Good morning all! What are you all up to today?

I'm in my conservatory spot, just drinking my first cuppa of the day. Boy cat is diving round like a loon & girl cat had pinched a tiny clothes pattern I made ages ago for a peg doll - I've just taken it away.

My plan today is to actually finish off the kitchen - it's taken longer than I thought but today should be it! There's a little bit more painting to do, and then a bit of diy that hopefully won't take long!

Once that's done, I need to head to the small Asda down the road. We've been running on fumes for the past week ish so really need to do some sort of shop!

Dd2 will probably revise something and have a nap 💤. I'll make sure she has ten mins tidying her room too - that tactic seems to work better than a big tidy.

Tea will be leftover takeaway, with a glass of wine for me, followed by showers, finally finishing my crochet church, and an early ish night for me 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam

I like the sound of your new conservatory spot and glad to hear you are all moved in.

I’ve had an early Asda shop delivered, so bunged that all away and now trying to wrestle myself into the shower.

I’m meeting a friend for a late breakfast and then back to take the dogs for a run in the woods. Also need to get the slow cooker on and try a new recipe from Taming Twins, it’s a chicken chilli and looks delish.

I’m like your daughter and also need to tidy my room!! So will get on with that later.
I’m also desperate to see Project Hail Mary, so may see if I can get one of my lads to do with me.

Have a great Saturday!

Off to orienteering with the small one. Then meeting a friend for coffee and cake this afternoon.

Ignoring the housework

DilemmaDelilah · 11/04/2026 09:26

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

We only got back after several days away visiting Mr Dilemma's family 6 hours away yesterday evening. It was a gruelling journey with lots of traffic delays of various kinds - one necessitating quite a detour, so it actually took us 7 1/2 hours. So... We are tired today. There is a possibility that SIL, youngest granddaughter and SILs new family might pop in to see us on their way to Cornwall today - so this morning will be spent getting the house guest-ready. Mr Dilemma is also going to pop out to pick up a parcel that arrived while we were away.

We have not planned ANYTHING else - apart from some laundry. I have no idea what we're eating tonight, apart from the fact that Mr Dilemma will want a takeaway and I'm going to try very hard not to succumb to his blandishments. We ought to eat something from the freezer - we have plenty of things that need eating. I fear that we will actually have takeaway curry... I really feel like having a curry.

Shedmistress · 11/04/2026 09:28

I'm off out to look at another house, after trimming some mugs I threw yesterday for a friend and having halloumi toastie for lunch. Then will do more pottery later when we get back.

Tangerinesattack · 11/04/2026 09:29

Morning all.
Quite a busy day here today as our in laws are arriving later so lots of cleaning and cooking going on. We've also got the last few bits to pack as DH and I are heading off for a child free break to Turkey tomorrow - cannot wait! It's been a tricky year so it'll be lovely to get a proper break. DS didn't fancy it and decided he'd rather stay home to get spoiled by his grandparents so no guilt here, either.
We're making a Jamaican inspired feast for dinner with slow cooked jerk gammon and lots of sides .
Have a great day, everyone.

Thislittlekitten · 11/04/2026 09:29

Good Morning @lucysmam and Saturday Squad.

I’ve had the dog out already for a big walk. Now we are having a cuddle on the sofa, me with a cup of tea.

Not sure of today’s plans, kids away today, DH is feeling a bit ropey. I plan on making some bacon rolls soon. Probably reading my book and more dog walks. I’ve had to readjust some medication so taking it easy too hoping it will help my stomach settle. Seems to be working but just being careful with what I eat and do.

No idea about tea tonight. Will had a think and see how we feel.

KnitWitsAnonymous · 11/04/2026 09:31

I was up bright & early as I'm expecting a grocery delivery. I've cleaned and tidied the fridge ready for all the new groceries. I started Slimming World a few weeks ago so my fridge will be full of healthy, low-fat supplies

I've tidied the downstairs and watered all my houseplants while I wait . . . and wait . . . .for the delivery

I'm going to be looking after my friend's dog for the rest of the day. She suffers from separation anxiety so we'll go for a long walk and then she'll cuddle up to me for the rest of the time but won't let me read or knit!

I've ordered a new bullet journal from Amazon and am looking forward to it arriving. I'm hoping to make a start on setting it up after my friend collects her dog this evening

Food is all sorted ~ the slow cooker is on. I'm having a vegetable hot~pot for dinner and lunch will be the famous MN massive salad!!!

itsallabouttheorange · 11/04/2026 09:33

I was going to garden today, plant some summer bulbs, but it's looking quite wet and grey so I might just paint the kitchen instead or be lazy and just tinker on my piano. My daughter us having a sleepover so it's an easy puzzle tea for everyone including her friends.

