Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

lucysmam · 08/03/2026 08:54

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in our new home 🥳. I don't think this is destined to become my weekend morning spot though!

Boy cat is curled up on the cat tree after causing chaos at the old house & having to be lured from under cupboards with catnip. Girl is somewhere about...not sure where but I have seen her this morning!

I'm meant to be nipping dd2 into town today for a few bits but think I might suggest I'll collect them tomorrow when I go for keys for her and dd1, since the cobbler is shut today.

I think what I'll do is sit here a while longer, start pottering in the kitchen, and see what she says when she gets up 🤔. If she doesn't mind, then I can carry on pottering!

I haven't spoken to dd1 yet - I doubt she has much planned other than bed rotting 🤣. She did her shopping yesterday, so she didn't need to move today. She will have reading to do before this week's lectures though so I'll ask about it at some point.

No idea what's for tea yet - I'll look as I sort the kitchen. After tea will certainly be showers all round, a nice sit down & early nights ready for school and work tomorrow 💤💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning Lucysmam

I am in awe of how sorted you sound.

I have a day off today. Might just potter, rest, housework and a walk.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 08/03/2026 09:05

Good morning lucysmam and others. It sounds like the move went well, apart from boy cat shenanigans.
I achieved most of what I wanted to do yesterday. Today I've had 2 coffees, a cuppa and 2 small slices of fruit loaf, toasted. Shortly I'll get dressed and go to the garden centre to buy shears and a new brush. The weather here has been spring like for the last 4 days which is motivating me. Dinner will be salad and quiche later. Enjoy your day

Thislittlekitten · 08/03/2026 09:06

Morning @lucysmam

Congratulations on the move and I hope you get your spot sorted!

This morning I’m coaxing a reluctant DS into getting ready for his club. Increasingly fed up of this every week but I’ve told him if he wants to quit he is making the decision not me.

Today I need to get on top of the laundry. Absolute piles to do. House is fairly clean as did that yesterday. I need to food shop, think of tea.

I have reading for a course to do and a later dog walk. DH is doing this mornings one.
Enjoy your Sundays everyone.

lucysmam · 08/03/2026 09:07

@Breathmiller surprisingly sorted! It does help that I made everyone pile boxes by room, but not in the rooms, so it's fairly easy to see what's what & quite tidily piled up.

Morning morning

Well done team on the moving hope the new kitchen spot declares itself soon

And at least you managed not to lose a cat or teenage in the process.

I have a new additional teen here later who has been told by eldest that my cooking is amazing - oh my god child - so no pressure - beef roast it is, I can do that in my sleep (although watch me fuck this one up) as I couldn’t get a straight answer if new teen was allergic to garlic (garlic can you imagine) and everything else I make is garlic heavy - I made the chocolate sponges of the cake yesterday so that just needs buttercream - easy

It feels like I am in Masterchef involuntarily

will start the day with coffee and reading about the French Rivera and wake teens in a bit in an attempt to extract information from them - it shouldn’t be this hard.

Enjoy the new space, light, garden, area @lucysmam and everyone settles in quickly

lucysmam · 08/03/2026 09:11

🤣 @frozendaisy no...no lost teens. Dd1 very helpfully rang as we were about to leave the old house, to moan she has to make a decision, because she's triple booked herself at the end of the month. She said she didn't know we'd be doing anything...

Not much today (thankfully). Just sat watching the F1 with tea and toast. Hoping to get out into the garden later as it’s looking pretty shabby!

Simonjt · 08/03/2026 09:19

I hope you’re not too knackered after the move, if you’re anything like us you’ll still have unpacked boxes in three years time…

We’re all going swimming this morning (I absolutely hate swimming), I start my new job tomorrow (I was made redundant in November), so I’m going to be getting ready for that, so my husbands going to take the kids to a soft play/bounce play for a few hours after lunch.

No plans this evening, so we might watch something on TV, whatever we do it will involve being very lazy.

Have a nice sunday.

Fridaysgirl17 · 08/03/2026 09:20

Good morning,I've just come downstairs I've had 2 kids in my bed this morning (don't worry they are mine 🤣 8 & 6) I've made them breakfast & made myself a coffee & having a yoghurt for breakfast,I've sat down because I started a new medication this week & it can make me a bit light headed so I'll sit for a little bit while the boys are quiet,I've popped on a wash so that's going, depending on weather & friends we may hit the playground later,I've a lovely katsu curry for dinner later with rice & I'll be working on my online shop for Thursday delivery,I'm planning a beef roast for mother's day for us,so just the rest of the week to plan 🤦🏻‍♀️

OchreSwan · 08/03/2026 09:23

Congrats on the move @lucysmam!

