Recommend me a top tier four slice toaster

Our toaster just died.

I'm sick of buying crap toasters.

I wanted a decent four slice toaster that is a pleasure to use, and will fit all sorts of sizes and thicknesses of bread.

I feel like I want it to have two separate levers so if toast on one side is halfway through, you can start a new piece on the other side.

I feel I deserve this. It's finally time to live like I'm a success!

Dualit, had ours 12 years. We have the classic.

My Dualit kettle is 23+ years old and has always worked perfectly.

Ours lasted 25 months and at the point of purchase it wasn't commonly known that they weren't repairable.

Classic Dualit for me, 4 slice. Replaced the first elements last year (2 of 5), bought the elements and got repaired at our local repair cafe for £10 donation. Not sure how old the toaster is, at least 25 years old!

We have this. It was torturous trying to replace the breville one we got as an engagement present in 2001! DH even made a slice of bread template to ensure they took a standard sized piece of bread. Loads don't.

The main reason I don't like the classic Dualit is that you have to cook all the toast on the sane schedule or wait until what is in there has finished. Whereas most normal 4 slice toasters are basically like two separate 2 slice toasters attached together - so if one side has bread halfway through toasting, you can start a new piece on the other side without having to wait.
But I realise I will pay for this requirement by having a toaster that won't last 20 years!

Dualit Classic 4 slice. We have had ours 18 years. At one stage a heating element stopped working and I bought a replacement for £10.50. When following the you tube video to fix it, it started working again and no problems since Grin

They’re British designed and made, and designed to be fixed either by sending it off to them, or doing it yourself. They are so simple mechanically and electronically that they’re basically indestructible and if there is a problem the the part can be changed.

They look great too!

I really like the 4 slice dualit architect, as we definitely need two independent sections as kids like different browness and often we need to start a new piece while another is halfway through.
Those who are pleased with them, how long have you had them? A few are saying they don't last long...
I see dualit are offering them refurbished for just over £100

I’ve had mine since I left home in 2015! Going strong. Many slices of toast per day

Dualit. Every time

Or you can switch on the other side, put the additional bread in, and then add more on the timer when you get the first lot out. Not quite as slick, but only a few seconds extra hassle.

We have a dualit (2 slice) and it toasts one slice more than the other! We were expecting it to be great so it's really annoying!

My 4 slice Dualit is the same! But can’t justify buying another!

Also look out for one that fits all the new fancy bread that is giant compared to old loaves and never fits!

I bought a basic dualit toaster recently and one side is already a bit intermittent but I can't find the receipt to return.
I had a dualit years ago that lasted ages, where you lifted the toast out in a little basket, and it had a proper timer.
I think it's disappointing that the modern dualit toasters don't have the same quality or durability.

I’m selling my delonghi toaster if you’re interested. It’s brill! Selling it because I got an air fryer toaster oven and I have limited space

We had a Dualit small toaster, 2 slice. It lasted well so replaced with another that looked much the same. Nowhere near as good. Replaced it with a much cheaper one from Argos/Habitat which we like. My requirements are very different from yours OP as we have tiny little nook corner counter where toaster and kettle do their thing and big toaster wouldn't suit us.
