Sell one a day on Vinted to clear the decks.

This is the plan. I am overwhelmed and overrun with lovely kitchen and dining items. Beautiful plates, mugs, bowls etc.
Love them all but going into my dotage the wish is to slim down belongings that no one is going to want and not leave the utter overstuffed cupboards that my mum did in her death.
Started three days ago and my plan is as one sells to add another.
Painting, mugs and jug gone already.
Anyone want to join me?
Today is a Pip trinket dish.

I’m culling my wardrobe after losing five stone last year.

It’s going quite well I think, mainly because I am selling low to get rid of stuff.

Quick moan. Why do people make an offer on an item, which I accept within a minute, then they don’t buy? What is that all about?

I can understand if I left it hanging long enough for them to change their minds.

If anyone does this, can you explain the thinking behind it?

butteriesplease · 04/03/2026 09:31

I've just sold two things - a top I got for my son for Christmas which was aged 7 size (he is 13...ooops), and a pair of his old Jordans, which were barely worn. Otherwise things just hang about don't they. So if I've got something which is nice, or new that I don't want, I'm going to try and sell it for a wee bit. Obviously need to not just spend it all immediately on Vinted again...! The top sold immediately, but the trainers took a bit longer. I got full price for the top, and £10 for the trainers. I do think it's helpful to have a bag/box ready for each item so you can get it to the post office/locker quickly.

butteriesplease · 04/03/2026 09:34

oh, and I think if the seller makes an offer, they are often offering to multiple people, so it's fastest on the button that wins?? @Marwoodsbigbreak

I think if people make an offer for your item, then don't actually purchase it - that's weird! not had that happen yet, but perhaps they are just making offers on lots of things, then seeing what comes back?

PinkLegoBalloon · 04/03/2026 09:40

I need to get back listing things.

I did soo well in 2025 listing and selling stuff to declutter. Mostly just outgrown kids clothes, toys, etc and all low value but every £ adds up and it was surprising to see how much I'd made!

The dopamine hit of selling wore off though so I turned holiday mode on and took the app off my phone. I have quite a pile building up so really need to get sorted.

I’ve had this happen to me, I think I read somewhere it’s where they spam loads of people with offers so if someone accepts before you do they’ll go with that one.

Either that or they are just time wasters, one of the frustrations with Vinted!

Marwoodsbigbreak · 04/03/2026 10:25

The item it happened with yesterday, two people made offers on same item which I accepted but both ghosted.

What is weird is that it’s a fairly unique item, definitely not something like denim shorts or white cotton shirt where I can see that happening.

I wonder if I accept too quickly and people think it’s not a bargain if I am that keen? I have never claimed to be cool 😆

I don’t suppose your Pip tea set is the love birds one is it?

It’s not, sorry. Mines the early birds in blue and pink.

2 parcels wrapped ready to mail today
What about you?

OP posts:
MooBaggage · 05/03/2026 08:02

2 ready to go here too! That's 7 sold in total - which I never would have done without this thread, so thank you!

Can I ask a stupid question...? I've only ever sold/bought clothes on Vinted - I didn't even realise it sells other things! I've got lots of crockery that I need to get rid of - do you tend to buy wrapping materials (bubble wrap etc) to post stuff - what happens if there are breakages? Basically, how would I post a set of plates, for example?!

cherrymauve · 05/03/2026 09:42

@MooBaggage
If things are heavy like a set of plates or even a chair etc you are automatically given the options of weight/size (as as pre assessed by V) and just choose that. Then you choose a date for collection and it’s collected at your choice of address.
Have to say V have it brilliantly sorted to make things easy.
For wrapping I just save anything that looks useful to wrap things in. Don’t buy anything special at all except parcel tape.

I am now counting moving listings as a fresh listing for the purpose of this thread.

So for example items I have had up on Vinted for over a year I am deleting and putting up on eBay. Top tip is to screenshot the description if detailed and one can then copy and paste the wording from the screenshot.

If after a week it hasn’t sold on EBay I plan to relist on Vinted.

Two items sold today by this method.

cherrymauve · 06/03/2026 08:14

Good luck @stayathomegardener

I've sold a jumpsuit so far and today is the day of the big wardrobe cull.

I'm deleting items already listed and relisting them, that's a great idea.

cherrymauve · 07/03/2026 11:25

Another one sold yesterday. So chuffed.

I got into Vinted really late so probably the third-quarter of last year I made £1000 ready for Christmas. My aim this year was to make £50 a month but I had an accident so I’ve done absolutely nothing so far. Hoping to start again soon. Last year it was mainly clothes but this year it’s just going to be a full Declutter ready for moving. Interesting about the pip studio bowl because I have a full pip studio Teaset including teapot, sugar bowl, milk jugs And I think either six or eight tea cups and sauces. All unused. Wouldn’t have a clue what I could sell such a thing for though. And I think I’ll probably be quite nervous packing it all up for sending.

I’d list the teaset on eBay for collection if you genuinely don’t want it, sounds lovely though so I think I’d actually use it!

I went to have a look at it ready to take pics and you are absolutely right! I’m going to keep it. It will look fab in my new kitchen and I’ll enjoy using it.

NoYourNameChanged · 07/03/2026 12:45

A good plan indeed. I read this thread the other day, altho didn’t reply then, and started listed things, I’ve sold quite a few bits of the children’s clothes already and have £29 in my available and £39.50 in my pending, so that’s good. Sold two more things today. A pair of admittedly cute trousers, age 9-12 months, for £9.50 would you believe?! Bonkers.

Lostand44 · 08/03/2026 16:31

Have been a bit slack the past few days but 2 items listed today and both sold within an hour. Am happy with that!

PBRight · 08/03/2026 16:55

An alternative to Vinted for household is the saleroom, if you have one.

We boxed (open banana boxes) loads of china, cutlery, pans, ornaments and glasses and put them in the auction. Gained an average of £15 per box. Sake room sold the tea sets/dinner services separately too.

Easy way to clear a larger amount in one go, rather than one item at a time. (Used the World of Books app for the same reason).

cherrymauve · 08/03/2026 18:18

So pleased for you all. Nothing put on today as Ive been busy.
Well done MN’s 🥂

I’ve got loads to list and about 20 items on there.
just bought something and have another I returned last week - I hate dishonest sellers.

PinkLegoBalloon · 08/03/2026 18:26

I've sold five items since I posted. 🙂

3 have been set already, other 2 ill post tomorrow! I have a bit of time during the day tomorrow too so I can list a few more bits and bobs.

Also sold a couple of things on FB Marketplace. I tend to sell anything bulky or fragile on there rather than Vinted.

YourWinter · 08/03/2026 18:51

A pair of shorts, BNWT, that I listed for £3 last August and reduced to £1 in December, have been favourited! I think I still have five other items listed from then, all £1 except for a £2 kids’ coat, it’s not worth paying to bump them but it’s reminded me I meant to unlist them all and take to the charity shop!

Marwoodsbigbreak · 09/03/2026 08:32

I’m doing well, selling two or more items a day. I try to spread out my listings as per the standard advice re algorithms but there’s part of me that would prefer to bung it all on at once and hope people are more willing to buy bundles.

chipsticksmammy · 09/03/2026 08:50

Wow, three things listed and two sold straight away yesterday.

Off to have a look for some more things today
