Judge my tub of butter...

I have a theory that you can tell a lot about a person's disposition by the state of their butter/marg.

Anyone else dare to bare all?

What to you think I'm like based on my tub? It's "I can't believe it's not butter" (photo probably awaiting approval

Crumbs in butter are antisocial. We have fixed ideas about butter management. DS uses it from one end, leaving the paper attached on top. Fortunately he has moved out.

Bjorkdidit · 13/04/2026 10:00

I judge you (and everyone else who does it) for calling it butter when it's not.

Every time I'm offered 'butter' I have to ask 'is it butter' to which they say yes, even when I can see that it isn't. If it's not butter, as in the product made from milk and salt and nothing else, I don't want it.

Dozycuntlaters · 13/04/2026 10:01

My margarine looks just like that. I have a colleague who has a thing about how you spread butter from the container, and he says mine is awful because I 'hack" at it. If I ever run out and have to use his, it makes me nervous as I have to make sure I don't make any marks on it. Fucking madness lol.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 13/04/2026 10:03

Another that has real butter

But I hate it when people scrape along the top, butter should be sliced from the end so it always remains in shape.

ClaredeBear · 13/04/2026 10:04

There are no crumbs and that’s the most important thing. I think you are a person who has be burned by a mould incident. I think perhaps you don’t have teenagers.

Parsleyforme · 13/04/2026 10:09

Mine is crumb-free and much like yours. But my sister’s has not only crumbs but smears of marmite in. Thankfully I don’t have a photo

Claudiasfringebenefits · 13/04/2026 10:20

I can’t see crumbs so I’m ok with appearances but I would rather butter!

TheCurious0range · 13/04/2026 10:23

I would think you are my husband but there are no crumbs

Hayxfever · 13/04/2026 10:26

If my butter looked like that it would be in the bin.

Thunderpunt · 13/04/2026 10:28

Who the heck uses a serrated knife to get butter/marg out? Absolute abomination - a smooth knife please!

Villanellesproudmum · 13/04/2026 10:35

I think if I post mine many people will freak out at the horror of it.

HortiGal · 13/04/2026 10:35

We get it’s just marg but are you trying to hack it to death?
Thats on a par with the folk who leave have the layer of foil on 🤬

Psychopaths everywhere, the top of my butter is smoother than it came out of the factory 😆ok maybe I'm the psycho

In my defence, I'm on my own for the next two weeks so no one else will be subjected to this.

Also, I'd just done the dishes and didn't want to dirty a knife so smeared rivita directly over it. Hence the crumbs.

Just finished the block of butter so mine doesn’t show much.

Denby? If so I have the same butter dish.

I don’t put a whole block out at once because DH leaves crumbs in it 😬 so I ration it and leave the rest in the fridge.

Edit: like the picture above 😫

Wholelottawoman · 13/04/2026 10:48

Looks like one person would like to use it evenly from the top, while another just gouges out of the middle & doesn’t give a shit. Similar to ours & sums us up generally. I remove foil completely, he gouges a hole in it 😣x

I love the comments on the fact that it's not butter 😂 I have a milk allergy. I'd love the real stuff

This is mine… lactose free. You should try it! It’s the best tasting one I’ve ever found in this country

That's the most unhinged thing I've ever read 🤯

Yesterday’s toasted bagel crumbs… but I’m the only one who eats it in my house so they’re my crumbs 🙈

That looks really synthetic. I don’t get the Lurpak love, good quality British butter is easily available. If you want “easier spreading” M&S Softer is the only one without oil or cream added
