What little acts of rebellion or activism do you do?

I’m not talking about going on marches, but minor things, that you know about.

Mine is I won’t play Michael Jackson songs, after all the alleged behaviour, which certainly wouldn’t be accepted by today’s standards.

The second is I won’t buy McCain products, after they put out an advert for Smileys, which referred to ‘knocker’s’ in them. I thought that language had died out in the seventies.

No. I don’t care. Who are you? The medical enforcement police?

No just seems strange to rebel against something that is so beneficial and most of people in poorer countries with no healthcare services would be delighted to be given the opportunity to be screened for cancer.

But you do you. Doesn't bother me one bit. Just find it odd that your rebellion puts your own health at risk.

Pyjamatimenow · 20/04/2026 22:15

I won’t watch Bridgerton or anything with that Nicola Coughlan in, I refuse to share my pronouns or put them in my email signature. That’s as far as I’ve got. I would like to be braver.

I keep a “guides against trans exclusion” badge on my uniform
separately, give blood because I once had a teacher tell me she hoped I got cervical cancer to teach me a lesson because I didn’t have the HPV vaccine due to needle phobia. As soon as I got older and could deal with them I caught up on all my vaccines and started giving blood as my way of putting two fingers up at her

That poster said that they crushed Israeli produce when they saw it in a supermarket.
Then they edited the comment out.

Thank you that is just plain stupid.

I am biased because being a guide was one of the most hideous experiences of my life and I hated every second of it BUT I can only imagine how much worse it would have been if boys pretending to be girls were included,

Still, sod the feelings of the girls presumably 🤷‍♀️

The parents were groomed as well, and were perhaps wowed that a megastar was interested in their families.

Can you imagine the outcry today if a popstar routinely shared beds with teenage boys, which was one of the claims allegedly.

Also, people say he wasn’t charged, therefore is innocent. Scott Mills has just lost the biggest job in radio broadcasting on a similar basis.

It wasn’t just “one of the claims allegedly” that he slept in the same bed as boys. He said it himself on TV and didn’t he say it was beautiful?

I deliberately scratch the cars that park on the pavements leaving me no choice but to take my buggy and kids out into the road.
If I'm not in a rush I knock on doors and ask them to move the car.

That’s criminal damage, and a shit example to show to your children.

It is all shits and giggles til you are caught. One day you will do it to the wrong person’s car…

well, having left my time machine at school, it's hard to say. I imagine more likely it was there to keep out travellers and ne'er do wells from a nearby industrial area which was well-used about 100 years ago but has been derelict for the last 40 years. This isn't deep, I just removed a trip hazard, that's it.

That you had no right to touch… okay then

FedAndWatered · 20/04/2026 23:21

Well who is going to be in the Daily Mail in a few days time? I bet this is a thread prompted by a journalist.

Listinggracefully · 20/04/2026 23:28

A friend of mine’s ExH is an author. Not a household name, but sells enough to be in most bookshops and supermarkets every so often. He treated her appallingly, so if I happen upon his latest book when out shopping, I hide it behind someone else’s book, or turn it around so no one can see the cover.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/04/2026 23:28

Mine is that I buy shit tons of stuff from Amazon (including several thousand pounds worth of laptops), which apparently is a ‘bad thing’ on here. Also buy Nestle products.!

Ooh and on the very odd occasion I have seen people stealing food (inc formula) in shops I have reported them.

Less sod the feelings of girls, more this situation means that it’s important to me that kids who might have a trans sibling or loved one know I won’t stand for transphobia in the unit if it arises.

I play Patriarchy Chicken when a man is walking towards me and there is only room for one of us - I have the bruises to show for it!

i love this! I do as well - I’m a 56 year old feminist (I was at Greenham) and I consider it a right of passage 😂 I smile sweetly as I refuse to move but in my head I’m all ‘come on motherfucker I fucking dare you’ . Something in my eyes must give it away because they bottle it every time

And if that stops some girls from attending? So effectively you are putting the feelings of boys in front of girls?

And what happens with the camp? Do the boys (sorry ‘trans girls’) share with the girls? As surely that’s a safeguarding issue.

Haha! The last time I did that neither of us budged until we were almost about to collide. He pressed himself up against a wall to let me past because I wasn't going to be the one to break!

He then said, "Well, excuse me!" Then walked away calling me a weirdo!

😂

A lot of people are like this. I won’t have breast screening or smear tests (not for the same reasons).

That would be hilarious. I'd say "oops!!" and wait.

But it's not happened in nearly 40 years.

I'm sure I read somewhere that MJ lost interest once the boys hit a certain age.

I try where I can to make ethical buying choices but also have a list of companies I’m boycotting because they’ve done something egregious towards me or even because they have a shit advert. The list is pretty long at this point.
