This was very much 'don't mention the war' from Badenoch at pmqs

The opposition seems utterly obsessed with Mandelson today. Obviously he’s far more important than Trump’s war that they were urging Starmer to join a few days ago.

I looked up what Nick Timothy had posted Shock

https://bsky.app/profile/sundersays.bsky.social/post/3mhcbuxolw22j

Open Iftar project has held events in Trafalgar Square since 2019. Eg: 2023. Easter, Chanukah Diwali + Vaisakhi also marked annually at Trafalgar Square.

Nick Timothy - the Shadow Lord Chancellor - says "it shouldn't happen again" claiming it was "an act of domination and therefore division"

It's a bit Great Replacement Theory-ish, isn't it.

“A British billionaire convicted in the US for failing to implement adequate money-laundering controls on his crapto (edited for MN) business is funding a political base in the heart of Westminster used by “anti-woke” and rightwing activists.
Ben Delo, 42, who was pardoned by Donald Trump last year, has given support in kind to Rupert Lowe, the anti-migration MP challenging Nigel Farage from the right – while also connecting with mainstream figures including the Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and former cabinet minister Michael Gove”

Delo lives in HK. Seems to run networking events for the far right.

Kemi Badenoch's spokesman would not explain whether she, or the Conservative Party, had also objected to this event taking place during the eight years when it was hosted by Boris Johnson

Some nice news from Wales. Greyhound racing is going to be banned. There is only one track in Wales, but it is a good example to set, I think.

Yes, I’m very pleased. As a dogs’ home volunteer I’m bracing for an influx of ‘stray’ greyhounds though…
Dog welfare aside I will enjoy that as I love walking sight hounds.

I read that there is some sort of partnership between various organisations to ensure every single greyhound finds a home. ❤️

So is he claiming the Diwali and Hanukkah events were also acts of domination that must be stopped?

If course he isn't. The square is actually a square roundabout. Have driven there and yes, it's a bit scary but I was young, free and kept my teeth nice and clean - the latter still applies.

But those were Tory Muslims. Khan’s Muslims are the wrong type.

the Tories may as well welcome Yaxley Lennon in to the Shadow Cabinet and have done with it.

That’s hopefully true of the racing ones. I suspect some breeders might do a strategic dump though.

Quoting myself but I think today's PMQs was a disaster for Badenoch and her shadow of their former selves Government.

Not a mention of the those who have lost their lives and are in hospital regarding the meningitis B outbreak. Just simply going bizarrely off tangent about an issue that isn't current. Read the fecking room Kemi.

I ve been Labour through and through for many years now.

ATM i couldn't vote for them again, i actually wish i hadn't at the last GE, in many ways, they are more like a traditional Tory Govt.

I feeling a bit pissed off as i hit a pot hole earlier and wrecked my bicycle wheel, had to get a taxi home, could have easily ended up in an Ambulance.... Labour have done SFA about that, wont do a thing about student debt (lost my DD there) nothing on Dentistry, weak on EU.

Sure they done some good things but the pace of change (and planned change) is glacial.

AR is dead right, Labour, like the Tories, may not be viable parties after 2029.

That's completely fair, but be aware that not voting (tactically) opens the door to Reform.

If another party is looking to beat Reform that isn't Labour in the next election, they have my vote.

Despite the mudslinging from some on here, (and unlike the rosette voters) I am not a mindless Labour shill.

I am very tired of that crap about us all being mindless Starmer supporters. Especially the posters who shoehorn it into almost every post they make, regardless of the subject.

I think if they were posting on a thread about the best Victoria sandwich recipe they'd manage it. "Victoria! Starmer's wife. OMG only on mn do people still support him blindly. Labour lot" etc.

I feel better for having got that off my chest!

It was "thinking" like that which basically gifted the Greens D&G

It's fascinating how the right is starting to suffer the same disease which has dogged the left for years. If the illness follows the same course, there is a very real danger the centre could nutmeg both.

The phrase 'The lady doth protest too much, methinks"' comes to mind with those posters.

I agree - the point I was trying to make was that not voting is never the way to go. Sometimes you have to hold your nose and vote for whoever will keep out the worse option.

Notonthestairs · 18/03/2026 18:39

Surely people draw up their own Venn diagram of parties closest to their beliefs & parties most likely to keep the wankers out and vote accordingly.

The Green Party candidate in my area, always the same one, like the Lib Dems, is not someone I'd vote for. I like my new Labour MP, after years of having an open supporter of the ERG Conservative MP.

So tactical voting would be Labour. On the doorstep, people in my area want closer ties to Europe.

That's very much a vote winner.

Eta I'm not sure Rayner at the helm would provide that. Certainly things need shaking up.

She’s not the right person to bring the Tories back to being a party. I always thought Rishi would do better regathering the party instead of being potentially the last Tory PM - at least without a Reform coalition.

I don’t know their views much, except the nasty ones and I actually don’t know who is still a Tory - or whether they went right wards - they seem quite different to last century Tories.

I prefer a decent government and a strong, clear opposition- or maybe that’s just because what I was used to seeing. It seems it’s all change now but how it impacts our political structure will be seen most clearly after the next GE I suppose.

I’m not Labour’s biggest fan now though - again seem quite different to previous Labour - I actually abhor the immigration policies, and particularly the rhetoric, and am disappointed with some other stuff.

I am however glad it’s Keir on the world stage. And tbh there is no other leader I’d want in his place right now - in or out of Labour - I think that perhaps is more of a statement on my views of the rest - some who may come good yet I’m sure - but we used to have several big hitters and experienced politicians across all the parties - where’ve they gone?!

I will have to see how the other offerings are in 2029 - I will though vote for anyone to keep out Reform if necessary.
