Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in not my morning spot, in complete silence. I'd still be asleep but both cats were fussing around me for their breakfast 🙄. Girl cat's gone and snuggled up with one of the girls, boy cat's lounging in the front window - it catches the sun most of the day so he's toasty warm.

Today's plan is to head to B&M and The Range for some things we need here & a couple of the things I want to replace. I also want to start looking for decorating inspiration. I think it'll feel more like home if it's how we want it to look, rather than plain, white, walls. I need to do a small shop too - probably at the local small Asda - we're running on fumes. Not sure if dd2 is coming with me, or staying here to revise 🤷‍♀️.

Dd1's home to work but has secured herself a hospitality job at Wembley Stadium so will also have some income from there. She doesn't start til 2pm so is still asleep for now.

This evening will probably be more unpacking, followed by showers, and an hour with my book before heading to bed so I'm up earlyish again tomorrow to crack on with more boxes.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning!
Pleased to hear you're settling in ok and boy cats found the elusive sun.

Cleaning here today so I dont have to do any tomorrow. And walking the sausage dog in the sunshine.
Dh will be playing with his cars and dd,when she eventually gets up, will be joining him.
Goodbye Mr Chips in on tv later so I'll be able to watch that in peace.
Chicken new yorker for tea. Rather hoping dd might cook it.

Hope you find some inspiration in b and m and the range.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Placemarking as just about to jump in the shower 🚿

Bringyourfoldingchair · 14/03/2026 09:13

Good morning @lucysmam. I hope you’re settling in well!

DH brought coffee and a hot cross bun this morning and I had that and then a shower. Back in bed now but going to get up soon and finish getting ready and clean up downstairs.

Today I plan to take DCs to the cinema and then for a swim and to the soft play. Maybe in for a mcds lunch while we are out and about.

I’d really love a Chinese for dinner tonight but think we will have one tomorrow since it’s Mother’s Day so will maybe just put a chilli in the slow cooker and have that this evening.

Have a good everyone!

Good morning Lucysmam and others. It sounds like there are positives to your house move.
I've had 2 coffees and a cuppa. The cuppa was weaker than normal for some reason. My much wanted slice of toast didn't happen because the bread was mouldy. I had a hot cross bun instead which tasted odd. Not off but the spices were too strong. Fortunately I'm meeting a friend for second breakfast later.
Once home, I will potter around. I'll strip the bed and get the whites done before a tesco delivery.

Enjoy your day

Tangerinesattack · 14/03/2026 09:16

Good morning all.

We've all been up since 7 for no real reason but feeling quite rested. It's been really loud with storms through the night the past few days and we've all had quite broken sleep but last night was quiet, thank goodness. I've got a towel wash on and I'm about to stick some pain au chocolat in the oven. Quiet day planned here - a few chores and things to get done but no real plans.

I do have some good news though - my work have finally agreed to let me drop to 3 days a week (from 5). It's been a total battle! I found out midweek but it's only today it's actually sinking in. I feel so much lighter and relaxed already even though my new work pattern won't start for a few weeks.
Dinner tonight is cheese and chilli toasties, I think, with masala dirty fries. And some fizzy wine to celebrate my imminent slacking off!

Have a great day everyone.

Ps @Rowgtfc72 What's chicken new yorker?

Simonjt · 14/03/2026 09:20

Good morning, its dull and rainy here so my morning run wasn’t very nice, so I cheated and ran to the gym instead and did a session there before running home.

My husbands gone for a cycle with some friends, rather him than me! So me and the kids are going to make some character pancakes in a bit and watch a film, I think we’re watching Mulan. The kids both need their feet measuring so we’ll do that after lunch, then we’ll be poor due to the insane price of decent kids shoes.

Have a lovely saturday

Tonissister · 14/03/2026 09:20

Good morning.

So far today I have fed the wildlife in the garden, fed our new rescue cat and cleaned out his tray. Made him a pompom from some wool S-i-L gave me - haven't made one since I was a child, but it worked. I watched him play with it very happily. Then emptied the dishwasher, made breakfast.

