It depends on who I want to know I'm available or not. At the moment it's on for all. But that could change!

Off as I was getting too obsessed with looking at what other people were doing, mostly my ex during the divorce. It's a weight lifted now it's gone (and we use a parenting app so no communication on Whatsapp).

Is the on/off thing so other people can't see if you've read their message or so you don't get disturbed by their message? 🤷‍♀️

Mine is off for everyone and has been for as long as I can remember! I like to be able to go on WhatsApp and reply when I like 😂

It’s on for me. Doesn’t mean I’ll respond to someone any quicker if they know I’ve been online. I’ll still take says to get back to them.

WhatsApp lets you display the last time you opened the app. So it will say "last seen at 530am".

This is separate to the person opening your chat to read messages you've sent. So they can be online on the app, but not have read your messages so they won't "blue tick".

The day that someone pesters me about not replying to them when they can see I'm online is the day that chat gets muted 😅

Read receipts, last seen, status and location - all off and have been for years. No one needs to know any of the above and I don’t need to know about anyone else’s statuses.

Ive had the ‘last seen’ thing turned off. I did it years ago when a school mum I got to know started bombarding me with messages and voice messages asking why I hadn’t answered because I had a blue tick at x o clock and then later i had one tick/two ticks, grey/blue etc. Before this I had no idea what the ticks meant and noone I communicated with had chased me up on my replies and vice versa. I told her I was at work and may have glanced but not registered or thought to respond. I backed out of that friendship growing fairly pronto.

Everything is on. No one has ever complained I don’t respond quickly enough but if they did they’d get an appropriate response.
Usually I don’t care whether people respond to me quickly, except my DC’s who always seem to be unaware when there’s a time limited question. Such as I’m ordering a takeaway, what do you want?.
Most people have notifications on so they can read the message without it being read on WhatsApp so switching it off is pointless.
