I've just logged off the PC, put on my out of office until Tues.
Sat in the garden with a G&T enjoying the sunshine.
It's going to rain tomorrow and Sun, but Mon looks promising.
I might even go to Maundy mass later.

What about you?

I have!! I’m baking, ready for the family visit 😍

Natsku · 02/04/2026 15:12

Yup, finished work half an hour early today (because I had DD with me for the day and she was getting too tired to carry on - she is not used to getting up at 4:30!) at two o'clock, went to the shop to buy lamb and wine (unfortunately everyone else in town seemed to have the same idea so it was very busy) and now I am relaxing.

begonefoulclutter · 02/04/2026 15:14

Yes! Finished work at 2, and don't go back till next Wednesday.

DH reports that our local Morrisons supermarket (despite having had them permanently in stock ever since Boxing Day), had no hot cross buns at all on the shelves today - the day before Good Friday which is when we are supposed to eat the things. What a bunch of pillocks.

Do you bake an Easter cake ?
Years of making a simnel cake and no one eating it and I’ve now given up
Thinking of Trying a Tom Cruise cake for Easter this year but still with the traditional apostles on top

If anyone’s got any yummy traditional ideas not involving marzipan/ almonds would love to hear.

Baking is one of my go to relaxation hobbies

Haha I do love a crisp sandwich 😂

Both will get demolished…the Easter cake is a traditional Simnel which we’ll cut on Sunday. Both recipes are from Jane’s Patisserie 👌🏻 https://www.janespatisserie.com/2024/03/03/simnel-cake/

Simnel Cake! - Jane's Patisserie

A classic easter bake, Simnel Cake. Full of fruit and flavour, with marzipan on top and inside... delicious!

Having a beer whilst finishing up some work (at home)

maddiemookins16mum · 02/04/2026 17:29

I have too, it’s my favourite Bank Holiday weekend of the year.
Off to see friends in Oxford tomorrow until Monday morning, can’t wait.

Stirabout · 02/04/2026 13:56

Today, Maundy Thursday, is the end of Lent so
we’ll be having a big gathering and meal this evening

I wait until Holy Saturday.

Good Friday is a day of no meat as well.

I'm no longer a Catholic but do observe some traditions such as Lent.

Forty85 · 02/04/2026 17:34

I'm in Scotland and off the long weekend as are most of my friends and family excluding the ones who work in healthcare.

I've just logged off but my weekends hectic with various kids hobbies so not much downtime, one being an hour round trip for a hobby on Saturday will get home 2am Sunday. Training tonight till 9, tomoro we have barber appointments and then need to take them shopping for clothes and a joiner coming out then training till 10pm. Sunday I've got a pick up to do at 11pm in the next city. Monday il need to pack as we are then away next weekend. So just counting down to that.

zantez · 02/04/2026 17:34

Every day's a holiday for me now I'm retired and enjoying a 7 day weekend 😊

I well remember that lovely feeling when I escaped from work for a long weekend, Easter, Christmas and so on. The shoulders went right down!

Enjoy your well deserved breaks folks.

FlexiSadie · 02/04/2026 17:35

No. I'm on (unpaid) 12hr ward shifts both tomorrow and Saturday. I'm not religious though, so it makes no odds to me. I'm mainly disgruntled because I want to be doing stuff in the garden.

Why unpaid?

TheChosenTwo · 02/04/2026 17:40

I got home about an hour ago after a manic day where everyone seemed to get confused between 2 additional days off and 2 fucking years - people were going absolutely batshit firing emails!!
Nice few days off to relax, dc2 is coming home from uni for a few days, dh and dc3 have a few plans for Friday and Monday, I’ve got a couple of things to look forward to but mostly I’m just looking forward to a few days off.

JacknDiane · 02/04/2026 17:41

Nope. Retail. Working all weekend.

Tell your kids to never go into Retail.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 02/04/2026 17:45

Still Lent so off work but still observing restrictions.

Tomorrow I will bake Smarties cookies and fairy cakes. I am a big marzipan fan but no one else is, so.....

My parents, grandparents etc gave up meat for Lent. Catholic but tbh I have no idea if that’s a them thing or a Catholic thing. I’m veggie so it’s not something I have to give up these days

Our celebrations are Thursday and Sunday
On Saturday we have a lovely midnight service at a local church served by Carmelite friars
and we’ll have tea and hot cross buns in the early hours but nothing else really.

I do like Easter. Less hype and expectation

GreenDogDot · 02/04/2026 17:53

I hadn’t got round to doing anything Easter related and had decided that I didn’t have the energy but now I’m sitting in the garden with a glass of wine I’m thinking that maybe I’ve still got time to dig out the box of Easter decorations!

Only on leave until Tuesday as I’ve used holiday later in the month for my birthday, kicking myself for not booking the 10 days now!!

ForPinkCrab · 02/04/2026 17:56

We have just sold our house , and although likely to be a while until we actually move as we are in a chain my husband has decided to take today off work and clear out the loft with me helping (no I didn’t volunteer) …..so today we have been clearing junk accumulated over the 30 years of living here, sorted a lot of it into rubbish, charity and keeping piles and I’ve just now collapsed on the sofa . Tomorrow will be more sorting through and Saturday the skip runs ….. oh and Sunday apparently we can have a rest and maybe go out for Lunch …..I’m thinking I’m gonna be too knackered!

FlexiSadie · 02/04/2026 17:57

I'm a student nurse.

Neena86 · 02/04/2026 18:07

I'm working all weekend. I work in retail and after Christmas it's our busiest time of the year. But I break up on Monday at 5pm for 10 days so that's going to get me through. You can bet someone will be in at 10pm Saturday night looking for a specific Easter egg and getting pissed off when it's sold out. It's not like the eggs have been available since boxing day or anything 😆

330ml · 02/04/2026 18:12

I started mine on Tuesday.

Agamede · 02/04/2026 18:15

We are off to Dorset tomorrow with 4 teens. Roofbox is laden, non perishable groceries are in the boot and perishables (including a big joint of lamb from our farm shop) is ready to go in tomorrow morning.
Can’t wait to get away. I’ve had the past two weeks off work but with 4 teens revising for exams it’s been a never ending round of snacks, ‘test me’ and luring DS14 to revise with a series of bribes and threats.
We are all taking Easter weekend off!
