Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in not my morning spot yet. The cats have had breakfast & gone back to bed, and dd2's still sock on.

I have the washer on for the first of many loads this weekend - the basket's overflowing for some reason! And am off up to get dressed shortly.

The plan for the day is to crack on here with organising and unpacking. The in the way fridge freezer is being collected at some point (it's apparently been sold on Marketplace). If it's not, then I shall become a pain in the agent's backside on Monday - I'm already not thrilled with paying my rent to store someone else's unwanted white goods I repeatedly told them I did not want or need. Not keen on "at some point" being an acceptable timeframe either 🤔.

Hopefully by the end of today, I'll also have measured for a sofa!!

Tea will be pork loin steaks with salad and maybe wedges, accompanied by a glass of wine for me 🍷. Followed by an hour's crochet to finish a baby blanket, and then an early ish night 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning! Lovely day here thank god! I went for a run, felt much better for it - home doom scrolling now after having breakfast and a coffee. OH and eldest are outside cleaning the car so I really should move. Going to probably do a bit of cleaning, get some bits up on vinted, strip the beds - nothing exciting. Then meeting a friend later with her husband and children, likely a few wines whilst our kids play in the garden. I would love to tidy up the garden though - looking a bit neglected!

Good morning all,

We were up bright and early this morning, had a piece of toast and a coffee then I went on my daily walk up the hills before it gets too warm. I walked part of the way with a lovely neighbour from the Village and her dog. She's in her late 70's and practically runs up the hills whilst chatting - she had to wait for me to catch up. She's an amazing woman.

I'm going to make a big pot of vegetable soup in a bit - I want to use up the veg in the fridge before our weekly shop comes later. We'll have a bowl for lunch with a homemade cheese scone then I'll freeze the rest.

I'm going to sit in the garden this afternoon and finish a blanket I'm knitting for another DGC due in May.

Not much else planned really. Nice food for dinner and a bit of TV I think.

Have a good weekend all.

Good Morning Lucysmam and All

Had a lie in this morning which was much needed after a busy week.

Going to pop into town this afternoon with DD as she needs to get her phone fixed and choose some glasses frames. I want to choose a new book too so we’ll spend some time in a bookshop and probably grab a coffee out somewhere.

Beautiful day here in the SE - Spring has sprung now!

Bit of a nothing day for us.

DP started renovating the living room floor on Monday (main job being take up carpets, underlay and plywood (?) so he can bring up the floorboards underneath). We're on day 6 and it's an absolute mess. We were let down by the rubbish collection due on Thursday and can't get anything until next week. So we're debating hiring a van for a tip run? So we have 13 rubble sacks and 10 pieces of rolled up carpet laying about.

The house, the kids and the cats are all covered in a thin layer of dust and there is stuff everywhere as of course the room we're working on was full of furniture!!

So far though the floorboards seem okay and half the room has been filled and sanded.

On top of this DC3 got sent home before lunch on Wednesday with an earache and GP diagnosed infection/ gave her AB on Thursday so we have a very grumpy and dusty "baby". I've cancelled swimming for us all this week.

Ive had a sore throat myself for 5 days now, it gets better with paracetamol but it's quite hurty so I think I need to see someone if no improvement by Monday? I'm on a medication that suppresses my immune system but there doesn't seem to be any solid advice about sore throats?

DC2 new bike arrived amid this chaos so she is keen to get out on it. I may take her out for a bit after lunch.

Dinner will be some kind of takeaway as I'm so over cooking.

We'll probably go for Turkish as well all like that.

Early night as we are all shattered. My 11yo curled up and went to sleep on my lap at 9pm last night as she was so tired.

As always, this is my favourite thread.

I got a lovely lie in this morning, DH got up with the 5 year old. Then I did CrossFit and some work while DH took the kids to play tennis. Now just sat in a sunny spot with a coffee and getting up the energy to put on a load of washing before I take the kids to the school Easter egg hunt.

Thank goodness for the beautiful sun, life feels so much easier in this weather.

Afternoon all! I was up at 5.30 and out walking the dogs at 6.30, it’s show day today!! I volunteer at a local youth theatre group and I’ve been rehearsing since 8.30.

DD is in 2 shows today. She’s Elphaba in one groups production of Wicked, then she’s haring it over here to play Fagin in our production of Oliver. She’s going to be knackered!

After the show we’re treating ourselves to tea in the pub. I’m going to have gallons of wine.

EEHHH · 21/03/2026 13:41

Got out of bed at 10am coffee 10 fags.
Showered and ready by 11am.
I have no chores or work to do as I did it all yesterday.
But I am waiting for my temu parcel to arrive today.

Giggorata · 21/03/2026 13:50

Good day lucysmam and all.
A lovely day and we've just had a wood delivery, which DH is transferring to the shed, all dry!
I've been bagging up the small bits, which go to my friend for her little stove.

