I’m not talking about going on marches, but minor things, that you know about.

Mine is I won’t play Michael Jackson songs, after all the alleged behaviour, which certainly wouldn’t be accepted by today’s standards.

The second is I won’t buy McCain products, after they put out an advert for Smileys, which referred to ‘knocker’s’ in them. I thought that language had died out in the seventies.

A man ploughed into my double buggy because we couldn't get out of his way. I was walking with my 5yo (she was holding it) and my husband who was shocked.

Plenty of space on the pavement but we were in his path and he couldn't possibly move a few steps to the side. He actually looked angry at us too. An entitled arsewipe.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten this one. There are people (well, mainly women) in my neighbourhood who walk side by side on the (narrow) pavement, each with a double or large buggy, chatting away, and seemingly not intending to move for me when I'm coming the other way, clearly on my own. I think they assume I'll step into the street.
I just keep walking without making eye contact, which usually works, and they stop and go single file. If that doesn't work I just stop and stand still and let them find their way around me.

I deliberately farted as I walked past Laura keunssberg during the time she was cosying up with Boris Johnson on the news every night.

how can you deliberately fart? I mean surely one is there or it just isn't?

Bedroomdilemmas113 · 20/04/2026 15:26

I refuse to buy anything from any store that Mike Ashley owns or has a part in, due to the way he treated (still treats?) his staff.

This can be harder than it sounds, when Flannels is often the only place nearby with last minute eyebrow appts at Benefit, or more recently was the only shop in the shopping centre that sold MAC (the foundation which I had lost and the brand I have have exclusively used for 2 decades without ever using anything else). So strong are my feelings that I found another foundation brand rather than give that man a penny.

My husband finds it both bemusing and amusing.

If a fancy car drives past, I deliberately look the other way, so as not to give them the attention they want 😁!

ha ha, me toooo

also do the same for souped up cars that make loud exhaust noises

Well, sometimes if I try really hard, out one comes (not the poster, just a casual flatulater)

I'm a lot nicer to dog-walkers who have rescue dogs compared to those who've bought their dogs.

I'm actively rude to people who replace their aging dogs with new puppies while the aging dog is still alive.

How would you know this? I have two beautiful pedigree dogs that I assume you’d think were bought from a breeder?

They were actually rescued from being breeding machines at a puppy farm, and look so ‘perfect’ that that’s what led to them being kept, abused and exploited in horrendous conditions until they were medically unable to produce any more litters and then were about to be discarded. Breeders want the most beautiful, breed typical pups so that’s who they use as their incubators.

Walking my pack, you’d assume I bought a load of designer dogs, when the reality is far from that.

That’s not quite the burn you think it is, because I don’t own any products by those companies!! Go and have a look at Jewish Voice For Peace, they are the honourable Jews

Yuk...what a foul specimen you are. But thanks for telling me how I can be an honourable Jew rather than just a plain old Jew or perhaps a dishonourable one...

I don't use self check-outs as they don't pay tax. #wealthnotgreed

I make a point of using self checkouts because you don’t have to chat shit

I don’t go to Pret A Manger as they didn’t give a shit about labelling their products even if that resulted in anaphilaxis reactions and a death. They may label properly now but under duress.

i don’t buy bottled water, I find the fact that we have been convinced to fork out good money, for something so basic and essential, atrocious. And that is before we consider the stupid amount of extra plastic we need to deal with.

The last one is more controversial, I chose not to recycle plastic, not because I don’t care but because as a country, we use more plastic than what we need to recycle so what is not recycled is sold to poorer countries, we are basically paying them to get our rubbish out of our view and our conscience and without our recycle means they are only polluting their own countries or poisoning their populations when they burn it, so I choose to use as little plastic as I can rather than recycling it.

I like this! I am rather half hearted about recycling plastic because I also think it's a bit of a con. Im not very good at avoiding it though 😥

why do the public want democracy when most would rather study football rather than fully study politics,

personally the public need a leader thats in power for years,

AmIReallyTheGrownup · 20/04/2026 15:37

As a fairly normal sized woman with reasonable personal hygiene, men make a beeline for me on commuter trains and buses to either take up part of my seat, or press their leg against mine. If they have a choice between an equivalent gentleman commuter and me, 9/10 they’ll sit beside me. I’m pretty sure this is a universal experience for most women.

If such a gentleman decides to join me on the train, I put my work rucksack on the floor between our legs to stop said manspreading and to make it more uncomfortable for them to collapse over my half of the train seat. Even better, most of them know why you’re done it and get a little bit grumpy.

Train seats ARE too small for modern commuters but it’s not my job to make it more comfortable for them.

I turn pro self ID books round on shop shelves if they’re being promoted.

