If you were to see one West End Show

What would it be?

I’ve never seen a West End show as it’s never been something that looked like I’d enjoy it.

DH loves them so I’m thinking about going to see one.

Which one, out of all of them, would you recommend I go and see?

I’d prefer great music, something upbeat and I like the thought of the cast dancing and singing in the aisles.

We would be going in June.

Thank you!

Hamilton was great!

Mama Mia
The Lion King

Hamilton or Stranger things,The first shadow. Saw it twice.

Not singing and dancing in the aisles, but Sic is terrific. Very upbeat pop-type music, and it’s relatively short without an interval.

I loved it, as did my husband (and he’s not really into musicals so I’d imagine your husband would love it all the more).

Everybody raves about the Lion King but I found it boring. Back to the Future was great, lighthearted fun if thats what youre after

CharlotteRumpling · 23/02/2026 19:54

Don't see The Devil Wears Prada. Quite poor.

lostinchaos · 23/02/2026 19:55

Starlight express has them skating all around you singing. It's a bonkers storyline but we all enjoyed it.

I loved the Lion king, so it is just as well we are all different, is it not? Op I would definitely recommend the Lion King.

The Lion king or Wicked

MaxJLHardy · 23/02/2026 19:58

Operation Mincemeat

chipsandpeas · 23/02/2026 20:00

having just seen the line up id say Jesus Christ Superstar

Talipesmum · 23/02/2026 20:27

Just been to see Moulin Rouge and loved that - if you liked the film, this is great. If you didn’t probably don’t bother!

teaandtoastwouldbenice · 23/02/2026 20:35

Lion king is visually stunning and the music is beautiful and it’ll be very familiar

Matilda is wonderful probably only if you know it

Oliver is one of my favourites but again probably only if you already like it

Phantom of the opera is a beautiful classic

doesanybodyhaveamap · 23/02/2026 20:36

Beetlejuice is about to open in May, it’s brilliant!

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 23/02/2026 20:39

I’ll say Cabaret but only because I’ve already seen Hamilton.

WingBingo · 23/02/2026 20:40

thank you all, appreciate the responses.

We love stranger things so that is an option. I thought Lion King may be mentioned but the footage I’ve seen doesn’t look that impressive. Maybe you need to be there.

I do love the film Moulin Rouge. I also loved the Greatest Showman, which was a surprise.

I love Sam Ryder @chipsandpeas so thanks!

Quite like the idea of going to see Jesus Christ Superstar

JS doesn’t start its run until 20th June, which is too late. Shame.

Moulin rouge is lovely

SulkySeagull · 23/02/2026 21:01

Hamilton! Amazing.

I find wicked very cheesy. Lion king is very moving and a great stage show. I also LOVE Book of Mormon.

But for me Hamilton wins every time.

Flooph · 23/02/2026 21:03

Moulin rouge was amazing, my girls enjoyed Six (as did husband) starlight express is feel good but no real plot as such. I didn’t really enjoy lion king - it was good, but not something I talked about for ages afterwards or anything. Woman in black isn’t a musical but is incredible.

ZaZathecat · 23/02/2026 21:04

For dancing in the aisles Mamma Mia is your best bet. Operation Mincemeat is hilarious and clever, JCS will be fabulous I'm sure. I wasn't keen on Devil Wears Prada. Very glitzy but rubbish lyrics

JuliettaCaeser · 23/02/2026 21:06

Caberet is head and shoulders above anything we’ve ever seen. Is quite pervy though.

juicelooseabootthishoose · 23/02/2026 21:16

Operation Mincemeat! Best musical ever

Oh go for moulin rouge then - it was fantastic!
