That is appalling .

Piggywaspushed · 20/04/2026 20:14

That's really bizarre.

On another note, signing in as a fully paid up member of the Diane Abbott fan club. Seems I have company. Unusual for MN.

Piggywaspushed · 20/04/2026 20:15

Chyrons is a new word for me. I like new words.

OMFG I had to go and check that this ACTUALLY happened.

Since when does the BBC ever do chyrons with a political party's branding, rather than their own? Not to mention this is during a pre-election campaign purdah.

Let me guess, GB News does similar.

Karistyleaftea · 20/04/2026 20:26

They've done it in front of No 10 too, subliminal messaging for the easily manipulated .
i really am astounded and cannot see how the BBC can ever claim to be unbiased in their Political reporting now .
Just before the upcoming local elections too.

cardibach · 20/04/2026 22:15

I’m a long term Abbott fan, @Piggywaspushed but just lately she’s turned me off a bit.

PickAChew · 20/04/2026 22:21

It's yet another thing happening in plain sight. Hopefully someone in a position to make a thing of it pulls them up for it.

So the BBC are trying to out perform Reform UK GB news?

Have you read her book? It's excellent. Really interesting.

And as their charter’s due to be renewed. Nandy needs to be all over this - in what world is that politically unbiased?

I don’t know why they bother trying to please Reform - Farage is financially tied to GBNews as is half of Reform. It’s in his interests to denigrate them.

Do you think they’re forward planning, to be allowed to continue in the event Reform win the next election? Thinking how Trump organises his pressers etc?

Or do you think they’re just orders/direction from above? I presume the latter I suppose.

My parents were once horrified (and told me off) when I said a BBC news article wasn’t quite accurate - in Covid. I guess I grew up with belief in their impartiality- so it’s quite disappointing when you realise differently- quite scary now I see how far it is going.

Notonthestairs · 21/04/2026 07:47

I think it’s orders from above as an attempt at self protection - but it’s pointless.

The billionaire media owners don’t want the BBC to exist - they want their versions of Fox News. And Farage is their employee.

Efacsen · 21/04/2026 07:56

Also appalled by BBC - what on earth were they thinking

BIossomtoes · 21/04/2026 07:57

Is it just coincidence that they’ve started this just after the new director general has taken up post?

Notonthestairs · 21/04/2026 08:03

They didn’t bother covering the most recent Tice’s tax dodging at all.

It’s not the BBC job to back a ‘winner’ - they are supposed to leave that to the billionaire owned The Sun etc.

But you’ve illustrated perfectly the weird view of Reform.

Remember what Piggywaspushed said, folks 😊

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2026 08:49

Not sure how that is a hint

You make assumptions, we do the same.

I don't understand the BBC bias towards Reform. Farage would love to burn the BBC to the ground.