There's a big tractor rally thing today, where they go round a few local pubs and end up with a hog roast in our village pub. I rather enjoyed it last year, when they all went past, lights blinking, quite the spectacle. Several friends are involved, so DH will probably go when I'm with the coven tonight.

I'm hoping that the Aurora will be visible again this evening.

Good afternoon @lucysmam & the Saturday crew. Haven’t read the thread yet but hope everyone’s well & happy & enjoying this lovely sunshine ☀️ ☀️☀️ I’m staying with my folks again which is lovely but missing DH, DD17 & the bunnies 🐰 🐰🐰🐰 And my own bed. We’ve just been to look at a room in a lovely care home & all being well, DM will be moving in at the end of the week. Very emotional & so hard for DF particularly. He’s been an absolute star looking after my Mum.
Just realised that I’ve only had a couple of biccies so far today so need to get some lunch. Quite fancy a cheese & pickle sarnie. Certainly been drinking lots of tea whilst I’ve been here. Then I’ll walk down to the village shop for Dad’s paper. I’m happily married but my goodness the chap who’s sometimes behind the counter makes me go all unnecessary! 🤣 Think I’ll have paella for tea (cook from frozen meal in a bag) & we’ll watch BGT. My folks usually eat quite a bit earlier than me.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 21/03/2026 14:15

Going to clear all the rubbish out of my car - it’s terrible!!

zingally · 21/03/2026 14:33

Up early to hit the supermarkets. Stopped off for petrol. 144p per litre, whereas prior to this Iran issue, it was 128p and the cheapest in town.
Went to Asda first for a few bits, then to Waitrose. I also popped into Greggs to claim a free hot drink via my energy provider.

Took it home to drink, unpacked the shopping and straight out again to the local "fancy" garden centre for some weedkiller. It's the stuff that comes with a battery powered sprayer. It took me a while to get it set up, and a bit of trial and error to get it functioning, but then took it on a tour of my driveway. Hopefully it does the job. If the weather is still decent tomorrow, I'll go and give everything a second dose I think.

Then put a wash on, and pegged it out on the line. It's one of my favourite things, seeing clothes on the line. Then had a happy time having a poke around the garden, looking in the pots I abandoned last year. To my surprise, last years lilies are sprouting up and looking healthy! I put them in last spring, but they weren't a massive success. Perhaps they'll do better this year.

The dishwasher is on, I've just had a coffee, and debating settling down on the settee for a snooze!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 21/03/2026 15:39

Afternoon @lucysmam and everyone else. I had a lovely morning, was up early, enjoyed an iced latte on the sofa then cleaned the kitchen before taking in the Tesco delivery. Woke DD up for work, then headed out to the local country park for their spring equinox wellbeing day. Did an hour of yoga out in the sunshine, then walked around the lakes and park for an hour, then did a breathwork and meditation session. It was absolutely lovely, and all free! I feel like I’ve shaken off the winter now and am ready to embrace the spring.

Back home now, feeling very zen. Going to do a little Pilates session in a bit then will have a quick tidy up before relaxing. DD will be home from work around 9pm, we’re having homemade fish and chips with peas and tartare sauce (not homemade)! for dinner.

Taytocrisps · 21/03/2026 18:50

Back for a quick update. I mowed the lawn, but nearly had a disaster with the petrol container I use to fill the petrol mower. I filled it up at the local petrol station, but when I lifted it up to put it in my car, I realized the container was leaking slightly from underneath. Luckily I keep some shopping bags in the car, so I put the can into a plastic shopping bag. I drove home quickly, took the petrol can out and then drove back down to the hardware shop to buy a new petrol can. Had to transfer the petrol from the old can into the new one.

Anyway, I finally mowed the lawn and it looks a million times better, even though it's quite mossy from all the rain. I also lightly pruned a shrub which I probably should have pruned in the autumn. Oh well, better late than never. It was so warm I had to take off my cardigan - in March! I had a good catch up with two of my neighbours. It's funny how the nice weather brings everyone outside. Like @MummyInTheNecropolis I feel like winter is finally over. My back's aching a bit now from all the exertion. I'll be having a late dinner, but I'm glad I got my jobs done. Something tells me I'll be nodding off at the sofa by 9 p.m.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 21/03/2026 21:22

Oops forgot to clear out my car.

ginandheels · 21/03/2026 22:55

Hello @lucysmam and everyone. Love this thread, love hearing what you are all doing. The sun was shining today so we had bacon sandwiches in the garden for brunch and a walk with friends this afternoon. Dinner at a local restaurant this evening, then home for a hot bath. Now tucked up in bed listening to Fearne reminisce about the 90s. A good day.

Yesterday took an unexpected turn as we found out from one of DD’s friends that our local hospital is offering Men B vaccines so I zoomed DD over there and got it done. Felt very grateful.
DH is just about to take DS2 to hopefully get his vaccination but as he’s usually away at Uni, he may not get it 🤞🏻
