US considering de-recognising UK's sovereignty of Falkland Islands

Apparently as 'punishment' for us not getting involved in the US and Israel's war against Iran, the US is considering stopping recognising our sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, and presumably supporting Argentina's claim - after all Milei is a huge Trump bootlicker ally.

Daily Express link as I know many here will dismiss a BBC or Guardian link:

Spite possibly simply because the UK didn't meet US requirements regarding Iranian war.

Exactly- previously the US thought it had a good relationship with the UK where it thought it could rely on UK support in its foreign conflicts and in return supported the UK on their foreign policy positions and conflicts (such as the Falklands).

Now the US feels that this is no longer the case, so it's considering changing it's position on the Falklands from one of support to one of neutrality.

Odd that an ally would insult our Armed Forces (‘stayed a little back, off the front lines ’ ‘random country’) particularly given their service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This has got to be one of the most ridiculous explanations ever:

"You don't just judge on actions but motivation and context as well "

No what really matters is actions.

Its a bit like saying being punched in the face by someone because they don't like the colour of your skin or your religion is far worse than being stabbed multiple times by someone who simply wants to steal your phone or handbag because they need the money.

Spain actively supports the Argentinian claim, the US is threatening to move to a neutral stance. The Spanish position is more detrimental for the people of the Falklands than the US moving to a neutral position.

For a start the actions of Spain and the USA are not of equal weight. Spain’s position is not detrimental to the UK. It’s basically irrelevant. They’re not taking any actions and aren’t going to. The USA is far more of a loose cannon.

Why does the USA care about the Falkland Islands? Answer is that they don’t. Their position has always official been neutral anyway.

The action being taken isn't anything to do with a genuine issue on territory sovereignty, it’s an attempt to intimidate and threaten the UK for not being obedient enough. That’s why they’re acting this way.

Spain has a different stance from the UK and are not actively doing anything. They’re being bullied themselves by the USA.
Like I said the context for why Spain and the UK differ is wrapped up in both their empires. It’s nothing new.

@1dayatatime
Why should UK support this moronic war caused by Trump? He has not achieved anything apart from replacing one Khamenei with another one.
With regards to special relationship and supporting each other in conflict, it was Trump who ended it when he chose to stop helping Ukrainians in their war against the country who is the biggest enemy of the whole free Europe. Russians have been conducting hybrid warfare in the countries supporting Ukraine for the whole duration of the conflict. Yet Trump chooses to suck up to his pal Vlad. I think the whole thing shifted after that famous Zelenskyy’s visit.