In a minute I'll have a shower then drag DH out for a walk up the hill while it is sunny. Then back to a stack of laundry sorting. Having a quiet weekend.

Peridot1 · 14/03/2026 09:24

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I have been missing from these threads for a month as I was in Australia. Got back on Thursday so back to normal time wise. The 11 hour time difference meant I was going to bed almost as you were all posting.

I take it that you moved house @lucysmam. Happy new home.

Jet lag has meant I’ve been up since around 5.30. Had an early morning delivery to be up for anyway. So have had tea, done my puzzles and had breakfast. Did a load of laundry and had a natter with my friend in Sydney. About to do the dishwasher and clean the kitchen.

No major plans today. Still have some of my unpacking to sort and put away. Need to open up the bookcase that was delivered earlier and make sure it’s ok. Yesterday’s laundry to fold and put away. Might do some garden planning. And then I’m just going to read my book this afternoon.

Im off to pick up a sewing machine from a man in the next town over. Then I'll tackle my son's cosplay and get it finished for him. Hopefully I can teach him to use the sewing machine too, so we can both work on his next cosplay together.

AmazingGreatAunt · 14/03/2026 09:27

Answer not AI-generated.
Having a very long breakfast at a 5* hotel on the borders of Germany, France & Luxembourg. On my fourth glass of local sparkling wine, but doubt I will manage a fifth.
Need to decide if I should stay a little longer or bite the bullet.
Very much enjoying the people watching, although 80% are in the obese category. Thankfully at nearly 70 I am not.

DilemmaDelilah · 14/03/2026 09:29

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

We got back from a week away yesterday, and although it was lovely to be away I'm really enjoying being home!

My seedlings survived the week we were away, and grew more, which is really good to see. My tomatoes are now about 7cm tall, my peppers had not sprouted when we left but are about 4cm tall, and my Welsh onions have also grown. Mr Dilemma has planted flower seeds, some of which were quite old but some I had put in his Christmas stocking, and none of those have sprouted at all! I planted some beetroot seeds yesterday afternoon, and Mr Dilemma is going to put some compost in the rest of the seed trays/pots today so that I can plant my perennial leeks, marrows and pot marigolds.

We have to pop out today to get milk, and something else Mr Dilemma thinks we need but I have forgotten what.... I think we will get stir fry veg as well as, apart from salad and frozen peas, my week has been vegetable free and I want some! My stir fries are always packed FULL of veg which will do us both good.

I would also like to go down to the churchyard where my mother is buried to leave some flowers, but as Mr Dilemma has been doing all the driving (I'm not allowed to drive at the moment) and he particularly dislikes driving on country lanes, I'm not sure how well that suggestion would go down. He was fantastic yesterday when I directed him completely the wrong way, adding half an hour to our journey and taking us down some VERY narrow lanes, so if he's not keen I'm not going to push it. I don't want to go tomorrow as there is likely to be a service in the church and I feel really awkward walking past the windows while that is going on.... plus there will be nowhere to park.

We haven't come back with loads of washing as there was a washer/dryer in our holiday accommodation, but I do have a little to do, so my day will probably be supermarket, laundry and seed planting.

huuskymam · 14/03/2026 09:31

Spending the day watching rugby on TV starting at 2 and babysitting the grand daughter this afternoon. Just pottering about this morning, cleaning snd catching up on washing.

DilemmaDelilah · 14/03/2026 09:34

Further update.... Mr Dilemma didn't put the car on charge last night (EV), so we haven't enough battery for the 45 minute journey to the churchyard and back - so definitely not doing that.