OchreSwan · 11/04/2026 09:35

Morning @lucysmamand all!

Just drinking coffee number 2, had toast for breakfast, already showered and mostly ready for the day.

Steeling myself to do a bit of housework before we have to leave in an hour to run some errands in town. DP has an appointment so I’ll get to sit in a coffee shop with my book while waiting for him, and I think we may stop for some pizza at a favourite little lunch place.

Then back home and hoping to fit in a bit of packing for our holiday (we leave tomorrow evening) before heading to a friend’s engagement party. Not sure how late we’ll stay as it starts early, and I don’t think we know too many other people going!

Hope everyone else has a lovely Saturday.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 11/04/2026 09:36

Good morning lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees, a cuppa and a croissant with jam. The bed is stripped and all the whites are washing away in the machine. The dishwasher has been loaded and will go on shortly. I'll tidy the boys' room later before they descend on me on Monday. Some polishing and hoovering to look forward to as well. Tesco will deliver later. Dinner will be pie, chips and beans. A very ordinary day. No gardening because of heavy rain. Enjoy your day.

Simonjt · 11/04/2026 09:39

Good morning, our youngest has an MRI this morning, so she’s moaning she’s hungry, she has had one before awake, but we have to stop her eating just in case she needs to be asleep for it. She’s fine, it’s just related to her cerebral palsy.

If she has it awake we’re off to Mcdonalds and then a play centre afterwards, if she does my husband will take her own and the oldest will still get the planned day.

We have no plans for this evening, so we might make some popcorn and have a film night.

Have a nice saturday.

lucysmam · 11/04/2026 09:42

@DilemmaDelilah I'm on Team Takeaway curry 😋!

@FayKnights I really like the conservatory - this is my next room to decorate - not much to do in here - fresh neutral paint, some fairy lights & a few unkillable plants, booze cabinet in the corner (to buy at some point - I've seen an Ikea hack I want to try!). Unfortunately, it's still home to things that would be in the loft 😥, and the tool box while we decorate.

@KnitWitsAnonymous I like the idea of a bullet journal, I even bought a suitable book at one point, but I get stuck starting 🙈.

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone, it’s a damp, blustery morning here, the sun’s trying to break through the clouds.
I’ve done the ironing, cleaned the bathroom and loo, tidied the bedroom and bought a new cordless vacuum cleaner as our very heavy one has died.
DH has been for a haircut and is about to take bigger dog out, tiddler went early.
I’m going to make a cup of tea then settle down with my embroidery. I’m struggling with my recent diagnosis and in desperate need of distraction. I have been prescribed some Valium but I’m trying to avoid taking them unless really need to.
Jacket potatoes with tuna and sweetcorn for dinner, my appetite is really poor so not sure what I fancy.
Nothing much else going on here!

LemonVerbenaGeranium · 11/04/2026 09:50

Morning all! Grey and drizzly here, and our lightweight greenhouse blew over in the night, so I need to sweep up some soil in the rain once I’ve had my cup of tea. DH has now weighted it down with some bricks, so it shouldn’t happen again.

Later on I’m going to take DS to a new local bookshop for a coffee as a break from his revision, then need to mop the kitchen floor and tackle the ironing. DH is making a curry tonight, and we will catch up with this week’s episode of Race Across the World which we missed on Thursday.

thebeautifulsky · 11/04/2026 09:57

Good morning @lucysmam and all,

I've just finished cleaning the fridge before doing the food shop. We had the grandchildren all day yesterday so have to do a big tidy later on. Now the sun in shining, I can see lots of little handprints of the windows. Very cute but they have to come off.

I'm going to try to make a basic doll's house out of cardboard boxes this afternoon for the DGC to play with next week (we look after them a couple of days every week). Our 3 year old DDC is into small world stuff at the moment and makes up the most amazing stories! Thinking of making some peg dolls too - any tips @lucysmam?

Will get my usual walk up and down the hills. As usual, this evening me and DH will relax and watch TV.

Have a good weekend all.

FamingolosForDays · 11/04/2026 09:58

Morning @lucysmam and all- "saturday squad", I like that. 😁

Very pleased to hear you found a house @lucysmam, congratulations!

