Small things that irritate you

But you accept shouldn’t?

Someone has parked their car outside my house for the past 6-7 months and haven’t moved it even once. It’s taxed and MOT’d, so can’t do anything about it. I know it’s a small thing and I know it shouldn’t annoy me, but it is oddly irritating.

That’s a bit odd.

People whistling or sniffing.

lllamaDrama · 03/03/2026 21:02

Tesco reorganising where everything is the in the shop and putting eggs beside ice cream.

ShakyBake · 03/03/2026 21:02

Loud exhausts (why?)

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 03/03/2026 21:30

You could' accidently' spray coloured weedkiller on it or something else that's obvious but doesn't cause permanent damage, like bags of dog poop. It could make them want to move it 😁

giddyboo · 03/03/2026 21:31

Those videos where they eat loudly. Even just the slightest snippets as I scroll past. In real life it doesn't bother me if people make a normal amount of noise. I know it annoys some people.

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 03/03/2026 21:32

I find it irritating when I'm out of some essential, like milk or rice. Even if there's a small possibility it's my own fault!!

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 03/03/2026 21:34

YouTube ads drive me mad, especially when there's more than 1

PearlsTeapot · 03/03/2026 21:36

My dogs licking their lips drives me bananas. The sound makes me want to hit myself with a frying pan

MondeoFan · 03/03/2026 21:38

People constantly sniffing on the train

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 03/03/2026 21:39

People attending an exercise class, then mucking about and talking rather than trying. Week after week.
Irritates the hell out of me even though it’s only their money they are wasting.

Iamsotiredandfedup · 03/03/2026 21:39

Runners

RinielUrban · 03/03/2026 21:40

having loud long conversations on speaker phone on the train or anywhere near me for that matter

RosesAndHellebores · 03/03/2026 21:42

MIL - she's only 5'3"

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 03/03/2026 21:47

The way that Instagram beauty influencers have all started squirting loads of skincare product or foundation directly onto their face from the bottle instead of putting a bit onto their hand or finger first, then applying it.

I guess it must something to do with needing to show the branding on the bottle on camera but it's stupidly wasteful and impractical and if it's foundation then it must make a right mess because there's way too much of it to blend in. I find it intensely irritating because I can't imagine anyone does their makeup or skincare like that in real life.

Does my 2yr old count? 🤔

Myfluffyblanket · 03/03/2026 21:53

Stickers...all stickers but especially the ones on individual pieces of fruit.

Sidebeforeself · 03/03/2026 21:55

Leaflet dumpers ..we live in a building of 5 flats and they dump 20plus leaflets on us
M and S near us keep rearranging their fruit and veg and I cant find the baking potatoes!
Also M and S have stopped stocking my favourite fish
The book “Bored of Lunch” ..its grammatically incorrect
”Bits” on my light wood laminate floor..even after hoovering

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 03/03/2026 21:56

People stopping in the middle of entrances/exits or shopping aisles to have a chat.

When you have a company that lets you wfh but colleagues still insist on coming in full of a cough and cold.

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 03/03/2026 21:58

That’s really annoying @Creu. On my street one family has about a gazillion cars and parks two of them opposite my house. It doesn’t affect me in the slightest, doesn’t block me, and it’s none of my business at all, but it really annoys me! I am sure it must annoy the people who do live where they park. They are taxed and MOT’d I would imagine, and parked legally, but selfishly.

JoeyHeathertonwhenyoucallmebabyNsoul · 03/03/2026 21:59

People who spit🤮

I would venture that isn't a small thing.

Creu · 03/03/2026 22:09

Fantastic submissions! Room 101 is getting full.

I also hate whistling, sniffing and people talking on loud speaker on the train. I’m not sure I’m willing to accept these though.

I’d like to also submit plastic packaging that is tricky to open without scissors (like the kind of plastic wrap that brand new scissors are in… 😠) I get it’s for safety reasons but 😖

The dog having five balls out to play with but she desperately wants a sixth one, which is under the sofa.

Gloriousgardener11 · 03/03/2026 22:14

Cyclists, especially the guys in Lycra, they probably all drive a car as well but their absolute entitlement about the way they use the roads despite cycle lanes being provided for them makes me rage!

TeenLifeMum · 03/03/2026 22:15

Cyclists - I know I should be patient but I didn’t get in my car to drive at 10mph. There’s a steep hairpin bend on my route home from work and the approach is a windy road so you can’t overtake. Half way up they’re practically going backwards then give up and dismount, walking their bike up to the top… but not pulling over to let me through.
