I'm trying to walk more but can get a bit bored listening to music - what podcasts do people like? I've got Spotify premium and bbc sounds, not sure if bbc does podcasts. Looking for funny or interesting kind of things. Nothing too heavy. Thank you!

For history/historical true crime, I like The Rest is History, After Dark: Myths, Misdeeds and the Paranormal, Lucy Worsley's Ladykillers, A Family History of, A Short History of...,

Pure spookiness: Uncanny, The Battersea Poltergeist

Politics: The Rest is Politics, Americast

Also, Shedunnit, about the Golden Age of detective novels!

Stompcast. - goes for a walk with somome and speaks about their expertise. Always to do with how we function emotionally as humans.

Beautiful anonymous- 1 hour with 1 anon caller who talks about their life.

Crime weekly. Deep dives. Right now dealing with Elizabeth Smart.

Charlotte Dobre. Petty point of view. Gossip and fun.

Off menu. Famous people speak of their dream restaurant menu.

Recently started listening to Prime Crime. Solved murders.

GardeningMummy · 24/03/2026 21:39

I used to like Charlotte Dobre but those stupid sound effects she’s started using put me right off. A similar one you might like is Joce Bedard, she’s lovely and reacts to Reddit stories (a bit more seriously but still lighthearted)

CoodleMoodle · 24/03/2026 21:42

Mine are all comedy pods:
Parenting Hell
Older & Wider
Wolf & Owl
Off Menu
Help I Sexted My Boss
Life's a Beach
Where There's a Will There's Wake

I also love the Taskmaster podcast but you have to watch the show to get it, obviously!

BlueEyedBogWitch · 24/03/2026 21:47

Strangers on a Bench. Tom Rosenthal just sits down next to a stranger on a bench, and they talk. Ordinary people have amazing stories.

I’m loving Carry On Up The Podcast. Susan Calman and Mike Muncer discuss each Carry On film in turn. Very funny and nostalgic.

Bill Nighy’s Ill Advised. Bill gives advice, and recommends music. It’s everything you’d want a Bill Nighy podcast to be.

Scarred For Life. A celebrity comes on and talks about spooky stuff, and the things that scared them as kids. Great for 70s and 80s nostalgia.

Talk 90s To Me with Miranda Sawyer.

freshstartdreamer · 24/03/2026 21:49

Chatabix - Joe Wilkinson and David Earl
Parenting Hell
The Romesh Ranganathan Show
Dig It - Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball
Wolf and Owl

GardeningMummy · 24/03/2026 21:49

Other good ones: The Missing (about missing people cases, obviously)
Bad People Lighthearted & amusing crime stories
Strange but true crime Also self explanatory
Carrie Jade does not exist True story docu-series about a woman recently convicted of the most elaborate and bizarre scams that even involves TikTok!
The Witch Farm Re-enactment of a true story about a couple who buy a house in rural wales, only to discover it’s very, very haunted….
Crime Next Door Obscure crime stories.

My Therapist Ghosted Me

Florin · 24/03/2026 21:56

I love Luanna I listen to it when running and must look like a loon as often laughing like mad as I run.

CompanyOfThieves · 24/03/2026 22:05

If you want funny, then My Dad wrote a Porno is the funniest thing ever.

Alice Levine and two of her male uni mates James and Jamie got together to make this, as Jamie's dad had attempted to write an erotic novel. They critique it, chapter by chapter. The book is appallingly bad and much laughter ensues

I actually had to stop listening to it while walking as I was laughing so much.

Charlotte ia 100% for non brain engagement I like a bit of that but not a lot.

Acutissima · 24/03/2026 22:44

Off Menu with James Acaster and Ed Gamble is my absolute favourite.

Life's a Beach with Alan Carr.

Russell Howard's five best things or a similar title, can't recall.

Kickinthenostalgia · 24/03/2026 22:48

The rest is football daly brightness

did do drama queens but that’s finished and also
he said, Ella dijo but that’s on break right now

aintallbutterfliesandrainbows · 24/03/2026 22:48

Shagged. Married. Annoyed.

HannahDefoesSpringFling · 24/03/2026 22:51

Comfort Eating by Grace Dent. Each episode is an interview with a famous person about what they eat when nobody is about.

It's funny, revealing and nostalgic, exploring what people ate as a child.

deltapanda · 24/03/2026 22:55

Alan Carr (does he ever stop!) also does a funny podcast about wine with his friend Lee Peart and I really enjoy that - Bottoms Up.

Love The Rest is Entertainment.