Off to Twickenham today for the womens six nations. It will be mine and DSs first time at the stadium, very excited (but slightly nervous, DS has extra needs so you never know which way it will go....). DC have been at their dads all week so I am really looking forward to seeing him.
When I get back my friend is coming to help me move some furniture into the car for his place, and then I am hoping I can convince him to do some man jobs mainly lifting because I am a weakling in return for dinner.
Tomorrow DC will be back, and will be helping DD put her room back together. Her new mattress hasn't arrived yet which I'm slightly cross about, I was hoping to have it all in and done for their return. Hey ho!

DilemmaDelilah · 11/04/2026 10:09

@KnitWitsAnonymous I'm not entirely sure what a 'bullet journal' is - but I'm assuming that it's one of those with headings to guide you what to write? I was given one of those together with lots of other things by my colleagues when I first started cancer treatment. It didn't suit me - probably because my mind wasn't all that organised - but I did buy myself a couple of notebooks which I could write my worries, my anger etc. A couple of years later, my DH bought me 4 very nice notebooks and some nice pens for my Christmas stocking and I have written something every night since January 1st. I have filled up one notebook already and am on my second. Some days I write pages, and some nights just half a page.

TheChosenTwo · 11/04/2026 10:31

I’ve been to Pilates, home and showered and now lying in bed relaxing 😂
dh and ds have gone to football, they’ll be gone all day.
im meeting my sisters this afternoon for a walk with my nephews which I’m excited about.

That's wonderful that you're able to use journaling to help you. What a lovely gift your DH gave you

A bullet journal is a dot grid notebook that you use to help you organise your life (something I badly need!) You start off with an index so that you can quickly find what you need, then you add a "Future Log" to list all forthcoming events, appointments etc

At the beginning of the month you list all the days on the left hand side of the page and add events, birthdays, etc and on the right hand side you keep a running to do list

Then, every day you write down everything you need to do with a bullet point (hence the name bullet journaling) and cross through the bullet point when it's done. At any point you can add your own thoughts, plans, lists etc and add them to the index. I write out all my family's and friends addresses and my financial plan in the back of the journal. It means you have everything you need in
one notebook

Some people embellish their journals with wonderfully artistic art work and layouts but I can't do that so I'm keeping mine very simple. There's loads of stuff on YouTube if you're interested ~ Ryder Carroll is the original "inventor" but loads of different people who have modified the idea in different ways

Lovely to hear from a fellow 'journalist'! Many thanks💐

I have a massive cold. Not brilliant. I feel so bad.I have done packed lunches for tomorrow and made dinner ready for the oven. Done laundry and swept floors. Now I'm going back to bed until 5pm. Game over.

gingercat02 · 11/04/2026 11:18

Morning all. Had a long lie this morning and just pootling about since I got up. I had a busy afternoon yesterday so I'm on top of the washing, food shop came yesterday too.
I'm volunteering late afternoon but we need to get started on DS student finance and accommodation.
DH and I want to book a trip to Iceland for the autumn and we have a week off early July so we need to plan some outings for that too.
Enjoy your Saturday

DilemmaDelilah · 11/04/2026 11:46

@KnitWitsAnonymous that sounds useful. At stressful times I actually have a whiteboard, otherwise I would definitely forget everything! I used it when I was trying to sort out everything after my mother died, and again after I started treatment to keep track of appointments and medication times etc. Life is more relaxed now, thank goodness, so I just use my phone's calendar feature. I do use it a LOT though!

Natsku · 11/04/2026 11:48

Not a lot, DS had surgery on Wednesday so he has to stay home and rest and I have to look after him and stop him jumping off furniture and things like that. I need to go to the shop at some point to get more food he will eat (tonsil surgery) and pick up DD's passport from the parcel locker. Otherwise its just staying at home not doing much. Might make a swiss roll.

DD is playing in her volleyball finals down in Helsinki today, so I'll periodically check on the scores.

OH is cleaning the cars.

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 11/04/2026 11:55

Driving to the incredible Isle of Mull for a nervous system reset.

HighburyHope · 11/04/2026 11:55

Morning! I am off to collect DS from tennis and take him to choose a new tennis racket for his forthcoming 14th birthday. He is nearly 6ft tall and has definitely outgrown his junior one. DD is head down revising for A levels, and DH is on hand to provide her with food, drink and moral support as needed. The cats have had their favourite fish for breakfast, but are still cross about the warm sunshine having gone AWOL.
