Everything at 1.5 x speed

SoSadSoSadSoSad · 27/03/2026 20:43

Does anyone else listen to podcasts / radio catch and TV at 1.5 x speed or more?

I can’t bear to watch at normal speed anymore. Will only watch on Netflix because it has that option. Disney+ doesn’t.

It all seems so slow and laborious at normal speed.

I’ve never done this, didnt realise anyone did it

NearlyToothlessDragon · 27/03/2026 20:45

Yes for podcasts and YouTube videos. Not thought of it for Netflix. Will have to try.

LeedsZebra90 · 27/03/2026 20:48

I do for some podcast, never for TV and not for things I listen to to relax.

AnotherEmilee · 27/03/2026 20:52

I do for you tube and audio books - I don't watch much TV.
I found myself looking for a way to speed up a webinar I was attending earlier this week 😂normal taking speed seems so slow to me now.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 27/03/2026 20:55

Yes for podcasts. Now if I accidentally listen at normal speed they all sound weirdly slow and drunk.

I don’t do it for tv/films.

ProudAmberTurtle · 27/03/2026 20:57

I'd feel like I'm messing with my brain doing that. I wonder if there's a link between doing this and ADHD?

Garman · 27/03/2026 20:58

God no, I listen to podcasts at 0.9 speed to make them enjoyable and relaxing!

MerryGuide · 27/03/2026 20:59

Didn't know you could do that with Netflix! Always for podcasts and audiobooks, voice notes

SwedishEdith · 27/03/2026 21:00

I wish you could do this for Teams meetings.

MarchUsername · 27/03/2026 21:03

Audiobooks and tiktoks yes. Didn’t even know I could do it for Netflix, what a game changer

Only online training courses at work!

This. Life is always such a rush I think this would seriously add to my levels of overstimulation at times! Not healthy for us.

What did you think the speed up button was for?

I've done it since the days of video tapes but didn't know you could do it on netflix either

Didn’t no there was a speed up button. It’s not the same as fast forwarding.

swifttara · 27/03/2026 21:16

Wow I’ve only ever tapped that button by accident and swiftly put it back. Instinctively this does not sound good for you.

FussyFancyDragon · 27/03/2026 21:20

I listen to audiobooks with the speed higher. I also watch all IG/FB etc videos at double speed. I actually find myself clicking double speed to watch, and then pausing the video to read the text, when I could play it at normal speed and read it without having to pause a I’m not sure why I do this!

BogRollBOGOF · 27/03/2026 21:33

How to survive mandatory training videos without dying of boredom or being totally patronised to death Grin

GreenSmithing · 27/03/2026 21:35

Yes for mandatory training videos. I think they are recorded extra slow.

BogRollBOGOF · 27/03/2026 21:36

It's interesting how fast we can watch and still process the majority of it.

I find faster easier than too slow where my brain goes off for a metaphorical trip through a wardrobe out of boredom in the little gaps.

I do it with all my podcasts
2x is too much but 1.2 barely worth bothering

Aprilshowers13 · 27/03/2026 21:38

I listen to friends.vn at 1.5 sounds incredibly slow

OooPourUsACupLove · 27/03/2026 21:39

Yes to anything factual/educational where I just need the info. Work Teams recordings I watch at 1.8x speed, even 2x for slower talkers.

Not for anything I'm watching or listening to for entertainment though.

fartoomuchtoblerone · 27/03/2026 21:39

Nah, life is too already too fast for me to want to be entertained in a hurry

GardeningMummy · 27/03/2026 21:50

Why on earth would you do that, are you in a rush?!

HotSoupBowl · 27/03/2026 21:52

I’ve done it with tutorials and often with TikTik too. I’m about to lose interest otherwise.