I’ve been up for a couple of hours as I wanted to break the back of the housework I didn’t get done yesterday, so I’ve cleaned the bathroom, put on a load of washing, cleared away a suitcase I used for a work trip earlier in the week, and took out the recycling and bin (more work than you would think when you live on the third floor!). Just had coffee and toast in bed as a treat (normally no food allowed in bed, especially toast because of the crumbs, but we’re changing the sheets later).

DP is working today, so I’m just deciding what to do with myself. I have a haircut booked in and need to do another trip to the supermarket for things I forgot yesterday. I’m planning on doing yet more batch cooking this afternoon. The rest of March is incredibly busy so I’m just trying to set us up for success as much as possible!

I started a new book last night so will probably continue with that, and maybe will have a bath later. I’m doing a mini-roast tray bake with chicken legs later for dinner, and then hopefully an early night ready for a busy week ahead!

gingercat02 · 08/03/2026 09:23

Morning glad you're moved , you sound very organised! Hope everyone settles in quickly.

DH has just left to do a 12K trail race. It's rather significant as he had a cardiac arrest and heart attack after this very race 3 years ago. He really needs it to go well to put the demons to bed!
I'm going to my class to take my mind of it, we are both a bit anxious.

DS is in bed, he has 3 lots of course work to finish and is out at 4ish for a fundraising/memorial for his friends brother.

DH and I need to catch up with the Aussie F1, usual washing etc, first load is on already.
Probably carbonara for tea if DS is out and a glass of wine or 2.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone

freshstartdreamer · 08/03/2026 09:24

Morning, I’ve felt rubbish since Friday as have a streaming cold. Yesterday was spent mostly in bed trying to rest and sleep it off. Determined to not waste today as well but severely lacking in energy and enthusiasm! Might set myself some very small challenges like two short dog walks, one load of laundry etc. Probably with a couple of podcasts thrown in.

Firework73 · 08/03/2026 09:30

Hi I’m a forever lurker but live for this one , it’s always so uplifting to hear other from other people’s lives , it’s really a lovely thread. Lucysmam I’m in awe of how you seemed so calm in the face of the challenges you have faced in your house search . I hope you are able to now finally relax and make it home … @Simonjt I’m always happy to hear your updates as you live such an active life it seems with two kids in tow … I wish I was like that more when mine was young . I also adopted a baby now a teen who sees herself as both Sikh and Christian so always nice to hear how you are allowing yours to be open to all faiths .
Have a happy Sunday all

MinnieMountain · 08/03/2026 09:32

Morning all

DH is away skiing, so it's just me and DS(12) for the week.

The cat joined me for my morning coffee in bed. I've been for a little walk to the shop for breakfast and watched Alice Roberts on TV. DS has done some homework.

We've got to do the food shop, then we're taking MIL out to lunch (Indian). We'll probably go to the local museum too.

Minestrone for supper.

DilemmaDelilah · 08/03/2026 09:32

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I'm glad you got moved in OK and I hope you settle in well.

Not quite a good morning for me, unfortunately. I started some new medication for my back on Friday and the side effects kicked in last night, with dizziness, nausea and headache. AND I still have back pain! So - no swimming for me this morning, and swimming is the reason we came here.

I had a phone call yesterday evening, from a place where I had tried (and failed) to book myself a facial and massage while we are on holiday. They had a cancellation so I have that booked for Thursday.

Nothing else planned for today, apart from swimming if this dizziness passes. Mr Dilemma will be 'cooking' for us this evening, bread chunky cod fishfingers, chips (for him) and peas, so just an easy meal.

Taytocrisps · 08/03/2026 09:35

Good morning everyone. Relations between DD and I are slightly on the cool side after yesterday's row.

DCat2 is settling herself in her favourite armchair, in preparation for a post-breakfast nap.

DCat1 must be upstairs somewhere - on DD's bed or in his cat house.

I'm going to have breakfast shortly (porridge and strawberries).

Once breakfast is out of the way, I'm going to tackle a drawer full of paperwork. I've been through a long, legal process (separation and then transferring the house into my own name). I never knew when the bank or solicitor would come looking for X document or Y document. So I held onto stuff longer than I needed to. Time to say goodbye to it all. Ex's name is on some of those documents, so I think it will be good to have it gone.

