Just seen on the news another attack against you. I want you to know that the vast majority of people are horrified by what is happening and give you their support. This is completely separate from the rights and wrongs of Gaza - this is people in the UK getting hurt and scared. It should not be happening.

You are not alone.

Dimms · 19/04/2026 12:33

It’s such a shame that you couldn’t get through a single paragraph without a low level dig about Gaza.

Onceuponatimethen · 19/04/2026 12:33

Please can we not mention Gaza at all in a thread about terrorist attacks against the Jewish community. It is irrelevant.

These attacks are racist hate crimes.

Binglebong · 19/04/2026 12:44

I mentioned Gaza in the hope that it would about people coming in and using it as an excuse for these attacks. Seems I failed. It was not intended as a dig .

You have an unconscious bias.

You have linked Jewish British people with what is happening in Gaza simply because they are Jewish.

VerityUnreasonble · 19/04/2026 13:11

I appreciate the post and the thought.

Comedycook · 19/04/2026 13:19

You probably mean well op but Gaza has nothing to do with it and didn't need to be mentioned. As a pp said, it's unconscious bias.

Binglebong · 19/04/2026 13:19

I have linked that people are using what is happening in Gaza as an excuse for what is happening in the uk. I do not believe anyone in the UK (or most of Israel) has any responsibility for it, any more than I have for the Gulf wars or the average American for Trump's wars.

OP posts:
Dimms · 19/04/2026 13:22

So if an American person was attacked, would you say, “I’m sorry you didn’t deserve to be attacked, despite the horrors the Trump may or may not have done”, or would you simply be sorry they’d be attacked?

Binglebong · 19/04/2026 13:26

If an American was attacked and someone was using Trump''s war as an excuse, yes.

HermioneWeasley · 19/04/2026 13:29

Let’s focus on the sentiment - British Jews are scared and unsafe. That is unacceptable and I stand with you.

Dimms · 19/04/2026 13:31

@Binglebong I know you believe you’re saying a good thing. But, you’re now refusing to consider that what you wrote is offensive to me as a Jewish person. So actually it’s not Jewish people that are your most important consideration here, it’s virtue signalling.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 19/04/2026 13:35

I heard that news today and was also horrified. Scary times.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 19/04/2026 13:38

I need to go and educate myself about what the accusations were historically of anti-semitism within the Labour Party. I remember all the furore over it but it passed me by as I thought it was just more mud slinging by the conservatives.

SpiceGirlsNeedAComeBack · 19/04/2026 13:40

Was no need to mention Gaza! But yes we are all furious on the attacks of british jews.

Binglebong · 19/04/2026 13:44

I apologise if I offended you, that was not my intention. I tried to prevent the thread turning into a discussion on Gaza, which is why I mentioned it, but as it has turned into one I clearly failed.

I'm going to leave it here (not flouncing but based on the evidence of other threads if I stop answering it will be said the OP flounce. I'm not, I just think this is getting away from the subject).

It was primarily mud-slinging from inside the Labour Party. Hundreds of complaints made by less than a handful of people. The investigation of the complaints was intentionally frustrated in order to smear Jeremy Corbyn and accuse him of antisemitism.

Ellaitchar · 19/04/2026 13:57

Wow. Unbelievable comments criticising the OP on here. She did a nice thing. The end.

I'm Jewish and felt nothing negative towards OP at all. Having said that, I also feel completely safe in the UK, always have done, and really don't get the almost frantic worry that many of my fellow Jews are displaying. Several, in fact, have talked to me about moving to Israel where they say they will feel safer. This despite it being blindingly obvious that they are many more times more likely to be killed for being Jews there than here (and would have to spend quite a lot of time in air raid shelters for being Jews there, compared to no time in air raid shelters here).

Thanks, OP, for your kind words.

I initially thought you were talking about Gaza until I read that sentence, so you've done nothing wrong in putting that.
I don't follow the news, so I don't know what attacks have been carried out in the UK.

Ihaveoflate · 19/04/2026 14:05

I appreciate to the sentiment, op.

I've also always felt safe but I have to accept that as a non-visibly Jewish person my experience may be very different to people who are more identifiably Jewish. However, I have to admit that even I felt slightly nervous going into shul (synagogue) the other day to collect something from the office.

I'm sure that other minority groups also feel vulnerable in this country at times, especially Muslims. I'm not sure we're special as Jews for fearing racist attacks, apart from perhaps ours come from both the left and the right.

It’s such a shame that you couldn’t get through a single paragraph without a low level dig about Gaza.

But the two are connected, as far as the perpetrators are concerned.

It doesn’t make it right, but there’s no escaping that fact.

MeridaBrave · 19/04/2026 14:09

Sigh. Why mention Gaza? Like it’s anything to do with me?

Thank you @Binglebong a kind thought appreciated by this Jewish Mumsnetter.

As for Jeremy Corbyn - the anti semitism he is accused of wasn't all 'primarily mudslinging' by inside the Labour Party'. As leader (who lost not one but two general elections) he consistently failed to accord antisemitism the status of racism. Many Jewish female Labour MPs left the Party as a direct result of the toxic atmosphere Corbyn presided over.

Because prior to this, anti Semitism just didn't exist, did it?!

Yes it did. But now some idiots think it’s justified, and are ramping it up.
