I follow Frankie Parker on Instagram - she basically makes massive sandwiches for her boyfriends lunch.
But three things
- She doesn't use a bread knife to cut the bread she uses a massive carving knife.
- She uses said carving knife to spread the butter.
Think these two things are basically her 'hook' so whilst I wouldn't do it like that I can shrug and think fine.
The third thing I cannot fathom.
She will take two slices of bread and rather than opening them out like a book and putting the spread on the two faces she will have the two slices stacked as the come out of the packet of bread/as cut, butter the top slice, move that out of the way and then butter the next slice. So the two buttered sides no longer fit together seemlessly. If it was standard square loaf type bread I could sort of understand but very often it's an artisan knobbly bread and for me it just doesn't work. And can't imagine it working for anyone.
I've not messaged her and told her she's doing it wrong (because I'm not a twat) , but it does give me stress!
How do others butter their bread?