Similarly I put good books on top of / in front of books promoting trans/non-binary ideologies

I make a point not to coo over or show any interest in someone's dog. So many dog owners seem to expect this now. It's weird enough that they treat their dogs like their kids but they now expect a random passer by to think they're amazing. No thanks.

Love me an actual human baby though and will coo over a strangers baby all the time!

I have told the NHS for 20 years that I will not attend for any kind of screening and to take me off the lists. They will only take you off the list if you sign a disclaimer, which is ridiculous. Each time I get an appointment I ring and withhold my name just to tell them I will not be attending, and why. They then relist the appointment and I don’t go. Thank goodness I am now of an age where they don’t give a shot whether I live or die.

Why don't you want any screening?

CrowsInMyGarden · 20/04/2026 15:39

I wont go to the chemists in my local Morrisons. I went to pick up a prescription years ago and the pharmacist said "oh I guess you don't pay for it" Why she said that I don't know. Did she assume I was over 60 when I was only 53? Or was she assuming I was on benefits. I don't know what she was thinking but it felt rude so I won't go back.

But also some 'slebs' do do actual good. Feargal Sharkey with the waterways for example. I don't mind if they get involved as long as it's knowledgeable.

Yes, I agree about Feargal. But he's not just virtue-signalling - he's very actively involved, and there's nothing in it for him - it's a comparatively unglamorous (but absolutely vital) issue. Good for him.

By virtue-signalling, just to be clear, I mean people who spout fashionable mantras and opinions at no cost to themselves, or with no effort. If a celeb feels really strongly about an issue, then they should go ahead and put in some work/time/money etc towards it, rather than just being all over X with their often half-baked views, as if that in itself makes them good people.

I've heard so many multi-millionaire celebrities haranguing governments about funding and (while this is a broader issue) I think, well, put you hand in your pocket then.

(Not quite the same, but I laughed when I heard Sophie Dahl (granddaughter of the horrible misogynist, Roald) appealing on the radio for donations to restore his Writing Shed at his luxury home in Great Missenden. Er...I think that family has enough dosh, frankly, to restore the ruddy shed themselves.)

I won’t buy from Currys due to their awful customer service and the way I was treated. AO all the way (their customer service is amazing in comparison).

The story (if you are interested) was I bought my son an appliance. They accidentally sent two. Contacted them immediately to report, which took ages due to having to find a way past the chat bot to a real person. After explaining situation several times, and a supervisor being consulted, I was told to keep it and someone would ring to confirm (I asked for this phone call - no one did). This took 45 mins! I kept the transcript.

I was very sceptical still so kept it fully boxed in store and ignored my son’s repeated pleas to sell it (and give him the money) or give to his friend’s nan! This in itself was very irritating and time consuming. Several months later I received a nasty email accusing me of stealing it! No way to reply to email or ring so had to bypass the bot again (another ages). Courier return arranged (I had to stay in for this! The refused to allow me to take it to nearest store). I put in a formal complaint. Complete waste of time. I was basically told they would do nothing about it unless more people complained (yeah, right) and was offered a £10 voucher, which I refused as I am never shopping at curry’s ever again!

I am definitely a one strike and you’re out with customer service - trumps price any day. I guess this isn’t rebellion but I still have residual rage over it so thought I would shoehorn it in!

Wtf, what is wrong with you? You know that people might park a bit funny because they need to get infirm older adult passengers or small children out or they simply need more space due to crappy knees that don’t bend as well as they used to? Who made you boss of the car park?

I thought that too 🙄 I also think it’s a load of bullshit. Who’s got time to stake out another car from across the car park, who do they think they are…Columbo?? 🕵️

I don’t buy Clark’s shoes since they refused to sell me the navy blue “boy’s” shoes DD had chosen, citing that boys and girls feet are different. My best friend is a podiatrist. She assured me that, at 2, they are not.

There was a local shop that sold trail running shoes, walking boots, socks, rucksacks, woolly hats etc. I can spend a lot of money on that stuff. The owner was very rude to me once - held her hand up at me in a “talk to the hand way” when I’d been waiting to come into the main part of the shop (it was COVID times) for 20 mine, with DC. I just wanted to ask if I could make an appt to come back. I got the hand when I tried to speak. I left. She business had closed down now.

Alpkit- just at the start of Covid they sold shares in the company. The comms they put out beforehand said that they wanted to thank their loyal customers etc etc etc and sell many low value shares to a lot of people, and they’d keep the share sake open for a week. What actually happened was they sold to a few big shareholders and closed after less than 48 hrs.

ComfyKnickers · 20/04/2026 15:49

I'm an ex teacher.

There's a shop that I used to frequent weekly that I haven't been back to since the owner suggested that INSET days are days off for teachers and that I was lucky to only work 9-3.30. Twat.
