School car crash - are the police being thrown under the bus?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15732723/Police-biased-female-killed-girls-crash-Wimbledon.html

I remember starting a thread on this some time ago and I think the general conclusion was that epilepsy (undiagnised) would in all likelihood be the reason for this tragedy given the cirumstances. there was a long discussion about the nature of this consition.

There was also the feeling that the parents should grieve and let go after this tragedy yet it appears the thing has escalated to involve racism and questioning of the investigation resulting to my mind the police being pressured to make another arrest simply because the senior met didn't like the optics of this rather than material change in circusrance.

Are those investigating officers being thrown.under the bus because the met politically would like to see something done here with a rich white woman being talked when there seems to be no evidence at all she didn't have a seizure? If it realistically can't be proven a seizure didn't occur aren't we headed for a painful trial for the parents where they gain will feel justice won't be done???

Police 'biased towards driver' who killed two girls, relatives claim

It has now emerged that the families of both girls and other surviving victims have complained to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) alleging 'unconscious bias'.

It feels as though some people want the driver jailed guilty or not. That's revenge, not justice. None of us writing here have any real knowledge of what happened and the aftermath, there is plenty of speculation. there seems to be a bias against rich white women here. Unfair as any other bias.

I have a friend who had her first seizure in her 50s, she initially thought it was an "upgrade" of the migraines she was prone to. She had another and this time her husband saw her so was able to explain what he saw. She was put on meds and hasn't had a seizure since - 15 years and counting.

No there isn't, what there is, is the demand for justice to be seen to be done.

The IOPC wouldn't open further investigations unless there is questions over the original one...... disciplining the original officers is not enough IF they acted improperly.

Any investigation into this incident should be welcomed by Freemantle (assuming she is innocent) this is her chance to clear her name, once and for all.

outdooryone · 15/04/2026 14:06

I agree we do not know enough of the case details to comment on why an investigation is underway - or what that investigation may show.

Aside from all the questions about the driver involved, there are wider questions of why as a society we think it acceptable for cars (particularly oversized, over powered, hulking things like this) are allowed around children, schools, homes, pavements, cyclists etc. Why as a society do we not enforce our 'hierarchy of road user responsibility' more rigorously though other laws. I am amazed how slack we are with poor driving around children and schools in the UK.

All this of course is after the fact of this case and too late to save the girls. But maybe we should consider this for the future.

RudolphTheReindeer · 15/04/2026 14:40

I don't know. I guess we'll find out when the investigation concludes...

TheLargeOnes · 15/04/2026 14:52

I wonder if Ms. Freemantle would be happy with a substandard investigation if it had been her little girl killed by a car at a school event. I think we know the answer.

Fends · 15/04/2026 15:06

I take it you’re the driver since you’re very quick with the links to back her up.

She’s driving the same car around the same area knowing what happened. That’s pretty twisted

That’s awful if that’s true

This bizarre, possibly AI-written article by a non-existent 'journalist', comes up when you google CF's name.

Curiouser and curiouser ...

Yes I came across this. It’s so bizarre a very poor attempt at trying to garner sympathy for her, Freemantles should get a refund.

OP - I’d get your thread title changed if I were you.

If there is evidence of an undiagnosed episode why on gods earth was she driving a beast of a car that could cause such horrifying damage.

Why not drive a smaller car that could have had less impact in case something happened. Why not be sensible and take precautions rather than have a 2 ton car that resulted in the death of two children.

If it was undiagnosed how on earth could she predict this? Should we all be driving around in minis just incase? You can never prepare for that first ever seizure in the same way you cannot prepare for a stroke or heart attack. It could happen to any of us

I don't know anything about this womans personal life or net worth but I do know about epilepsy and a first ever seizure is not beyond the realms of possibility.

@SalmonOnFinnCrisp I wish Mrs freemantle (and her fancy house which she interior designed and bragged about it a magazine which her fancy lawyers then scrubbed from the internet) no health, no happiness and no peace.

It was in that magazine article that she stated she had epilepsy. Proof that she lied about never having had a seizure prior to the Wimbledon incident.

RudolphTheReindeer · 15/04/2026 20:49

Surely her medical records would show if she'd been diagnosed with epilepsy either before or after the accident so the police/CPS should already know either way and would have been able to check with the DVLA whether she should have been driving or not?

How do people know she is driving now?

Wishitwas1996 · 15/04/2026 21:42

A word of caution…as soon as this case became headline news again, there will be damage control in the form of social media postings.

lovealieinortwo · 15/04/2026 21:45

It just feels like a vendetta where the parents just want to see a woman jailed no matter the circumstances of the tragedy.

You think 11 police officers, including a Commander are being investigated because the parents have a vendetta?!

Wishitwas1996 · 15/04/2026 21:48

Perhaps one of the questions is whether epilepsy was actually suspected prior to the accident and this covered up. I have had discussions with private doctors which appear nowhere on my NHS records.
Were investigations sufficiently thorough?

Tigerbalmshark · 15/04/2026 21:48

Froschlegs · 15/04/2026 07:33

How do you know this? Are you saying she never stopped driving after the incident?

She was spotted bombing around Wimbledon Village in one of her other cars a couple of weeks later. So no, didn’t stop driving at all. This is partly what has led to the school and families’ outrage.

I’m not defending her in any way. Just she may be legally allowed to drive now. Whether she should be or not is a different question.

Trampoline · 15/04/2026 22:14

It was widely reported that she had surrendered her license - google The Times/Telegraph articles.

PolkaDotPorridge · 16/04/2026 11:36

She’s an absolutely hideous, dreadful woman. A rotten husk of a human. I too wish her no happiness and no peace, ever. Just as the families of those poor little girls will have neither.

My BIL has epilepsy has periods when has been allowed to drive when have assessed he hasn’t has a fit for, I think, a year so it is possible the is driving again legally if her epilepsy is confirmed to be controlled by drugs for a long period…
