A few months back according to the media it was Reform's for the taking - now it's a three-way bet between Labour, Greens and Reform

So you don’t find it troubling that half of Muslims think homosexuality should be illegal ‘cos something else’?

I’m sure there are a large proportion of Reform voters who think the same. I just think it’s laughable that Reform are scaremongering about it.

TeenagersAngst · 27/02/2026 09:49

Be careful what you wish for. The Greens have some worrying policies which would really destabilise our economy if they ever got near power or in coalition.

We’ll see. I’ll take the 13000 majority loss today and watch what Labour do.

If they get in and destabilise the markets will make it nonviable. It’s a long way off and many seats to go. I think Reform might be delivering Labour’s bloody nose in May anyway.

Where are Reform scaremongering about this specifically?

And do you think half of a population wanting homosexuality to be illegal is so irrelevant as to be ‘scaremongering’? Because you don’t seem to think it’s scaremongering if it were Reform voters?

Reminder: it was 500 Muslims saying that out of a poll of 1,000 Muslims out of a population of 3.9 million Muslims out of the overall UK population of 68.8 million. Stop trying to pretend Muslims have the voter clout to overturn LGBTQ+ protections in the UK.

And yes, I'm going to repost this every time you spout that it's half the Muslim population calling for a ban, because you're being disingenuous.

No it’s not worrying to me. Because they exist whether they vote Tory or Labour or Greens. I cannot spend all my time worrying about what is a very small percentage of the total voting population. The divisive Reform party are a far bigger danger to this country.

Even though the Greens won, Farage will once again be the centre of media attention.

The Telegraph has already given him plenty of space today. He is whining like a spoilt child.

So half of Muslims wanting homosexuality to be illegal isn’t worrying to you; because you’re happy and convinced they will never be numerous enough to actually legislate that?

How big would the poll need to be for you to believe it? It was published by the Guardian.

Playingvideogames · 27/02/2026 09:59

Ah so now you’re clinging to the ‘I’m not worried about Muslim attitudes as there aren’t many of them’.

Yet presumably you want more Muslim immigration to the UK, and think anyone who doesn’t is racist?

Even if they did have such clout, it seems unlikely that they would seek to achieve such an aim by voting for a left-wing party led by a gay man.

So? It could be published by the Beano but it doesn't change the facts – it was a tiny poll compared to actual population figures, so you saying that half of all Muslims want to ban homosexuality is just wrong.

Homophobia is very worrying. The threat is coming from the global far right, not a by-election won by a party led by a gay man. HTH.

Really- the far right?

I don't think the far right or far right parents were responsible for getting LGBT lessons being cancelled at schools including this one:

No. Because I think the divisive Reform part are a much bigger issue right now. Don’t put words into my mouth.

Are you not worried about the substantial block of people who vote for the anti-immigration Reform Parrty stirring up divisions in this country? We had enough people actually reporting being harassed during and subsequent to the Brexit campaign. How many LGBTQ people are being harassed by Muslim voters who don’t believe in homosexuality?

And you don’t think the fact homosexuality is illegal in 70% of Muslim countries, some of them punishing it by death, supports the poll?

Once again: You cannot extrapolate from one small sample to an entire population. You are blatantly misusing statistics to spread misinformation against Muslims. Shame on you.

If you were to ask a sample of 1000 Evangelical Christians or Orthodox Jews, you would not find anything very different. The problem with homophobia is religion - all religion, not just the one you like to smear.

I’m not putting words in your mouth, it’s the logical extension of what you said.

You said you’re not worried about Muslim attitudes toward LGBTQ people because they’re not numerous enough to have it acted upon politically.

Yet you’re also supporting a party that wants more Muslim immigration into the country.

How do you square that?

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 27/02/2026 10:03

Farage was opposed to same sex marriage at the time it was introduced, wasn't he?

And he defended that nutter who made the claims about floods being caused by gay people.

And of course, Reform want to revoke the Equality Act which would remove current protections for people.

So I would say that there is quite a big threat coming from the far right, yes.

Can you specifically address Muslim attitudes? I’m happy to condemn Farage. Can you condemn the Muslims who want homosexuality to be illegal?

There's no such thing as 'Muslim attitudes'. Because Muslims aren't a monolithic block of people who all think the same way. Your sloppy stereotyping will get you nowhere.