Lunch will be a chicken and bacon pasta dish.

I've missed a week off work due to illness, so I might sit down for an hour this afternoon and read through my e-mails and make a 'To Do' list. That way I can hit the ground running tomorrow.

I've a meeting this evening with a local group I'm involved with. Hopefully it doesn't run too late and then I can catch the last episode of 'Call the Midwife' when I get back. We usually end our meeting with tea, coffee and cake. So I've a nice cake to take along.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

Crunchymum · 08/03/2026 09:38

Happy first morning (and thread!) in your new home lucysmam

Have a poorly little one today - tummy ache, headache, temperature, cough and cold. So I'm in with her today.

Oldest is seeing friends for a few hours later and DP will take DC2 out for a bike ride and hot chocolate.

I'll roast a chicken when the food shopping arrives and I'll do it with homemade potato salad, green salad and some garlic bread.

Thankfully despite being ill, DC3 did sleep so we're not too tired. She has managed a weetabix but temp is still a little high so she can have a sofa day whilst I do the Sunday chores.

Early night all round.

* I call her little one but she's 8!! She's the little one of our family.

lucysmam · 08/03/2026 09:39

@Simonjt I can beat your three years 🤣 there are a couple of crates of books that weren't unpacked when we moved into the old house almost ten years ago 🙈

Unmedicated ADHD, I don’t recommend it!

Tangerinesattack · 08/03/2026 09:46

Good morning all! Feeling a bit better today as my period came so that explains the previous week's moodiness. Must make an appointment with the menopause nurse to tweak my HRT. Our washing machine isn't broken- hooray! But we realised this when our fuse box went on fire yesterday evening. Luckily our electrician neighbour came and fixed it but it was a bit alarming. I have to get him some pringles and haribo today as he doesn't drink and wouldn't take any payment - those are his treats of choice!

More of my mum's admin first thing - I think I'm going to have to buy a printer for all the documents I need to provide - then I'm going to take DS for a walk to the bookshop. We'll both buy a book then take it to a cafe for hot chocolate and a good read to celebrate world book day from Thursday. DH is doing a bit of house renovation work. Then a chill afternoon with my new jigsaw - it's Miss Marple themed. Roast sirloin joint for dinner - an m & s yellow sticker find! Have a great day, everyone!

EstrellaPolar · 08/03/2026 09:47

Good morning everyone and @lucysmam. I used to be a regular on these threads then disappeared for about a year and have just rejoined again. Glad to see you’re all still going strong. Happy first Sunday in your new home!

I was up at 5am to watch the F1 race, then managed to clear a bit of admin. Ran dishwasher and currently the second load of laundry is on. Rest of the morning will be a bit of ironing and cleaning which I’ve avoided all week.

Today I also have to book some travel insurance (for a trip in 10 days eek - booked not long ago before you all come at me) and start writing my packing list.

I’ll be at work 4-8pm which is not too bad for a weekend at my job. I’d been dreaming of a post-lunch nap but I doubt I can fit it in…

BrownSharpie · 08/03/2026 09:49

I’m at work. Managers are panicking because of an extremely tight deadline to meet with absolutely no room for error and things keep going wrong.

NorthernDramaLlama · 08/03/2026 09:52

Good morning!
Our gardener came yesterday (sounds v posh, he comes every 2-3 weeks to mow the grass as I’m terrible at it and DP loathes doing it with a passion) for the first cut if the year so I’m getting ready to put the first load of washing outside to dry!
DD has had a shower and is beautifying herself as we’re off out for Sunday lunch later. Another first time this year!

babbi · 08/03/2026 09:57

Morning all !
good luck in your new house @lucysmam

A very busy day here … lots to do in the house and then catch a train to be closer to the location of a big meeting I’m attending tomorrow 😩
5 hour journey 🥲

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 08/03/2026 10:00

Good morning, congratulations on your new house!!

I have to deal with all three of my kids today (the horror of having to deal with your children, who you made the decision to have… I know) because my DH is helping my dad sorting out the shed. I’ve already got a text saying that it’s not so much helping him out it’s more doing it for him, but that’s typical dad. I did tell him there’s 20 years worth of crap in the shed but he didn’t listen and wanted to be a good son in law.

I think I am going to meet up with my friend and her kids and we will probably go to the park or the woods and release the children into the wild.
