Jeans, quite fitted at the top but loose and baggy at the bottom

And soft material... not the tough denim. Anyone recommend any jeans like this?
Not flared - not loose enough at the bottom
Not boyfriend jeans - too baggy at the top

Would like to know the answer to this too..

Isn't this bootcut? 🤔 From hazy 90s (80s?!) memories 🤪

Flickitspinittwistitbopit · 25/03/2026 11:09

Softer material I've found comes from a mix of of elastane in with the cotton, and buying cheaper (& so, thinner) 🤷‍♀️

Bootcut isn't baggy enough at the bottom

And/or from John Lewis are my favourite wide legs. High waisted so a lovely fit and really really soft. Me and Em are also lovely

Overtheatlantic · 25/03/2026 12:06

I thought this is what you can find at Halara?

PonderingChocolate · 25/03/2026 12:07

These are amazing, and sound like what you describe: https://www.next.co.uk/style/sv057692/au1971

Feels like wearing joggers, fitted enough around the bum and tops of thighs to feel like there's some shape, but enough width around the bottom of the leg to feel like wide leg.

JudgementalCat · 25/03/2026 12:09

What about these from next? They're very comfortable.

Marine jeans from Zara.

Second these, I live in them

Drivingmissrangey · 25/03/2026 12:14

Don’t you want proper flare rather than bootcut? I just got the Reiss patch pocket flares. Super soft. High waist and fitted round the hips.

minipie · 25/03/2026 12:14

Dammit, I’m not sure Zara do the Marine jeans any more, except for kids.

they look like this is that what you had in mind?

I'm buying these high street jeans in every colour - and so should you

The Zara Marine jeans are super flattering and very affordable

The Maeve jeans from Anthropologie are similar to the Marine but more pricey. They do come in loads of different denims/other fabrics and different lengths tho

The Uniqlo drapey flares are like this, although beware the sizes are really generous and mine seem to have stretched so are now too big… 🙄

Do these look like denim? Or more like joggers masquerading as denim?

The blue ones look denim enough that I won't wear my denim jacket with them for fear of double denim-ing. The black ones look a little less denim and a little more like trousers. Not like joggers though.

I wear them to work so definitely not jogger like
they're just very comfortable trousers

mcmuffin22 · 25/03/2026 14:16

The XL wide leg Levis are like this - you just need to try on a few different sizes. And they are voluminous at the bottom but I love them.

Happyhappyday · 27/03/2026 20:35

Mother barrel jeans. I have several pairs and they are as you describe!

Chickoletta · 27/03/2026 20:37

Halara!

StillSmallVoice · 27/03/2026 20:42

Marks and Spencer are amazing for jeans in any permutation you can think of.

hexsnidgett · 27/03/2026 20:46

fatface
Not strictly jeans, but nice light denim material. Not tapered at all despite the description. Very comfy.

I tried these on and they were quite good but they had a weird sort of pouch of material around the groin :(

ETA - I wouldn’t described them as jeans.
