He's done and said so many awful things - but this is extreme even for him

And the whole world can see it

How can he be allowed to continue as President?

That question was asked about 7 years ago.

cardibach · 05/04/2026 16:39

Re:Trump - he’s supposed to be a Christian isn’t he? Yet licks the holiest day in the Christian calendar for that bile?
Re: cat walking - it is a bit of a thing, though I’m pretty sure Perdy wouldn’t go for it. She had another standoff with next door cat today through the catio netting.
Happy Easter all! I’ve had miniCardi for Easter brunch (I got very fancy with whipped feta and smashed avocado etc) and now I have a peaceful evening of snacks and chocolate ahead.

SerendipityJane · 05/04/2026 16:44

It's so tricky with Christians. A lot get really narky when you point out you judge on deeds not words. In fact by their own book, a true Xtian would not be offended if their faith were doubted.

Incidentally - and it goes to shit communications everywhere - was anyone else not aware that the UK was a world leader in Archimedian screw power ?

BestIsWest · 05/04/2026 18:24

I didn’t know that but we have one in our local woods and it provides enough electricity to power the visitor centre and sell some back to the National Grid, Amazing things.

As an intermission, who knew cat walking was "a thing" ?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn8j3y2mr91o

I can think of one of mine who might put up with it, but he would contrive to slip the harness and escape, and we're not doing that. (It's the orange one)

@SerendipityJane Cragside, beautiful property in Northumberland has an Archimedes screw.
Apparently the first place in the world to be lit by hydroelectricty.

MsJinks · 05/04/2026 19:43

@SerendipityJane- I recently saw a cat being walked into a hotel where I was at an event - the cat walker had luggage so I guess was staying but I was surprised cats were allowed. It was a Bengal so maybe they’re better on leads (edited to add ‘and better in hotels too) than the moggy variety.

I’ve seen other cats being walked into a the city though - I believe you train them very young. Doesn’t seem to let them cat properly though imo.

Indoor cats could benefit and cat better for it maybe?

My daughter and her partner walk their cat with reins. However he's an escape artist home cat and likely to roam in Whitechapel. He's gorgeous 🥰

My cats cat perfectly well. The orange one isn't equipped for British roads if he does escape, and one of my other ones is a wobbly, hence they are indoor cats. I do however have a massive catio (20 by 8 by 8).

My cat is also an indoor cat due to being a bit stupid and having been in a crate at a dodgy breeder in her formative years. We also have a catio. She seems perfectly catty but I wonder if she’d like to be outside, even if it meant on a lead.

MaybeNotBob · 05/04/2026 21:18

Some hotels do take cats. We often take ours with us. Novotels in particular usually take them. It costs £10 per cat extra per night.

My orange one tried to escape regularly. And manages it occasionally. He gets about 6 feet and then stands there, absolutely terrified of everything so I can catch him and bring him back in.

All he really wants is to go for the pigeons that inhabit the back of our garden. He wouldn't be able to eat one, because he has no teeth.

He doesn't actually know that he has no teeth - every now and then he tries to bully my wobbly one by biting bim. Wobbly one just sits there and looks bemused.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/04/2026 21:47

Ours are all outdoor cats.
Never taken a cat to a hotel, but we used to take a previous generation of our cats on holiday with us to Malvern. It was a isolated house we stayed in a few times and we let them outside there. They always seemed to enjoy the break, and bloody loved climbing the trees there.

cardibach · 05/04/2026 21:51

All my orevious cats have been outdoors ones. Perdy and her deceased ‘sister’ are very much exceptions due to their background.

MsJinks · 06/04/2026 07:19

I didn’t realise cats could go to hotels - but it’s nice they can and not be left.

Only time I’ve taken any of my cats anywhere different, as in a daughters’ home whilst I’m away, feral type escaped (from my daughter’s ill thought out attempt at a lead!) and the fat indoor cat was quite sad and needed to hide.

I guess I thought though that a main issue for the hotels maybe the potential level of destructive with their claws and love of scratching, plus the indoor littering may be an issue.

My indoor cat couldn’t cat with or without walking on a lead bless him - he’d spent a good portion of his life in a kennel on a back yard though. He did like laying in the sun sometimes, but the fence on the small garden served to make it safe as he couldn’t get up fences, and watched other cats jump it with bemusement.
