How can I stop thinking about a distressing news article? *trigger warning*

I’ve just read a news article about an absolutely horrific case of child abuse by a teacher called Jamie Varley. If you haven’t read anything about it please don’t, as I desperately wish I hadn’t.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can scrub this from my brain or stop thinking about it? I know the world is a cruel place but this is probably one of the worst things I’ve read and I need it out of my head.

@Fallox yes this is an absolute disgraceful situation and to be honest probably adoptive kids should have a chance at regular life mum dad.

I don't think lesbian couples or single women adopting is an issue

I do think that questions need to be asked about whether men only households should be allowed to adopt, whether gay male couples or single men. Is the risk of abuse arguably too high to allow it?

One of the first things I would implement is a need for a female caregiver in all adoptions.

Yes : arguably straight couples, lesbian couples and single women should at least ne preferred to single men and gay male couples.

It would be helpful to know which combinations of parent are most prone to abuse their children- it seems to me that the most horrific cases are with two males but actual statistics to guide placements would be helpful.
