Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in our new home 🥳. I don't think this is destined to become my weekend morning spot though!

Boy cat is curled up on the cat tree after causing chaos at the old house & having to be lured from under cupboards with catnip. Girl is somewhere about...not sure where but I have seen her this morning!

I'm meant to be nipping dd2 into town today for a few bits but think I might suggest I'll collect them tomorrow when I go for keys for her and dd1, since the cobbler is shut today.

I think what I'll do is sit here a while longer, start pottering in the kitchen, and see what she says when she gets up 🤔. If she doesn't mind, then I can carry on pottering!

I haven't spoken to dd1 yet - I doubt she has much planned other than bed rotting 🤣. She did her shopping yesterday, so she didn't need to move today. She will have reading to do before this week's lectures though so I'll ask about it at some point.

No idea what's for tea yet - I'll look as I sort the kitchen. After tea will certainly be showers all round, a nice sit down & early nights ready for school and work tomorrow 💤💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

I’m making a birthday cake and prepping a Sunday lunch for my MIL. Just about to pop to the butchers while the cake cools 🎂

Rowgtfc72 · 08/03/2026 10:09

Morning!
Congratulations on the move @lucysmam . Hope you find your morning spot.
Just watched the F1 on catch up with a bacon and mushroom bun. Dh and sausage dog joined me.
Dd still in bed after 19th birthday celebrations. Security cameras show her arriving home at just gone midnight with a pizza box- always the best end to a good night out.
Today I will be mostly cleaning the oven. Wish me luck!

Dinotruxagain · 08/03/2026 10:17

Good Morning!

Hope you dont mind me joining in.

Its a beautiful sunny day in the NE today so I'll be doing such excitment as pegging the washing out, this makes me happier than it has any right to do! 😆

Then I'm putting up our new fence while hubby puts in a new shower, DS 10 going on 21 is playing on the VR while we get sorted, then trip to town and the tip to drop stuff off.
We bought a fixer upper last year so a lot of DIY has been doing on.

Then dog walking field is booked for 5, we have a new rescue but it means I can let her run free without worrying about her chasing sheep while we work on her recall.

All on a pretty decent Sunday all things considering!

JingsMahBucket · 08/03/2026 10:33

Good morning everyone. Great news @lucysmam that you’ve moved and everything went well! 🥳🎉

@freshstartdreamer I’m also recovering from a cold and was flat out yesterday too. Today’s focus is cleaning and putting the house in a bit of order because OH has been sick this past week too. We’re both still in bed though and he’s snoring away. 😂

Let me launch myself out of bed so I can make breakfast. Laundry, aerating the house, cleaning the toilets, and stripping the bed are the main focus of the day. We have a grocery order coming this evening but I think pork fried rice will be dinner pre-delivery. Have a beautiful Sunday everyone!

This is the nicest and most relaxing thread to read. I love it.

I’m sat down and scrolling after a morning of tidying the house and running around after my two little ones. DH is about to come back from a weekend away so I’m looking forward to a peaceful walk by myself. 3 cats somewhere around the house all napping. And roast chicken for dinner later.

Topsy44 · 08/03/2026 10:45

Well done on the move Lucysmam, it sounds like it’s all gone well.

Dropped DD off this morning at a random field for her and a group of others to do their practise DofE bronze walk. So I have a much needed few hours of peace which will involve mainly cups of tea, cuddling Dcat and watching a film!

I might do a roast chicken for tea and get a nice dessert in for DD after her walk today. Then the usual uniform and work clothes sorting for the week ahead.

Hope you all have lovely Sundays.

A busy start this morning as I batch cooked some food for DS3 before I had my morning coffee ☕️.

Had a painful vulva punch biopsy on Thursday & still so, so sore. Hoping to not do too much more today but it really needs a proper tidy up.

Gingerly sitting down now for a hazelnut latte, waiting for paracetamol to kick in, then will rope in DS1 to help me tidy up kitchen & hallway (biggest culprits) while DH is doing homework with DS2. DS1 wants us to play Switch 2 later so I want to get as much done as I can this morning so we can chill later.

Yesterday I had fun researching ideas for our living room & hallway redecorating at the end of the year so I might do some more of that today (a reward for doing all the tidying up!).

Tiddlywinks63 · 08/03/2026 11:28

Good morning @lucysmam ,and followers, I hope you will be very happy in your new home 💐
I had a very early dog walk with small dog, in thick, cold, craggy fog. Very atmospheric but it was more like November than spring.
it’s starting to clear a bit but still barely 6° here.
I’m still breathless so it’s taken a while to prepare dinner ( roast lamb, potatoes, mashed swede, carrots, broccoli and Yorkshire pudding)
A friend came for coffee, nice to see her and DH has taken bigger dog out.
I want to start some embroidery but my oomph has evaporated…

Whatarewecountingdownfor · 08/03/2026 11:38

Morning (well only just still)

had a cup of tea and watched some telly in bed so far .

pottering around today for me. House needs some tiding and I want to relax around jobs.

ds 15 is out on a bike ride, dd18 is at her friends having her hair done (yep , but I’m picking my battles atm)

showers and getting ready for work this evening.

