Can anybody decipher this? It's on the back of an old painting and we have no idea what it says.

Could it be a style of shorthand- Pitman maybe?

Think I agree with Mrs (or first name) Taylor and '&' then child's name (maybe emma) and the directions to the framer seems right. Mother and baby picture?

I think the last line is framing instructions - oak and g* slip. Gilt might fit but they haven't dotted the i and crossed the t.

I think this is right, certainly for the first and third lines. Oak and gilt slip for the framing instructions.

I’m going to be a bit controversial here but I think the first word may be Insp short for Inspector. Could it be a picture of a police officer?

The last word is Slip - it has the dot over the i

The word between the two lines looks like evening to me!

The end looks like something and Gail Slip.
