiety certainly doesn’t help) but also DH & I are not a bank! I think she will get a huge wake up call if/when she moves out. Watching BGT tonight, even though the audience drives me mad, then maybe a film. Have a great day all 🙂🙂🙂

sunnybluesky75 · 02/05/2026 09:55

Good Morning Everyone! Was up at 6:40am after being awake between 12:30-3:00 thanks dp for waking me up! I'm going to have my nails and lashes done at 11am, and then I'm coming home to pack as I'm going on holidays Monday! Have not tried my new clothes on yet though that were delivered Thursday..... fingers crossed they all fit! However weather is supposed to be cloudy and rain most of the week we are away 😩

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 02/05/2026 10:03

P .S Not to self - do not buy lemon Peroni Zero again! Lemon beer is not good! And that’s from someone who absolutely loves anything lemony!

BG2015 · 02/05/2026 10:08

Currently lying on a sunbed by the pool in Tunisia. Reading The Names, DP is listening to an audio book. Absolute bliss. Lunch at the beach bar later with a glass of wine and a few cocktails this afternoon.
Enjoy your day

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 02/05/2026 10:11

Note to self even!

DilemmaDelilah · 02/05/2026 10:36

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. @sidsgranny I am so sorry - this must be such a difficult time for you and your mother. One little word of caution about sorting through your dad's things... When you are first bereaved it is very easy either to get rid of things you later regret getting rid of, or to keep stuff you really neither want not need out of sentimentality. Depending on whether there is a tight timescale for the clearing out, I recommend not to do too much right now - just the obvious rubbish - and you wait a little while to deal with the rest. We went the sentimental route when dealing with my mother and my mother-in-law's things and ended up with some very ugly stuff of no value which is just in a box in the attic. When my grandmother died my mother and her siblings got rid of a lot of things, some of which were of little value but which I would have loved to have.

Anyway - today... I have made the bed and cleaned and tidied the room that my daughter will be sleeping in when she brings Houdini down on Thursday. Woo hoo! I'm so excited! There is a wash on, and I have another to go in. I have sorted out loads of clothes, a lot of which went to charity, some of which were thrown out, and a few went on Vinted. Mr Dilemma is currently out searching for an Inpost location with a free locker. I dread the Inpost sales - it can be so difficult to find somewhere to take it! Evri is so much easier for us - we can just walk down to the local shop.

I wrote to my demented uncle this morning - I'm just waiting for Mr Dilemma to come home to fix the printer connection so that I can print it and send it. He will have NO idea who it's from or what I am writing about, despite the fact that I send a family tree with every letter, but I know it will make him happy to get it.

I think Mr Dilemma is going to plant my marrows out today. I will have to supervise - he planted the celery out a couple of weeks ago and I hadn't realised he had planted it bang in the middle of a 4ft circular bed! I did ask him how he thought I was going to be able to pick it.... Plus I have earmarked the middle to plant my sugarsnap peas. Mr Dilemma doesn't see why I want the sugarsnaps at all - or any of the other vegetables really, but he's a good man and likes to make me happy. We had a deer in the garden yesterday, so I'm really hoping the cage we have put round the beds keeps them out of my vegetables.

I bought myself a little bunch of daffodils in bud a couple of days ago - now they are out I can see they are the ones with the lovely orange centres. They are giving me joy!

Tonight we are eating a ready-made dish of patatas bravas with chicken, which I will be serving with some fresh leeks we were given yesterday. I expect I will have a salad for lunch - maybe with a jacket potato if I have enough calories spare. I'm just about to check the back of the packet....

A group of us are catching the train into town for a spot of day drinking! 🍸 🍷 🍸 🍹 😁🤪

Kim82 · 02/05/2026 10:43

Good morning everyone. Just me and dd11 home today as dh is at work. I’ve been to feed my brother’s dog as he’s out this morning, I’ve put the food shop away and put my second load of washing in.

I really need to clean the house today as it’s not been properly done for two weeks (I was too busy last weekend) but I just really cba doing it, I’m shattered after a stupidly busy and stressful week at work. It needs to be done though so I’ll drag myself up after my cup of tea and make a start. Dd11 has a bowling party at 2pm today so I’ll take her there then back home to help dh try to fix the dishwasher as it keeps leaking and flooding the kitchen - just what we need! Sausage pasta for tea then DD’s friend is coming for a sleepover later. I’ll flop in front of the tv and watch something mind numbing before an early night I think.

Oh, and it’s mine and dh’s 17th wedding anniversary today. We evidently have a very romantic day planned 😂😂

Tarkan · 02/05/2026 10:49

Morning all!

I struggled to sleep all night as I had a horrible headache from the changing weather we had yesterday. I’ve woken up with it too. It wouldn’t be so bad if I’d been out drinking but I was just at home drinking water all night and painkillers just aren’t touching it. 😭

Tonight is my ladies darts team’s awards and party night so hoping I feel better enough soon to go enjoy that. The pub will be busy though as the men’s night out is tonight too and we didn’t think of May Day weekend when picking the date. 🙈

beachlovely · 02/05/2026 10:50

Good morning all, lovely to catch up with everyone’s news as always. I love the variety of the simple dog walks, chores and the exciting special events. Both have equal value on this gorgeous thread. A little snippet of Saturdays mornings across many miles.
It’s been a tiring week here; illness, exams, work stress and teens. Today feels like a reset. Rest, cooking, a walk, some tidying up. I’ve made some bread dough, done a YouTube yoga video, some washing and now sitting with a coffee and some gentle jazz music on. It’s bliss.

DilemmaDelilah · 02/05/2026 11:00

@Kim82 Happy Wedding Anniversary!

We don't celebrate our wedding anniversaries (one register office and a humanist celebration a year later) as they are both associated with sad events - but we do celebrate the day we met. 20 years in July!

Thislittlekitten · 02/05/2026 11:12

Good Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday squad

Woke up fairly early today and walked the dog. Had a cooked breakfast courtesy of DH and doing a bit of tidying. Our new dishwasher is working a treat after months of not having one. It’s made me ridiculously happy. Been so hard keeping up with dishes and the kitchen looks tidier already.

Going to pick up DS from friends soon then visit my parents. DD had a friends over tonight. Most of today will be pottering with jobs and reading. Will take DDog out again to the park.

Trying to capture one for the cats who’s been fighting it seems. Can see a cut on his ear. Doesn’t look too bad. I want to be sure. Our other cat is a home body. Never any issue with her!

Enjoy your Saturday everyone.

OchreSwan · 02/05/2026 11:14

Good morning all. Currently on a train to go and visit some friends for the weekend. Hoping the nice weather holds as ideally I’d like to spend the afternoon in a beer garden!

Was up early this morning to go for a run and do a bit of tidying before we left, so enjoying a bit of time to relax with my book and a cup of tea now for the rest of the journey.
