Lucky my youngest has just come straight home from school, I've offer to drive him, but he wants to walk

We got an alert on our street WhatsApp that one was planned for today, but the centre seemed quiet when a couple of neighbours were out earlier. Storm in a tea cup I suspect.

NunsOnTheRum · 27/02/2026 16:11

Yes I have. I wonder whereabouts in the country it is taking place. I’m south London.

I saw a poster put on the WhatsApp group for Croydon.... all quiet on the western front so far, it seems. Or at least it was an hour ago.

Yes I've seen something about this in South London and Croydon. I imagine it's just made up nonsense a bit like the killer clowns thing a few years ago

SpeedwellBlue · 27/02/2026 16:14

I saw something about Bristol having a similar thing

Redrobinrose · 27/02/2026 16:15

Some kids have been kept off today because of it, school have said they would be visable police presence but there wasn't

OP posts:
murasaki · 27/02/2026 16:16

I bet the kids are all sat in Box Park and McDonald's having a good laugh.

I don't think a kid started all this apparently it was an adult in his 50s

Our school advised the kids to go straight home after school, no park trips or detours etc

I know, what kind of weird arse adult would do this, probably highly likely a pervert weirdo.

My child's school was named. Nothing happend. Just extra staff members walking around the local school area.

Also school opposite ds primary school named. Nothing happend . Just usual home time.

I have a theory that its political act, caused to try and make London look violent.

The narrative constantly is that London is a dangerous place. Some idiot (and I suspected an adult all along) is clearly trying to stir up trouble and instigate violence amongst our children.

Fingers crossed nothing happens. My husband suspected it was all a load of rubbish because it was so obviously made by and adult and even trouble makers wouldn't be so uncool as to play along with this.

It’s been well publicised locally.

how do you know, I suspected it was an adult but want to see proof!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 27/02/2026 16:46

I’m actually south London Croydon. I suppose it’s got to be taken seriously in case of stabbings.

Definitely. North end was quiet around 3 ish, but I haven't heard anything since and they'd be silly to do it there anyway.

definitely. I am glad the police and the govt are taking it seriously.

murasaki · 27/02/2026 16:52

Was it just down here and Bristol, or other places too?

OverlyFragrant · 27/02/2026 16:52

Reading the 'adverts' that someone has made, it doesn't read as if they were made my a young person.
Some of the wording is deeply suspect. I am of the firm belief its some bot trying to stir up trouble to make London look like stab city.

Tupperwarelid · 27/02/2026 16:55

We’ve got a police dispersal order round by the school I work at so all the students were told to go straight home and not hang around in the town centre. We had extra staff at the gates and bus stops but didn’t see any police. To be honest the local newspaper on Facebook has been hyping this up more than the kids!

murasaki · 27/02/2026 16:55

Yep, the advert I saw named the Brit School. Unlikely, I suspect.
