Please help me identify an actor!

This is going to drive me demented now. JR here with the grey hair (AI pic) reminds me of a slimmer version of an actor if you squint a bit and I just can't remember his name. He's Northern, poss Yorkshire, often plays coppers or wrong 'uns, mostly seen him in police/crime type things, generally not comedies, probably in his 70s now. Who the f is he?! Aaagh!

It is definitely reminding me of someone.I'm thinking an Irish actor? Or perhaps an English actor who was well known in a role in which he was playing an Irish person?

Not the sort of person whose name would be well known, but someone we were used to seeing in lots of shows.
