Have you heard much about this schools being added to groups then encouraged to be violent towards each other Basically fighting
.
Lucky my youngest has just come straight home from school, I've offer to drive him, but he wants to walk

Reading the 'adverts' that someone has made, it doesn't read as if they were made my a young person.
Some of the wording is deeply suspect. I am of the firm belief its some bot trying to stir up trouble to make London look like stab city.

I think this is probably true. The far right are heavily invested in the idea that London is dangerous.

Needmorelego · 27/02/2026 16:59

I read one theory that this was all faked by the government to be able to bring in banning social media for under 16s.
I am hoping nothing has actually happened. It's been taken seriously so there's lots of dispersal zones and police activity in some areas.
Sadly there are some teens who will think this is hilarious to actually do.

well, maybe one good thing will come from it. I would love for the govt to ban social media for under 16s. If it was up to me, I'd switch the platforms off.

They make a lot of money and accept no responsibility.

Needmorelego · 27/02/2026 17:01

My 17 year old has literally just shown me footage on tiktok of some school kids throwing bagels at each other for "the war".
The uniforms looked like Harris schools.
Hopefully bagels is as serious as it will be.

I don't think it should be banned for under 16.
Instead we (parents, society, schools) should be teaching how to use it sensibly.

Yeah, well that has not worked out has it?

Most of the teens I know are fairly sensible with social media.
For some it's a helpful tool (hobby forums etc).

Definitely. North end was quiet around 3 ish, but I haven't heard anything since and they'd be silly to do it there anyway.

There were quite a few FB posts on it and assume schools have been alerted and the consequences. There was talk of police presence at schools but unsure if that happened.

tequilam0ckingbird · 27/02/2026 17:12

I was a massive social media advocate myself until fairly recently. I loved the ability to connect with mums locally when I had babies. I loved how it allowed me to learn more about hobbies etc.

But I read the Careless People book, about Facebook and decided that these platforms have far too much power. Yes, many people use them sensibly, but there are algorithms at play that stir up dissent and misery. Exaggerate and spread hyperbole. Dox and bully people. Encouage addiction (if only to scrolling). The companies collect data on their users. They make a fortune and do not accept their own responsibilities as hosts.

So, I decided, the world would be a better place without it.... at least in its current form.

We had an alert for this for an area of north London where some of our pupils live. Seems like some sort of widespread internet based panic.

This. And the ad I saw really didn't name the right sort of schools that would be involved - a couple of private all girls' schools who aren't the most known for being gang central were on there which made me think its all a load of cobblers. As was Dulwich College.

Some kids have been kept off today because of it, school have said they would be visable police presence but there wasn't

How can the school be visible police presence?

I’d rather get an alert than have pupils fighting and potentially using knives.

Its up and down the country.
Iv seen lots of different schools
All the posters are the same, even schools that are hundreds of miles away from each other
So must be the same person / Group

Willowskyblue · 27/02/2026 17:30

I work in a south west London secondary school and it’s been taken very seriously by the police and local authority. Apparently it’s been circulating since August but has gained momentum recently.
Extra police were deployed in to the area with mobile CCTV vans etc. We had special assemblies for each year group and sent the younger ones home with no after school clubs opening. Parents were emailed details.
The irony of shipping in police at great expense is that all schools officers were removed from schools in the summer.

Police outside the school / In the area where the fights suppose to be

Agree, it sounds like they've just picked a group of schools from each area for the post code with no idea what the schools are like.

CalmConfident · 27/02/2026 17:33

It’s not just London…our secondary schools in Northampton have had our local version foo. School sent formal email to all parents about it.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 27/02/2026 17:33

The last thing police and schools want is for this to escalate and maybe turn into riots which were I think 2013 or earlier. Behaviour of some of the kids at secondary school locally is appalling though some schools are better than others. Hot headed teens can be a recipe for disaster.

I was wondering this too. I’ve got no idea if any secondaries are worse for this than others.

I've seen the "advert" for schools in Northampton, Milton Keynes and Bristol as well as London.

Are people still coming up with this rubbish? It was an urban legend in Croydon in the 80s.
