I've just had a Lidl fish pie

I'm not really one for ready meals and if I was going to have a lazy treat, I probably wouldn't get it from Lidl, but Lidl offered me a free one in their Lidl Plus app. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth I chose their Deluxe Fish Pie.

It was flippin' lovely, a good sized portion, lots of juicy chunks of fish, tasty sauce, crunchy potato, just over 400 calories and I can't see any nasties in the ingredients list, although probably too much salt.

£3.50 at full price.

Is it free in exchange for a positive online review?

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 31/03/2026 17:24

Holy advert.

Try harder Lidl marketing OP

Scruffysquirrels · 31/03/2026 17:26

I think it would be better if it was professionally done - otherwise I want my fee!

No, I was just genuinely pleasantly surprised and I do love the freebies in their app.

Ha ha, I had one the other day( full price) when I was charging between appointments.
It was quite nice to be fair, I'd definitely buy it again if I wanted no fannying around meal.

TulipsDaffsAndSunshine · 31/03/2026 17:28

Love fish pie.

ShakyBake · 31/03/2026 17:29

Smells fishy to me

Pollpoll · 31/03/2026 17:33

If I'm going to buy a ready meal I go for the premium range and Lidls are pretty good. The lasagne or the meatballs are as good as M&S imo. DH is a big fan of fish pie but not the Lidl ones.

MotherofPufflings · 31/03/2026 17:34

The coop irresistible fish pie is absolutely delicious - chunks of cod, prawn and salmon, some spinach and a really good crunchy topping. I pretty much exclusively eat ready meals as we've had no kitchen since last October and this is the best fish pie I've had.

have tried (a few x!) Lidl’s Salmon Wellington with Creamy Prawn & White Wine Sauce. It’s a frozen 1 so great to keep for emergencies, cooked from frozen.
Theres also a version with dill sauce, both have a thick chunky peice of salmon for less than £5

New branch in N London?

Skybluepinky · 31/03/2026 17:45

If you are being paid, it’s wasted on me as now all I can think of is how your house must stink of fish pie.

Yeah i'm not in london either!

As long as you set your store for each new branch that opens, you'll get £5 off and a free lidl ready meal for each one 😉

You have to go to that store to get it though, which seems a bit extreme.

Just popping on to recommend the Aldi Cheeseburger pies, chicken balti pies and their Bhaji burgers. I bloody love Aldi and lidl (( love the Lidl bakery and their banana icecream I make a 60 mile round trip with a cool bag for ! ))

What do you expect it to smell like ? Given she's just heated a fish pie ........lasagne maybe ? 🥱

Oh - theres been like 4 new stores in my location, really no biggie

purplecorkheart · 31/03/2026 18:07

Must see if my local store has it. I used to get a nice one in aldi but they do not appear to stock it anymore. Unfortunately Ireland does nor seem to get all the ranges that the uk seem to.

MissFLemon · 31/03/2026 18:22

One of my first ever jobs was in a food factory, breaking up fish and putting it in fish pies or putting meatballs in sauce or dumplings on stew. The smell in the factory put me off ready meals for life!

Love the frozen salmon wellington!

WhoPutThatThere · 31/03/2026 18:26

Is it better than Sainsbury's TTD? This is my benchmark for a good supermarket fish pie (better than M&S and Charlie Bighams IMO)

Some people do like fish! I do.

Shinyhappyapple · 31/03/2026 18:28

I prefer the Lidl one to the Charlie Bighams, which is actually my least favourite of various deluxe range fish pies. The CB one is too salty .

begonefoulclutter · 31/03/2026 18:44

Lidl ready meals are good. Far better than say, Morrisons, where the prices have rocketed in price whilst the quality has plummeted.
