I never choose the favourite I just look at the list of names and choose a couple that jump out at me. Today I’m going for Spanish Harlem and stellar story.

I find it so odd that for people that are so against this sport know so much about it. Almost like they tuned in and watched it 🤔

No , funnily enough I can read .
And I saw there were 34 runners , 16 came home .
As I can do maths as well ,
7 unseated the jockey so disqualified
4 pulled up
7 fallers

I have no wish to watch it .
There's a photo of Get On George who broke his rear fetlock ( shin bone ) the angle of his leg would make you sick .

And I would sooner run round the course naked than put a bet on the race .

Overweight and stupid. Stupid because why else would a woman dress like a clown and go to an event where animals are ill treated and killed for their pleasure?

I hope some of them read here (if they can read) and realise there is more to life than getting their cumbersome bodies in the papers.

Agreed. They do look a mess. Definitely a type that frequent these events 🫣

I'm convinced you're just an ignorant wind up merchant as no one can be this dim?

You'd think but apparently it's the majority of people commenting that need to educate themselves.

Be good when the schoolkids get back to school and stop starting goady threads.

Ah bull fights
They are still going on, I was in Spain last year , the tour guide said in passing that was the site they used as casually as that's where the local football team plays .
I had no idea this still went on but also sickened that a huge number of tourists still see this as a highlight of their trip. UK tourist amongst them.

There's a thread on TackRoom about the Tenessee Walking Horse , it is an inhumane practice "BigLicks" they call it . I'm not a fan of dressage but the TWH is worlds apart ! Why would someone do this?

I forgot to mention fox hunting and beagling. I used to follow the fox hunt on foot and I went beagling, too. All great fun. You’re out in the fresh air getting exercise and you’re part of a local and ancient tradition and community. It really is great.

Until I thought about it.

And now I know even more about what happens to the dogs, too.

I haven't seen anyone dressed as a clown, you've obviously paid a lot more attention to them than I have. Just for a moment, take the whole horse racing subject out of it and think of how you are judging people for their body shape and what they choose to wear. You're letting your emotions get in the way. No matter what they're doing, you can't get away with insulting people for how they look. As for their clothes, they can wear whatever they like and I bet you would normally agree with that.

Go for a whole hand , push the boat out Hmm

And I think it quite repulsive that you make a ? joke when I said in my post that a horse snapped his fetlock . Obviously the true losers of your Fun Day at the races aren't even on your radar ?

Enjoy your winnings
30 pieces of silver ( it's from the Bible don't try and bust a brain cell working it out )

@LiveShots "Backing The Real Whacker, which means backing more than a horse."

And then whipping the horse with a broken back over the finish line - for money. Hopefully you might see how this would induce the vast majority of decent people to ask for the sick bucket. But I won't hold my breath.

Differing views, differing experiences.

The stable and training yards around us provide jobs, provide a broader ethnicity in an otherwise white/British environment, help rural communities to thrive, including keeping small schools open & shops with customers.

The training is highly professional, top equipment, specialist support. The horses, close up, are athletic and glow with health.

These communities would not exist without the training yards (or would just become another ‘ghost’ of an area full of mainly empty holiday homes).

Not differing views at all. Just some people are decent empathetic humans who can't abide, let alone be entertained by, cruelty and suffering and others are severely lacking.

But as long as the pony crowd are happy, the discarded animals are out of view and people are making money everything is just ticketyboo isn't it 🙄

@golla346 "I find it so odd that for people that are so against this sport know so much about it. Almost like they tuned in and watched it"

You find it odd that some people actually have intellectual ability? Well that figures. I don't like what's happening in many parts of the world and I don't like to see animals tortured for money and fun. So I acquaint myself with the facts. It enhances the ability for independent thought. Try it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/04/2026 17:56

Their pics have come up on another forum I am on, ....and yes, some of the women look like clowns, overweight, over-made-up, over-indulged, classless clowns.

I can indeed post my opinion, just as you can, and I do agree people can wear whatever they like. However, these women are vying to be seen and commented on, that's one of the reasons they are there, so comment I will.

You don't like my comments.... I don't like that you are more concerned with comments about fat foolish women than horse cruelty.
Such is life.

That’s just silly why torture yourself? I don’t like the Asian animal markets with animals crammed in cages getting ready to be slaughtered for meat so I don’t go actively looking for them. I know nothing more than that really because I don’t want to know the details. People who cry about horse racing then go searching for the results are just strange people that like winding themselves up into a frenzy and then coming here with the moral high ground while probably being meet eaters and having a season pass to a zoo.
