If you had an opportunity to go to the Moon, would you?

I would, without doubt.
Fascinating.
I’m not sure about going to the ISS for months and months, but a week around the Moon, totally. Even better if I could do a space walk.

I can’t get in a small elevator so it’s a no from me !!!

Notabarbie · 08/04/2026 21:04

I would not. I feel it would be a disappointment. Like Iceland but without the amenities and lava.

SpecialAgentMaggieBell · 08/04/2026 21:05

I’d want to, but I dont think I could. Been watching For All Mankind and there’s just far too many things that could go wrong. I’m also far too claustrophobic to not be able to just open a window.

DollopOfFun · 08/04/2026 21:07

We were talking about this at home the other day.

If I had a genuine, nailed on opportunity to go to the moon, I would 100% take it. I couldn't not. Even if it was very high risk, at this stage in my life, I would do it.

sapphicy · 08/04/2026 21:09

To do what? Seems like high risk low reward

ExperiencedTeacher · 08/04/2026 21:10

Not a chance. It holds no appeal and I’m usually one to say yes to every adventure!

menopausalmare · 08/04/2026 21:11

Travel sickness aside, I imagine space would feel claustrophobic despite it's vastness, so it's a no from me.

PersephoneParlormaid · 08/04/2026 21:12

No, I’d rather see the money spent on cures for illnesses.

ultracynic · 08/04/2026 21:13

No chance. Dark and cold. Ditto the bottom of the sea.

What if moon dust cured cancer and Alzheimer's but for some weird reason you are the only person in the world who can collect it?

NewLifter · 08/04/2026 21:15

God no. I think people who go are nuts. Much like anyone who ever got in those little submersible things to the bottom of the ocean!

Notmyreality · 08/04/2026 21:15

Depends when it is. I’d have to check my calendar and book time of work.

CallingOnTheMegaphone · 08/04/2026 21:17

No way! I'm afraid of heights and I am claustrophobic so it wouldn't be much fun!

I would only go in these circumstances but I'm going to be right grumpy all the way there and back and will moan about it forever to anyone who will listen.

Otherwise fuck no.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/04/2026 21:18

Nah x

You paint a nice picture. I have an image of you with a resting bitch face staring out of a porthole mouthing "fuck you" as you speed away from the earth.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads
Have you never watched a Sci-fi movie?
Nowt good ever happens in Space, nuff said 😉

I remember Total Recall 😱

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 08/04/2026 21:20

Hell no.
Either the claustrophobia or my crewmates, when they got fed up of my constant hyperventilating would kill me.

youalright · 08/04/2026 21:21

No i don't even like being on a plane let alone a rocket

user1471453601 · 08/04/2026 21:23

No way. We've managed to make a shit hole of one world, why would I want to perpetuate that?

Treadcarefully11 · 08/04/2026 21:23

I would love to set foot on the moon. It is one of the few achievable but virtually unobtainable things a human could ever do.

I wouldn’t want to do a year long stint on the ISS though as some end up doing. I think that would send me crazy. A few days trip with a stop off for a stroll on the moon would do me just fine.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 08/04/2026 21:25

No. The whole idea is just horrible to me.

You've seen me on delayed trains haven't you.

blabbermouth12 · 08/04/2026 21:31

Yes, 100% - it’s so fascinating to me!
I think almost daily about how sad it is that I won’t experience it, or live long enough for us to find other life or travel to lots of different planets.

Other potentially achievable but virtually unobtainable things:

  • storing tuppawear well
  • not losing the rubber seals from water bottles
  • not panicking that the electronic door of the train loo will open even though it says locked
