This is a strange one. To me anyway. From Sky news feed:
At least nine killed in protests at US consulate in Pakistan
At least nine people have been killed during protests at the US consulate in Karachi.
Earlier, we reported that Shiite Muslims angered by the killing of the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had breached the US compound in Pakistan.
According to a provincial government official, security at the consulate building opened fire on the demonstrators who breached the compound's outer wall.
Summaiya Syed Tariq, a police surgeon at the city's main government hospital, said initially six bodies and several injured people were brought to the facility.
But she said the death toll rose to nine after three people critically wounded died.
The US embassy in Pakistan wrote on X that it is monitoring the incident.
I think it's odd, to me, because I can't really think of this happening to any other nation in recent history. Shooting at protestors outside.
PC Yvone Fletcher of course in 1984.
But beyond punches thrown etc, opening fire on people?
