DP stored petrol in conditioner bottle and it went in wash

I'm so angry with my DP.
I've just put a load of my washing in the washing machine, added washing gel and spotted the washing conditioner bottle. Grabbed it and started pouring the conditioner into the machine before instantly realising it wasn't conditioner as it was thin brown foul smelling liquid. I think probably around 3 tablespoons went in. Stopped immediately and took the bottle inside and said to my partner "what's wrong with this?" and my partner smelt it and started raising his voice saying it was petrol and oil mixed and he'd used the empty container to pour it into and it was my fault because he'd asked me out shopping yesterday if we had any fabric conditioner so my fault for not saying we were out!

Now he's stressing that the washing machine will be fuc*ed. And he's making it out that it's my fault. WTF??

Everyone knows you should never use old bottles for other items, I learned that in my COSHH training and told him so but it went down like a lead balloon!

How do we save the washing machine,? We've just taken all the clothes out and put it on a 30 degree 30 min wash. Will that be enough to dilute it so the next load of washing won't stink of petrol.

Think partner is upset due to it being Mothers Day and no Mum but even so, why are men so bloody moody??

This happened to my late gran who stored polyfiller in a fixodent tub and glued her mouth together and we had to call the fire brigade because she had a panic attack

Never mix labeled containers of any kind, it's not worth the saving

🤣 sorry

I don't even think you can store petrol in just some random bottle can you? He's an idiot.
I can't imagine how much you'll have to run the machine to clear it. Petrol is bugger

No you can't! It's not even remotely safe! He's an idiot.

Im sorry OP but this really ticked me

“Everyone knows you should never use old bottles for other items, I learned that in my COSHH training and told him so but it went down like a lead balloon!”

the pair of you have just ended up with petrol in your washing machine and you chose to demonstrate what a knob he was by reminding him of some training you’ve had!? I’m not surprised it went down like a lead <boom boom> balloon.

it’s all part pf the tapestry of life you’ll laugh about someday

im afraid think id get a new machine though
