Just found out. Legendary woman journalist and Woman's Hour presenter with a hell of a career and an unmistakable voice on the radio.

Consummate broadcaster with a lovely warm voice. Woman’s Hour has never been anything like as good since she left.

echt · 20/03/2026 20:17

This is sad. An excellent broadcaster and speaker on behalf of women. The voice of Woman's Hour for me.

Not so old, either, at least from where I'm standing in my early 70s.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 20/03/2026 20:18

She was great. Sad news.

WileyWinifred · 20/03/2026 23:10

RIP Jenni, an absolute legend in broadcasting , loved her on ‘Woman’s Hour’. Thinking of her and her family xo

Giraffehaver · 20/03/2026 23:12

Someone I really looked up to in my career and as a woman. RIP lovely lady

YourAmplePlumPoster · 20/03/2026 23:12

RIP. Wonderful woman.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 20/03/2026 23:13

Don't know why this has so few posts for a woman who stood up for us.

NeartoNewquay · 20/03/2026 23:14

Very sad - she was the voice of Woman's Hour to me. Don't listen to it anymore on principle since she was hounded out for stating simple truths. RIP Jenni ❤️

lifeturnsonadime · 20/03/2026 23:16

She was so badly betrayed by the BBC for standing up for women. RIP Jenni Murray and THANK YOU Flowers

Maybe because there are a few other threads.
Jenni Murray RIP

A strong independent woman bound to be hounded out by BBC "newspeak." She obviously couldn't stand it anymore.

mondaytosunday · 20/03/2026 23:18

She was great, best presenter of Woman’s Hour.

SpareMe · 20/03/2026 23:21

Such sad news. Loved Jenni.

She was a remarkable woman. I loved listening to her interviews.

Lifesd · 20/03/2026 23:27

Agree remarkable woman. RIP Jenni.

GU24Mum · 20/03/2026 23:53

She joined Woman’s Hour just as I went to university so I listened to her through all my adult years til she sadly left the programme. I’ve just listened to a clip of her - such a warm and unforgettable voice and a great advocate for women’s issues. Very sad to hear the news.

Newmeagain · 21/03/2026 00:53

oh, I am so sad to hear that. I used to love listening to women’s hour when she was on. I found listening to her so comforting during some very difficult times.

viques · 21/03/2026 01:18

So sad to hear this. A remarkable woman and journalist. Much missed. RIP Jenni.

Treeper22 · 21/03/2026 01:42

No! I said only yesterday that women's hour was never the same once she left (I grew up listening to it). RIP 🌼 🌸 🌻

StarlightLady · 21/03/2026 06:52

She brought many words of wisdom to a lot of us. Certainly ahead of her time. RIP.
