Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

lucysmam · 28/02/2026 09:19

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, in silence. Dd1's just left for work. She fed the cats when she got up & boy cat came back to bed to snuggle with me 😊. He jumped back out of bed when I got up but has probably gone back again.

We're not up to much today. Dd2 really needs some downtime after her GCSE mock exams over the last few weeks, and to start packing her room now they're done with.

We are off to see yet another house after being rejected from another, yesterday. Not sure what we're doing wrong but it's always "landlord picked someone else". Bloody brilliant...we'll just be homeless then 🤷‍♀️.

Other than that, more box packing and organising court paperwork (don't think it makes a difference tbh, I'm fully expecting the LL will "win" and we won't be allowed a few extra weeks to find somewhere).

I might spend a few hours crafting, or reading, later on, so my brain's busy with something else. Actually, dd2 wanted to re-watch some of The Rookie together, so maybe that.

Spaghetti & meatballs for tea later on, with whatever pasta oddments are in the cupboard so we're not packing half used packets.

After that, probably an hour with dd1 before bed 💤.

Morning!

I'm on my second coffee and first croissant.

Dd has a friend coming over later, so we will be doing a bit of tidying and also buying snacks for them to have later.

Everyone is still in pjs here.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 28/02/2026 09:23

Good morning lucysmam and others. Lucysmam how unsettling for you all. I wish I could help.
I've had 2 coffees, 2 slices of toast and a cuppa, then spent ages scrolling - a bad habit! I'm off out shortly for second breakfast with a friend. Then home to do housework and washing. It's cold here so the heating is back on. Enjoy your day all.

Heyhelga · 28/02/2026 09:27

Had scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast and just about to set off for my son's Saturday morning football. His first game since mid December because of all the waterlogged pitches.

On way back need to grab a birthday card for my niece and put some in and pop that in the post so it can arrive Monday morning.

After that might do a bit of cleaning. Bathroom and the oven both need a scrub, and some of the windows need a bit of a spring clean.

Simonjt · 28/02/2026 09:30

Good morning, I’m sorry about the house, if you are evicted before you find a new home will the local authority house you, or does that risk emergency/temp accommodation in your area?

We’re on holiday in the UK at the moment, the kids and my husband are all flying home today so the kids are well rested before school on Monday. I’m running the Brighton half marathon tomorrow and then flying home that night. We’ve been in London staying with family, but we arrived in Brighton on Thursday so we’re going to have a little day out before they need to get the train to the airport.

Have a nice saturday everyone.

emmetgirl · 28/02/2026 09:31

I’m going to see my perfect Granddaughter who is 3 today!

Thislittlekitten · 28/02/2026 09:31

Morning @lucysmam and Saturday Squad

Best of luck @lucysmam it’s such a stressful time. Im sure the perfect place is out there.

We are in town. Few chores to do and having breakfast.

Today I have some work to catch up on and some chores I want to do. Also plan some reading and a we nap. Been a very busy week with a few ups and downs so feel I still need to process it.

Pasta bake for tea.DH will be out tonight and kids will entertain themselves. Oh a few dog walks to don’t

PinkLegoBalloon · 28/02/2026 09:32

We are still in pjs. Should be leaving for a swimming lesson but me and DS feel awful. I feel like we've both had a cold/virus on and off for over a fortnight. My tonsils keep flaring up. Neither of us is sleeping well.

Eldest has come come down and immediately his first thought was selfish germ phobic panic that he might catch a cold. No concern for me and youngest. He's an adult with special needs and a lot of anxiety.

Feel a bit fed up tbh. 😔 I'd just like someone to give me a hug and make me a cup of tea. 😔

lucysmam · 28/02/2026 09:36

@Simonjt it'll be temp accommodation, not even necessarily in the area.

I should actually double check the storage quotes & check we still have somewhere for the cats to go too.

Morning! Aw @lucysmam i hope you get sorted with a house soon.

DH got up and got us coffee this morning. Had that in bed and then got up and tidied downstairs, made DCs porridge and myself tea and toast and back to bed with that.

DH has taken DS12 to his rugby match. I’ve cleaned the bathrooms and made beds and a quick dust round upstairs. Going to get showered and get DS8 and DS3 dressed soon.

It’s a gorgeous bright day here. We’re going to take DCs to the zoo today and then home this evening to light the fire and having chippy for dinner tonight. Few drinks for me and DH and some sweets for DC infront of tv.

