It ain't nothing but a heart-breaker
(War) Friend only to The Undertaker
(Edwin Starr 1970, written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong)

Unless, of course, your name ends in Trump, when it ain't nothing but an opportunity to grift, deflect and destroy.

Trump says US Navy sank Iran's warship off the coast of Sri Lanka because "it's more fun" to sink ships than capture them.

That’s admitting to a war crime surely?

It’s revelling in it. 😞

RafaistheKingofClay · 09/03/2026 22:59

That’s just murder, isn’t it?

"Fun?"

He probably still has his toy boats and subs from childhood and 'play battles' with them in the bathtub.

Do NOT think about that too long. You will need to bleach your brain!

Llttledrummergirls · 09/03/2026 23:26

"Major strides to completing military objectives"- which are?
"Wiped every single force in Iran out" -I call bullshit
"Ahead of our initial timeline by a lot" - what is it, I thought he said 2 days at the start?
No idea on the layers of leadership,

"As you know we want to be involved, we don't want another president that maybe wouldn't be willing to do what I'm willing to do for the good of the world, for the good of our nation. To be stuck with this situation 5 years or 10 years from now".

When people say for the greater good, they are lying.
How dare he presume to make decisions for my country- he has done nothing for the good of the World so he can fuck right off.

He's definitely planning on a third term, that's pretty damn clear. I hope the Americans wake up fast. He's in over his head with Iran and has fucked the world over.

I said to dh earlier that he's going say it's finished, everyone dead, and in 6 months Iran will blow up what's left of the White house.

He's fucking deluded.

Llttledrummergirls · 09/03/2026 23:53

Yes I'm really pissed off that this piece of shit fuckhead wants the whole world's population grovelling before him in adulation, thanking him for screwing the world over and causing so much harm, death and destruction.

So how does that work with the current CNN Chyron (and words coming out of his mouth): "Trump speaks as US launches new strikes on Iran"

"The soil was no match for our interceptor missiles". HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Yes arsehole, missiles win over DIRT every time!!

Bawbag. Bellend.

Scrolling down the thread without looking at the names of posters, I see the last two words above and say to myself: “AcrossthePond.” Grin

Scrolling through headlines before coming over here this morning, I found this in the Grauniad: Vague and contradictory Trump says Iran war ‘won’, but not ‘won enough’ 'Bout sums it up.

Unfortunately it’s not just him, there’s a weird culty bit of American society that is screamingly angry at the rest of the world for not perpetually grovelling to the US. They’re the ones who insist that if we have free-at-point-of-access healthcare, it’s because the US is “paying” for it so any aggressive action they take towards us is justified.

I really feel for the sane Americans, they’re also in the culty Americans’ sights!

On the world side, outside the middle east, exactly what was predicted in starting to happen. CNN feed :

"South Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung has said his country cannot stop the United States from redeploying some of its weapons out of the country, but said such a move would not impact deterrence against North Korea.
His comments come after reports in local media suggested US forces were moving Patriot missile systems to the US Osan Air base near Pyeongtaek for possible shipping to the Middle East.

“It appears that there is a controversy recently over US Forces in Korea (USFK) shipping some batteries or air defense weapons out of the country,” Lee said at Tuesday’s Cabinet Meeting, without confirming the reported shipments.
“We are voicing our opposition to the USFK shipping some of its air defense weapons according to their military needs as the situation unfolds, but it is also a clear reality that we cannot fully carry through our opinion,” Lee added.
When asked about the reports, USFK said Friday that it does “not comment on the movement, relocation, or potential repositioning of specific military capabilities or assets” but said the US “remains firmly committed” to South Korea’s defense.

South Korea’s defense ministry said, “it is not appropriate for our government to comment on force employment of the USFK.”
Camp Humphries: South Korea is home to the US military’s largest overseas base and hosts Patriot batteries and a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system. These systems would be crucial to defend against any missile attack by North Korea on its neighbor."

Of course we all know what a gigantic idiot Trump is, but I am starting to wonder if there are any grown ups around him at all.

Sure, we know how he has purged the US system, but surely there must be someone somewhere to explain some of this to him.

"I will say that the tomahawk which is one of the most powerful weapons around is used by used by you know and sold by other countries you know that, and wither it’s Iran who also has some tomahawks ,I wish they had more. But eh wither it’s Iran or somebody else the fact that a tomahawk a tomahawk is very generic it’s sold to other countries but eh that’s being investigated ."

I transcribed that from a clip of Trump. Neither Isreal no Iran have or use tomahawks.

And what does this mean :"I wish they had more" ?

Of course he wishes Iran had tomahawks. But they don't. And it does appear to be a tomahawk that hit the school. Subject to investigation of course.

It should be noted that misfired missiles that malfunction leave a very different "signature" than missiles that hit their target. Depending on how far they travel from launch. Misfires that fail shortly after launch have a lot of unspent fuel, so they cause big fires and not much destruction. Targeted explode with no fire and total destruction.

Missiles that fail long into their trips tend to just fall into fields. Little or no unspent fuel and the explosive is not armed.

I don't know. I'm American and I'm not sure I agree with that. I think those people don't think about the rest of the world at all except in the way Reform people think about refugees/immigrants.

I've been wondering why the right wing media here has been so eager to get on board with this unnecessary war, but I guess spiking oil prices and COL and having to deal publicly with the orange toddler's tantrums and whims are creating a horrible situation for Labour. The number of people on this site screaming about how we need to drill in the North Sea (with no real understanding of what's involved) is depressing.

Well that's just every day standard for them. I suspect this is more about sowing internal division at home.

Was watching a clip of Starmer talk last night. Was reminded of 2022 when this last happened and the Tories and media blamed the Russia-Ukraine war despite the fact that everyone else did put things into place and reduced the impact the rising cost of energy had. The Tories were only forced into action to cover up Boris Johnson’s problems. I doubt Starmer is going to be given so much leeway and any cost of living rise will be Labour’s fault.

From what I remember Labour tried to introduce support for rising cost of living twice in 2022 with opposition bills. Both were voted down by Tories before they introduced their own much less supportive one. I think it must have been the Chris Pincher story because I’m sure Boris left not long after and we ended up with Liz Truss.

@AcrossthePond55don't forget 'The Masochism Tango'. Introduced to TL by previous employer: enormously straight-laced old Wykhamist in JRMogg line, but absolutely obsessed with Bach & TL (saving grace!)

A good point I seen is that TACO is showing that he has no stomach for the markets falling. Killing people, dropping bombs, sinking ships, petrol prices etc no problem, but if the markets fall his feet turn to blocks of ice.

This will have been well noted by other regimes.

Conservatives allowed the closure of the rough storage facility because centrica said it wasn't profitable.
So profits were put ahead of national fuel security.
All the Daily mail thickos shouting use Nsea gas...even if it was possible there's nowhere to keep the bloody stuff.