I also plan on a bit of reading this afternoon. I’m trying to read 50 pages a week to try get back into a better hobby.

feeling very restless at the moment

PearlsTeapot · 08/03/2026 11:48

Morning (just) all!

@lucysmam congrats on the move! Glad the stress is finally over for you and I hope the unpacking goes well. I love making a new place feel like home.

I've had my berries and yogurt and honey and a big coffee, and a shower, but otherwise it's been a very lazy morning. I'm watching my church service online because I was too lazy to get out of bed and drive there! Which I feel guilty about now but ah well.

Sunny here in our corner of Scotland. DW took the dogs for a 2 hour walk so they're crashed out while she gets ready- we're taking grandma out for lunch, highlight of the week, hanging out with a 91 year old firecracker. She's lost her spark a little bit since she had a very bad fall 6 weeks ago so we're determined to get her out today.

DS will be out on Pokemon go today no doubt as there's an event on.

Steak pie out of the freezer is defrosting for dinner. Will have it with mash and broccoli. Will put the towels load on to wash before I go out.

@Simonjt good luck tomorrow, wishing you all the best with your new job.

mondaytosunday · 08/03/2026 11:58

Congrats on your move!
I am still in bed (I have got up to feed the cats). Just thinking time to hit the shower and get something to eat. I was planning on a walk to the park to check out the daffodils (it’s a restored Victorian park and they do the flower beds beautifully and have a swathe of daffodils under the trees) but it’s pretty grey out. Since my last dog died last month I haven’t gone for a walk and have been using a treadmill. It feels weird just going for a walk without her with me.
I really need to get some designs my sister requested done - however the AI program I used to use has changed and I hate the results I’ve been getting. It’s led to hours of frustration. But I’ll have to send her something and she can chose the one she wants finalised.
Other than that there’s always housework which I have no problem ignoring! I have some painful life/work admin to do - I need to renew my HMO license on a rental property that is not an HMO at all but the council requires all rentals in that street to have them. And of course the reason why is they charge £742 for the license. It is a ridiculous form ‘standing in the street, where is the bathroom in relation to your livingroom’ or something equally irrelevant. But I need to do it.
Supper will be bacon and butter bean cassoulet which will do for tomorrow as well.

MinnieMountain · 08/03/2026 12:02

What cake have you made @pinkpony88 ?

PearlsTeapot · 08/03/2026 12:28

@mondaytosunday sorry about the loss of your dog. Must have been tough recently so I’m not surprised you’ve been on a treadmill. Do get outside if you can, you deserve to feel the sunshine on your skin even without a pup by your side xx

It’s a Victoria sponge. My MIL is fairly traditional in her tastes so I thought I’d play it safe 🤭

A home made Victoria sponge is a fine thing.

Evening all - very late to the party! @lucysmam hope everything went smoothly with your move (I haven’t read the thread yet). Another busy day. Worked a 4 hour shift & actually it wasn’t too bad. Sundays are usually mad busy but it was just steady. I prefer it when I can engage more with customers. Sometimes people end up showing me photos of their pets or grandchildren & I’ve had some lovely chats. After I finished, I got a half price bag of spuds & a Mother’s Day card - managed not to cry reading the cards. They often set me off anyway but it’s particularly difficult this year 😢 Home for lunch of garlic sausage sandwiches, 2 packets of crisps & a cuppa with a Picnic bar. Only my 2nd cuppa of the day. I drank my first in bed this morning with DH. Fell asleep on the settee after that. I’m so tired! Think it’s accumulated from staying with my folks & a few late nights/very early mornings. DH & I drove over to the garage where my car is being serviced & fixed tomorrow. I dropped the keys through the letterbox then DH drove me back. It’s super misty here in Cornwall. Feels like October! Oh & we popped into Co op for a couple of bits. Haven’t seen much of DD17 today. She brought her duvet cover down to wash & some dirty dishes that had been left in her room. I was going to do Pieminister pies, double cream mash & peas for tea but couldn’t be bothered to peel the potatoes. DH is going to have filled pasta with a tub of tomato & basil sauce & I might have an Iceland creamy cheesy chicken pasta that cooks from frozen. DD will sort herself out. Going to watch the last in the series of Call The Midwife then more of The Good Doctor, although DH remarked last night that it had got a bit boring lately.