Have a great day everyone!

frozendaisy · 28/02/2026 09:40

Morning morning

oh the house hunting sounds soul destroying
hope one comes up that will work for a bit at least - in the next week or so - it might be worth asking estate agents if any sellers might consider renting - there were houses round here that were up for sale but didn’t sell then turned to for sale or for rent.

sometimes you see posts saying “anyone know of a private 3-bed rental” posts on Facebook with replies of “I’ve messaged you”

have you contacted the council with the possibility you might be homeless with a minor? Or housing associations? That would be the ideal a secure rental. Sure you have thought of that.

the football duo are back on a muddy field right now so at least one of them will be happy

then the teens need to do some deliveries

I need to go to butchers

then we are taking grandma to the theatre

so a busy bitty day

good luck with the housing hope something turns up

ViciousCurrentBun · 28/02/2026 09:44

I’m going in the loft to make an inventory of what’s left to sort out.

DH is cataloguing all the remaining books we have that we want to sell, some may be off to a specialist dealer. All the regular ones have been sorted, 2 boxes sold, 4 back in the loft as keeping and 6 to the charity shop.

DS is about today, he is an adult, will make a favourite dinner, watch a film, start reading a new book and also play on my games console, teaming up with DS. I would like a walk but it’s tipping down here so will try and dodge the rain. I may start designing a new hand sewing project as my boss at my voluntary job is having a baby and i want to make a little quilt. I’m thinking of making a themed quilt with pics that ref stuff from their lives and their heritage.

FamingolosForDays · 28/02/2026 09:47

Oh @lucysmam I'm so sorry you haven't found anywhere yet. Something will come up for you all. Please make sure the Local Authority know that DD2 is in the middle of exam year as this can have a bearing on temp accommodation location (depending on availability).

DC are at their dads this weekend. My best friend was supposed to come over last night but stood me up and so I ended up watching Paradise til the early hours, such a good recommendation and I really enjoyed it.

Just woken up and have coffee. I'll go for a run shortly as I haven't been for over a week and I really really have to get faster if I have any hope of completing a half marathon in october. This week has been very busy so its nice to sit in the silence!

I'll see my uncle and his little dog later, they are helping a friend get set up on a mobile home site locally. Tomorrow I am going for lunch with a friend.
Not sure what I'll have for tea later, I have eaten terribly this week and I really dont like cooking in general, especially when the DC aren't here.

Chelsea26 · 28/02/2026 09:48

Morning all!

Sorry about the house situation @lucysmam - so stressful for you all. 😥

I’m at my mum and dad’s apartment in Spain at the moment. Currently sitting up in bed looking at the sea. DP is making us a ham and cheese omelette so I will soon move from here to the balcony to eat that while looking at the sea.

Apparently it’s Andulucia Day today so we will walk into town this afternoon and see what’s happening.

I imagine there will be some cold cervasa’s also with a view of the sea!

DilemmaDelilah · 28/02/2026 09:49

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I'm so sorry about your housing struggles. It must be so stressful! If I was a landlord (I'm not) in your area (I'm not), I would certainly consider you as a tenant - not that that helps at all!

When I've finished this post we're off to Sainsburys to buy pickled onions. It may sound silly, but I have developed an addiction to pickled onions (on their own, as a snack) and the only ones I have found that I like so far are the ones from Sainsburys. Morrisons, Asda and Tesco pickled onions all just taste as if they have been brined rather than pickled, to me (too salty). I tried M&S pickled onions and they are spiced, so they just taste like Branston pickle to me - which I like but not as a snack. I eat about 2 large jars of pickled onions a week, so we stock up with them every month or so.

I will have a look around the clothes section while I'm there. I bought a gorgeous burgundy sleeveless Monsoon dress from eBay last week, but I have bingo wings - in fact they are more than bingo wings... they are bingo hang gliders - so I really need a little something to cover them up. I'm not hopeful - I have tried Monsoon online (a nice little sequined short jacket, but even though it is in the sale it costs THREE TIMES what the dress cost!), Amazon, Vinted and eBay so far, but can't find anything suitable at the moment.

We will also look to see what is reduced, probably get some beansprouts for a couple of stir fries for me - Mr Dilemma has gone off them, and maybe get Easter Eggs for the family. I get them for my children and grandchildren, Mr Dilemma does the same for his.

We're off on a local holiday for a week on Friday, so I expect I will start sorting out my packing later on.

Cold meat, salad and baked potatoes this evening. It's currently one of Mr Dilemma's favourite meals and good for me, as I eat a LOT of salad! Mr Dilemma doesn't, if I'm lucky he will eat some pickled beetroot and a couple of cherry tomatoes. I expect he will go off THAT meal soon though.

My seeds have started sprouting! It's either the tomatoes or the peppers, I will have to check. I'm very excited 😁.

Topsy44 · 28/02/2026 10:06

Good morning Lucysmam and All

Have had 2 cups of tea and toast, fed my old boy cat who is now snoozing next to me and also popped to neighbours to feed their 2 boy cats.

