@SpaceRaccoon I still hate winter even though I can see all the changes. There's actually quite a few people with SAD who think city living is easier in the winter. I used to be on a forum about SAD and I heard that observation made quite often.

That makes some sense. What probably also helped me was that it was a move from a rainy place to a sunnier one. A huge mental relief there.

There's a weeping willow we put in a boggy part of the garden three years ago. Standing at the kitchen sink today the sun hit it and I could see there were so many buds on it. The birds are so busy gathering nesting materials.

On Sunday we drove up to a pub we like. The hedgerows have been cut back and are ready for the birds to start nesting. The sheep and lambs were enjoying the sun in the fields.

We've had the two months of rain. SAD really isn't a strong enough word for the short days and long nights of January/February when rain is this relentless. Maybe I wouldn't notice it as much in a city.

I can guess roughly where you are, I think. You guys have had a horrendous time of it, everyone must be miserable. Wishing you a dry, bright spring.

My goodness I think whoever runs UKLabour IG account dislikes the pm as much as nearly everyone else.

Haha. I don't follow them, but they pop up occasionally. I know what you mean 😁

TheNuthatch · 05/03/2026 10:52

The Times and The Spectator have some damning articles on whats been happening behind the scenes. All being covered by Times Radio this morning. Very worrying that Ed Milliband is dictating, if true.

Tim Shipman's piece is 😬 archive.today/yDfvI

The front pages are awful for Labour today.

I don’t follow but just saw one as suggested. The latest is an absolute clanger. Comments are funny. Even dh who doesn’t have strong views on any of them said is it a spoof.

Maybe it’s a no publicity is bad publicity route but it’s hilarious. 😆

Beautiful day here and primary dc at WBD looked fantastic.

Yeh there’s some strong criticism coming in. Not just from within the U.K.

I used to love WBD when mine were diddies. So cute. 😁
Weather is ok here, but not as sunny as previous two days. Nice not to get soaked on the dog walk.

It seems that Starmer's u-turns and flip-flopping are being rivalled by Dirty Sanchez in Spain. Although at this point I'm struggling to keep up with who is in and who is out.

I have a lot of time for Tim Shipman and that is a damning piece.

"It is hard to escape the conclusion that Starmer’s need to placate his party has been put before the strategic interests of the country.” 🎯

Milliband is very dangerous.

TheNuthatch · 05/03/2026 13:08

PM speaking from Downing St at 2pm. If he takes questions I'm sure he'll be asked about Tim Shipman's piece. Its far too detailed to be made up rubbish, and there hasn't been much effort to deny it.

Sanchez is also a dangerous person. He doesn't give a tinkers cuss for the people of Spain. Been reading that thousands of olive trees and other crops have been ripped out for solar panels. Livelihoods going back generations gone.

He doesn't care about unemployment, the shortage of homes because of Airbnb. He's a bad leader.

Then there's the 500K at minimim "irregular migrants" that are about to be given residency... He's truly awful, corrupt as well. A stark lesson about what the Greens might be here if they get in.

Interesting, thanks. I don't know much about Sanchez, other than he won't pay Spain's fair share to NATO.
Sounds awful.

I’m sure there are some who are willing Iran to be stuck with the regime. Awful. Who needs people like that when you’re in such dire straits.

I know. Frustrating.
The status quo was preferable to some it seems. I don't understand that pov either.

Worse I think they actively want failure because it would be worse if the person they dislike frees Iranians.

The privilege is immensely irritating.

Yebbut the Iranian religious nuts don't stick to their country as Qatar found when they arrested two cells who were spying and were trained to use drones in the middle east. They're just into chaos across the middle east and outwards into Europe.

They're a disease that needs obliterating. across the western world as well as the middle east. They literally hate everyone.

Bang on the money @EasternStandard . I really struggle with many of those threads, and much of the wider coverage whose sub text comes across as the Iranian regime being the most enlightened liberal democracy ever.

i’m sure many of those dazzled by their own utterly nauseating virtue signalling think much of MN Iran - if such a thing could exist - thinks the same. Conveniently forgetting not just the internet blackout there but also a regime where holding and voicing a variety of opinions is quite literally taken as a heresy.

and we have a government that can’t distinguish between basic right and wrong.