JacknDiane · 14/03/2026 09:34

Still in bed. Pondering getting up. Going for breakfast with dh and ds and meeting friend later for coffee.

frozendaisy · 14/03/2026 09:35

Morning morning
just listening to radio in peace as dad and youngster already on a muddy field chasing a ball around
we are going Mother’s Day meal out today, I wouldn’t bother but grandma would be upset I have tried every tactic to get out of it the rest have basically resorted to emotional blackmail - I said fine as long as it’s not on the Sunday because it was dreadful last year
I hate days like this - it’s up there with Valentine’s
It’s supposed to be when you return to your mother church (something related to Easter) to donate money there (and was a way of counting population) - yes I read out the history as part of my defence
I don’t need thanks for being a mother it’s (mostly) a joy and our teens are a continuing pleasure (they are on top form both of them at the moment) that’s all I need
plus I have had the best Mother’s Day ever 10/11 years back when they were super little and cute - nothing will beat that one.

so after getting eldest to do some work
then an obligation meal out
then take youngster to his second social invitation of the day and collect where he might/will eat another full meal with dessert

then home

I will enjoy coffee and radio whilst I can

even school shirt wash seems like a joy right now!

MinnieMountain · 14/03/2026 09:36

Good morning everyone.

I've done the food shop and the washing. DS(12) has been out to get secret things for MD after I had a mini rant last night about his inability to tidy up after himself.

The cat has been traumatised by another cat trying to get in. She's only 11 months old and I don't think she's met other cats apart from her family, so hopefully she'll learn to defend her territory.

DS and I are going out for a bike ride in the Fens soon. I've made lentil soup for lunch. Burgers and a film for supper. I've got a mini Prosecco in the fridge too.

DH gets back from his ski trip late tonight.

Rainbow1235 · 14/03/2026 09:40

morning lucysmam and to u all . So glad your settled in your new home . We have had our grandson for 2 days as his mam had wisdom teeth out and the swelling and bruising is shocking but he’s goin home today and I want to pop to home bargains then home to chill and Chinese for tea later . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

willowtree66 · 14/03/2026 09:47

Morning all. I’m still in bed as we finished decorating our bedroom this week after three long months, so am enjoying all the newly-decorated freshness while I can. I’ve sent DH downstairs to make some porridge. I was up at 7 to feed the dogs and let them out, then two of them joined us on the bed for a snooze. After dog walk we need to head into town to get a new mattress, as the current one is on its last legs.

ShipshapeShore · 14/03/2026 09:49

Yet more house sorting (we moved 3 weeks ago), food shopping and a house full of teenage girls later. All I really want to do is read my book and have a nap!

lucysmam · 14/03/2026 09:54

Reading & napping sounds blissful @ShipshapeShore. Or a longer weekend perhaps so there was time for house sorting, and relaxing!

Enjoying first coffee of the day and catching up with what blokes have been up to on the news. Stripy cat has just swatted the dog as he attempted to innocently walk past her. It's nice to see she's her normal self.
The sun's out so I'll spend some time enjoying it in the garden today and recharge my batteries a little. The wildflower patch is the ready to be sown. I've gone for a cornfield annual mix this year as counting on some of last year's perennials to come through again. It's gorgeous when in full bloom. I'll also send DH up the ladder to finish pruning the hard to reach parts of the wisteria.
I'll drag my carcass up to the gym later on for a quick weight training session. DS is working towards his bronze DofE so he'll be litter picking and going for a run at some point. I had him and DH come up with a non-paranoid prepping list yesterday in case of national disaster (not zombie apocalypse) so we'll probably purchase some items to store for that. I'm doing duck livers for dinner and making Bakewell slices at some point.

Thislittlekitten · 14/03/2026 10:00

Good snoring Saturday Crew

Im in bed with a cup of tea. I’ve been up and put a wash on and showered but been a bit groggy as was very sick at 3am. I feel better now but just a slow start to the day. I don’t think it was a bug. We had a take away and very soon after it I felt uncomfortable.

Im hoping to have the laundry sorted today as we have a busy day of drop offs tomorrow. Dog will need a big walk and I need to do some reading for work and for me.

Not sure about tea tonight but it will be light for me.

bonesbuffy · 14/03/2026 10:01

I’ve been to M&S, next, the post office and Sainsbury’s. Headed home to sort the bedding after the cat got rid of a hairball on it Envy

Hedgehogsaremyjam · 14/03/2026 10:12

Just finishing breakfast and then making myself go outside to start tackling the wilderness that our garden has become over winter.

I actually love gardening but my job is really busy and stressful and I am feeling burnt out so finding it hard to get any motivation
