I've just had a Lidl fish pie

I'm not really one for ready meals and if I was going to have a lazy treat, I probably wouldn't get it from Lidl, but Lidl offered me a free one in their Lidl Plus app. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth I chose their Deluxe Fish Pie.

It was flippin' lovely, a good sized portion, lots of juicy chunks of fish, tasty sauce, crunchy potato, just over 400 calories and I can't see any nasties in the ingredients list, although probably too much salt.

£3.50 at full price.

The specially selected Fish pie from Aldi beats lidls and Charlie Bighams imo

Lidls cod in cheese sauce, with spinach, topped with breadcrumbs is very good too

I've never been offered anything like that in my app. I get a free bakery treat most months and a few other things worth about a quid. I like them but I want a free fish pie now

We had two small Lidls in reach but both closed down. Never went.

Just popping on to recommend the Aldi Cheeseburger pies, chicken balti pies and their Bhaji burgers. I bloody love Aldi and lidl (( love the Lidl bakery and their banana icecream I make a 60 mile round trip with a cool bag for ! ))

Don't think I've seen banana ice cream in Lidl?!

Anotherrainydaynosurprise · 31/03/2026 19:19

I treated myself to M&S frozen fish pie and it was basically cheesy mash potato with a scattering of fish. I need to go to Aldi by the sounds of it

I prefer the Lidl one to the Charlie Bighams, which is actually my least favourite of various deluxe range fish pies. The CB one is too salty .

All CB's meals are too salty, I can't eat any of them.

I do get something free most weeks but not ready meals. I shop there every week but only for top up fruit and veg and bread usually.

It's a summer thing and I can confirm they have it in again this year. Bloody lovely it is too !

have you tried aldis posh one...they are delicious

BillieWiper · 31/03/2026 21:15

Yay! I've not tried any of the Lidl ready meals. But I find most fish pie to be mediocre. Bigham is the best I've had but it's still not fantastic. And it's really expensive. I must give the lidl a try.