Having a slow easy morning as a bit of a fraught week at work so just trying to take some time to decompress. This afternoon need to do hoovering, clean kitchen, wash sheets and get DD to do her room. We may pop out for a quick visit to shops in the afternoon as DD has a practice walk for her DOE tomorrow and we’re bound to have forgotten something that’s on the list!

Tonight will probably get a takeaway and DD & I will watch Michael McKintyre and Weakest Link.

Lucysmam - the right house is out there just waiting for you!!

JacknDiane · 28/02/2026 10:09

Om looking forward to a really nice day out with dh today, we have a few things on.
@lucysmam, im sorry you are having such a shit time with the housing. You must be frantic. If I had the money id buy you a bloody house. Its so unfair, you have enough on your plate 💐

JingsMahBucket · 28/02/2026 10:12

Good morning everyone and happy Saturday. @lucysmam I’m so sorry you’re having housing troubles. Please notify the council ASAP. Are you able to stay with friends if need be? Maybe your daughter can stay with a schoolfriend’s family just in case to avoid interrupting her exams. I’ll be thinking of you. 💐

I’m still snuggled down in bed but I’m about to rise to shower and make breakfast for myself. @Chelsea26 your ham and cheese omelette has inspired me. We have lots of salad to use up too, @DilemmaDelilah.

Today is going to be full of laundry and personal marketing work for me/my business. We have friends coming over to use our scanner later this afternoon too.

Dinner tonight will be roasted pork leg, roasted peppers and eggplant, salad, and spinach rice. Have a good day everyone!

WonsWoo · 28/02/2026 10:14

Sorry to hear of your house issues @lucysmam , that must be incredibly stressful.

I’ve been to the hairdressers. DS will be here at about 12 then he, DH and I are going to the airport to pick up DD who has been working abroad for a year! I’m so excited to have her home 🥰

Squirrelchops1 · 28/02/2026 10:14

Dentist for me. I've excruciating pain and thankfully they can see me.
My day so far has involved moaning about the pain, taking the strongest painkillers I can find before finally falling into a drug induced sleep then waking up back in pain! I'm hoping for some relief today.

JingsMahBucket · 28/02/2026 10:15

@DilemmaDelilah your bingo wings / bingo hang gliders comment made me laugh! 😂 Years ago a Taiwanese friend told me they call it “your goodbye meat” in Taiwan because when you’re waving good bye, it flaps around. 😂

Tiddlywinks63 · 28/02/2026 10:18

Good morning @lucysmam , I truly wish I could help with your house search. Fingers crossed you find something very soon 🤗🤞🏻
It’s actually a lovely sunny morning here!! I can’t remember the last time we had such a bright start to the day.
I walked ZDog2 first thing, DH was faffing around with his breakfast and I’ve spent far too much time in the past waiting just for him 😡
The May blossom trees are out in glorious pale pink and white blossom, a glorious, uplifting sight.
i have dusted and tidied up, cleaned the kitchen, put on a second load of washing, there’s a pile of ironing waiting so that’s next.
If it stays sunny I will go down to my Shed with a hot drink and enjoy watching the birds on the feeders. I expect ZDog2 will join me, I will take my crochet. I’m about halfway through a virus shawl, it’ll be enormous by the time I finish it!
There’s spaghetti Bol for dinner, plenty of fresh fruit for afters.
Nothing else planned at the moment, I’m horribly breathless most of the time so can’t do anything more exciting!

Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?
lucysmam · 28/02/2026 10:19

@FamingolosForDays I didn't realise that, thank you - I'll make sure they know.

Parsleyforme · 28/02/2026 10:51

Morning! I hope your house viewing goes well today and they pick you!

I am going to a workshop where they check your posture to reduce aches and pains (I am mid 30s so more preventative I suppose) and then there is a sound bath and cacao ceremony. Has anyone had cacao? Apparently it’s quite bitter but the ceremonies seem very popular in this hippy part of the country!

Then a sunset walk if it stays dry and some novel reading this evening. I have an exam on Monday but want a de-stress day 😮‍💨

lucysmam · 28/02/2026 12:20

Well, we might be desperate but ffs that was the worst house I've seen in a long time. Front door broken, stinks of damp, carpets scruffy as fuck but doesn't want to replace them, kitchen falling to pieces, bits of kitchen flooring missing.. Sorry but whoever was last in it has wrecked them. I'm not paying 750 a month to live in a shithole again. Why the actual fuck any landlord thinks a tennant will jump at the chance to live in that, I don't know!

OP posts:
PinkLegoBalloon · 28/02/2026 12:30

@lucysmam I really hope something turns up for you soon. Are you limited to a certain area?

A friend of mine was in the same situation and was so relieved to end up with a council home and it's actually in a lovely quiet area. She was so worried though and see how stressed she was I really feel for you!
